  • Maravilhoso !!! Elton John the best singer of the world

  • Beautiful harmony!

  • takes me back

  • How was this the first result when I searched "awful people"?

  • Takes me back...

  • A cherry upon a cake, this song mades me remember when i was teenager.

  • Thank you for the earworm. I just hooked up to the internet a few weeks ago. So let me look up some of the old songs I liked when I was a young man. This one popped up. Now it is the only song I want to listen to.

  • A timeless classic and absolute treasure.

  • Boy, I love this song. I was named after it. It is simply amazing:)

  • @harmy27u91d join the club:)

  • it is so sad that all the great artists from the 60s 70s and 80s are getting old!!!!!

hopefully ej will put out a lot more great years!!!!

  • ej makes me so happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • it just makes me want to cry when i hear this song!! Not many 14 years olds love classic rock anymore!!! So sad!! Those poor souls!

  • I am 14 and all I can say is......what would I do if I could see him in concert again.....first row? Best birthday ever!!!!!!!!!! i wish i was alive to see him when he was wild!!!!!! "Harmony, gee i really love ya and i wanna love you forever"---the best part!!!!!!!!! I am definitly going to meet him someday!!!!!

  • Love this song, and I am currently dating a Harmon...lol this reminds me of him.

  • thanks for doing this...my first love and i were huge elton john fans and this is one of our faves! we are two total ej freaks!

  • Thanks for posting with the lyrics! I could never make out some of Elton's words in his songs! I used to think he was saying, "never live in harmony" here. LOL

  • do you know I had a dream about Mccain being in..and I told the powers that be..let's try progressive liberaly pinko commie black democracy vs military republicrat manchurians.

  • its all good I'll kill them myselfves with kindness or bullets.

  • ebonics the water tells ALL

  • ebonics

  • who cares about Elton John's sexual preferences, that's on him. But his music is the best ever. Will never get tired listening to his music.

  • Haven't heard this in years, as my vinyl doesn't have a record player!

Agreed...you can listen to this song now and it still sounds great!

And he's great in concert...saw him in NYC with Ray Cooper years ago at the Beacon Theater, plus other times at MSG...including when John Lennon played his last bit on stage before he was murdered....

  • It's not a 'video' it's someones self indulgengence bullshit!!

  • I Agree With bigjerry64. I Am Not Into Homosexuality. But There Is No Doubt That Elton Was Unstoppable Back Then. This MUSIC Will Live On. Good Work Elton And Bernie.

  • Great song off even a greater album.

  • Gorgeous song--it is sad and sweet and evokes tears of nostalgia and joy. The word Harmony is one of the most beautiful words in the english language and this song captures and conveys that beauty. As fresh and as beautiful now as 35 years ago. May we all live "in harmony. "

  • @ribluesy beautifully said. this song really captures how my soul feels inside. a lot of people think im a hateful person but secretly inside i forever dream of never ever leaving harmony

  • @yoyoyo119 me too....................

  • This is the kind of song that even almost 40 years sounds as good as the first time I ever heard it. I miss the days when music was really music. This is one of the most beautiful songs ever written. About the only thing that even comes close by today's standards might be the music of Fleet Foxes with a song such as Tiger Mountain Peasant Song. If anyone knows of something more beautiful please respond to this comment.

  • this song absolutely gives me goose bumps....one of my favorites!!!

  • this song absolute gives me goose bumps....one of my favorites!!!

  • Back in the early 70's I would listen to this song over, and over, and over. I even considered naming my daughter Harmony. And, 24 years later, she tells me that she would have LOVED to have been named "Harmony" ~ Go figure. Thanks Sir Elton

  • @Reactiv12 :) I'm 54, reckon I do. lol Love this song a lot.

  • @Reactiv12 I do, early '80s (never saw one in school but worked in a couple of restaurants as a cocktail waitress) as for Elton I wore these albums out as soon as they hit the record stores!

  • @Reactiv12 I do

I remember playing Van Halens Atomic Punk in the rec center at Lackland AFB March 1980

  • @Reactiv12 We also had a jukebox in the cafeteria and I always loved Elton. High School Class of 1975!

  • In 1973 I was stationed in San Diego and saw Elton and I heard this song. That next morning we drove to LosAngeles and saw him again and he played this song. Somewhere around there I said if I have a daughter I'm going to name her Harmony.

This is a video I pout together for her for her birthday.

  • @capsource1

    Sounds pretty cool!!!!

  • My favorite by Elton : )

  • Awesome song. Love it.

  • Super!

  • the year 2010 and people still judge a person on their sexuality as opposed to their artistic abilities...just LISTEN to the music people! the lyrics, as well as the arrangements....flawless!

  • @bigjerry64; yeah, disgusts me that people need someone to hate & gay people are still 'open season'...gotta wonder how many of these guys are closet cases based upon the way they just obssess over it.

  • @bigjerry64; yeah, disgusts me that people need someone to hate & gay people are still 'open season'...gotta wonder how many of these guys are closet cases based upon the way they just obssess over it (half the little monsters who tormented my brother when we were teenagers turned out to be gay...the remainder raised another ignorant generation of hatemongers)

  • this guys songs brings memories that never will come back!

  • What a superb song and what an awesome genius he is

  • great song.................

  • Maybe oddly, this is my favourtie track on the album. I and I love most of em.

Especially danny baily, and dirty little girl, sweet painted lady, roy, bennie, but I must have a social disease or somethin. One hundred years from now, they will still play the Beetles, Elvis, Frank and Elton. Not much else will survive.

    Thanks for the trip..........

  • Who's my age and didn't have this album ? Always have, always will love this song : )

  • I'm Putting This Song As My Ring Tone For My Phone

  • check out the two songs i got in my channel

  • "Expression" itself... is as Expression does... and others reactions are THEIR responsiblity ... espeically in regards to expressions of silliness or innocent imagination... nothing ruptured is nothing veined i say (btw; goy beorge IS utterly disgusting... makes shower curtains look like a friggin' weapon of "massive" destruction

  • this is one of my favorite EJ songs... i dunno why... i've just always like it lots

  • What a way to end an album!

  • I don't think this song was actually released as a single in the U.S., but it had been, it likely would have been yet another #1 hit for Elton during the 70s. I believe it received significant airplay back then.

  • @titans0002 Actually this was released as the "B" side of Benny and the Jets.

I'v still go the 45 rpm somewhere.

  • Hello Cheryl I think of our time to gethor at myrtle beach. I gave you a bracelet made from the word harmony. I often wonder about our time togethor. It still seems like a dream. I will always hold a profound affection for everything about you You'reonce upon a time highdiver Stew.

  • Sir Elton Rocks!!!

  • Elton John is fffing great...Period!

This song is an underrated gem too so thanks for posting.

  • the pure freedom of creativity.

Do you posssibly understand that ?

Most people are content to go with the flow, afraid to hurt people's feelings.

Not in the sense of lashing out, but being known.

What youre purpose is. An ant among 7.5 billion ants ?

    Not that...it is your"s to have..the uncertainity.

  • One of the best songs that I listen in my all life, this song is not a hit, but is one of the most PERFECT pop song in all times!!!!

  • Wow! I did write that and apologize for my insensitivity. Okay? As Ray Davies once penned, "Lucky me, I was born, in the land that I love." Unfortunately, sometimes the land we are born in teaches their young slanted versions of what really transpired. It's a better than good chance that is what happened to me. I'm still wrestling with the term Manifest Destiny. Now, isn't that just a dishonest attempt to explain away a dishonest rip off of a good part of Mexico? Point taken from you and others.

  • I was named for this song... it has great meaning to me.

  • hahaha, Today was the first day I noticed my name is in quite a lot of songs.(:

  • I've posted this comment on several songs from this era, they don't make them like this anymore. This is when music was good.

  • Bapakeith. If you hail from Russia I'm glad that communism collapsed. And if it wouldn't have been for America on the western front you'd be under Nazi control. Don't be so ungrateful if you come from Russia. At least the American soldiers didn't rape nuns in Berlin. Now, stick it where the sun doesn't shine!

  • 1974,, Lincoln Centre Roller Rink - Girl named Anne from NOTL. She was shy, I was shy. Wish i could go back and ask her to skate one more time.

  • Bapakeith. What's wrong with being born in America? You obviously love the land your were born in, to paraphrase Ray Davies. Americans loved and love Elton John. If it hadn't been for America in the 40's, you'd still be living in a totalitarian state that was started by Hitler. Kiss my American arse!

  • @pmoyer50 Oh. I'm sorry. I didn't realise America was in fact the USSR.

  • @pmoyer50 According to history, Americans did the least to help the russians. The British and The Canadians fought much, much, more.

  • I used to play Yahoo poker, and there's an avatar with glasses like ole Elton's, yeah....great song and vid!!...=)

  • I love this song. It reminds me of my new Webkinz Peace Puppy Harmony! ♥

  • This is a great song. Not sure if I posted this before but where the lyrics on the screen cease is my favorite part. The succession of chords give it a I am the Walrus pulse. Anyone else sense that?

  • loved him when i was eleven , now im 27 and still love him.

  • American?? hahahahahahaha can't be much of a fan

  • i love this song yu can never go wrong with elton john :)

  • this song is awesome ^_^ my name is Harmony

  • i used to play this song when i got ass rammed by tyrone

  • you liked it right big boy?

  • He's English, but still really cool still! So's your name

  • Etlon john is probaly the coolest american besides bruce springsteen !

  • REALLY? AMERICAN!!?????

  • What? He's English mate ;)

  • had the record and I loved to sing it!

  • I don't have any significant anecdotal experiences that surface when I listen to this magnetic song, although San Antonio comes to mind alot for some reason and, in 1973, I was 13, which was the beginning of my growing pain years. This song brought comfort to me then as it does now...

  • Six months before his untimely death, I once had the good fortune to meet Gus Dudgeon and when discussing the 'Yellow Brick Road' album he said that he really regretted the fact that 'Harmony' was never released as a single. He said that there was a certain American radio station that found this song to be their most requested track in the stations' history! I do not doubt that this beautiful song would've been a HUGE hit in the States at least!

  • Harmony was released as a b-side to "Bennie" (and the exact reason I bought that single).

  • sure, but how much recognition do B-sides usually get?

  • Yes I used to hear it played on a jukebox on a vinyl 45] at my favorite drinking spot Didn't know it was backed with Bennie Great song

  • @candelise : it seems you know alot about this album so maybe you can help me - harmony is one of my favorite songs of all time...but what was elton john talking about when he wrote this song...my sisters and i think it was about a prostitute....your input would be so helpful! thanks in advance!

  • @candelise: prostitute named harmony

  • I agree that this was the best track on GYBR. it ta kes me back to my teenage years, lying on my bed like Homer Simpson, listening to this on my brothers 8 track stereo on my new headphones. Happy days !!!

  • Yes, it was one of the best, but my favourite has got to be Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding. A double album in vinyl...sheer bliss.

  • Its probably true that Funeral for a friend/Love lies bleeding was the epic track for the sheer magnitude of it. I suppose I see Harmony as the best one of the standard length tracks (does that make any sense)???!!!

  • Amazing! One of the best songs on the "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" album!

  • I never ever dated her ever again but we were the best of friends ever since.

  • Wow this song just floods back memories. 1975 eight grade tolo. The best looking girl in our class Teri. I was a popular guy and athlete but kind a shy with a very bad haircut. There was a rumour going around school that Teri was going to ask me. I figured it was because everyone else had a date. So the shy bad haircut guy got asked to the tolo by the best looking girl. Bell bottom pants platform shoes. This was the theme song for the dance. Well low and behold guess who got voted King & queen.

  • @LesSmith45

    What a GREAT story!!

  • Thank you angellife21!! Time has gone by so fast. It seems like a couple years ago. and it has been what almost 35 years ago. I still feel like I am in my twenties (in my mind) but almost 49. Enjoy your youth because it goes very very fast. I told my daughters to enjoy everyday they were growing up because you will never get that back.

  • Tell me more...tell me more... did you get very far?

  • The biggest overlooked Elton tune ever....

  • This was my mom's song. My sisters and I grew up on this 45. Thank you. We miss her, and this brings back memories.

  • =~(

  • In 1973 I saw Elton john in San Diego on a Friday night -- then I went to L.A. on Saturday. wow....Elton john was playing in THAT NIGHT IN LA so we went to see him again. He played a song called HARMONY. when I bought the album I heard the song again and I said if I ever have daughter I'm going to name her HARMONY. Go to my page if you want and I put together a video for her birthday. Please post a comment for her -- CAPSOURCE1 video obviously called HARMONY

  • Love it!!!!

  • Very different harmony

  • It should have been a single.

  • i love it it is one of me fav fav fav songs in the world

  • this song always makes me so happy....I play my computer keyboard like a piano and I dont even play piano!!!! rock on Elton!!

  • Anthony and me we're pretty good company! My version anyway! LMAO

  • The background vocals and harmonies by Davey, Dee and Nigel made this whole song.

  • beautiful song. One of my favorites of this album.

  • Don't knock Elton John, any of you! And it is Sir Elton! Keep the flags of discontent flying, Sir Elton. We love you for it!

    And Harmony...

  • Thank you!

  • @MartianForest hells ya man. Sir Elton John is my main man!

  • @MartianForest ...So does that mean you want us to flag this video?....

  • @guitarshreddingnate No, sunshine, just enjoy the music.

  • @MartianForest Dont forget Bernie Taupin. He is one amazing songwriter.

  • This would have been yet another Billboard #1 hit for Elton if it had been released as a single in the U.S.

  • this is what sgt.pepper is to the beatles as to elton john did i say that right if not you better grab that bitch by the ear!

  • To radamburns : this was released as the b-side of Bennie and the Jets in late '73 -early '74 . This song has always been one of my favourite songs of E.J. p.s. to YouTube.....if a person spells a word in the correct , non-American way of spelling words you need not underline them in red. The correct spelling of the words such as,but not limited to, colour ,favour ,labour , honour etc. etc. etc.

  • Nothing like this song to take you back to the old days.........

Beautiful melody for a beautiful era.

  • thank you - AWESOME as for the bigot-rot in hell with all the close-minded others

  • Thanks for posting this Alyash1 great pics.

  • amo esta cancioon!!!! this is one of my favourites!!!!

  • I listen to 17 or more of Elton's songs a day,and it never gets any less amazing.

  • My gosh. What has society come to? Can't you do anything without thinking about a person's sexuality?

It's a song. And a good one at that. Songs are about meaning and voice. Not about whether they're gay or not!!!

  • Oh,come on get off the gay! This would have been one of the biggest singles of all time unless eltonand the band dindnt have another album coming out, they never released it. The great producer Gus dudgeoun admitted that on a disc I have made before his untimely passing. Harmony was one of the greatest songs ever and would have made as much bank as Yes turd day, by Paul McNerd

  • The last part of the song is especially haunting. I thought this song was released as a B-side of one of his giant radio hits..? I was pretty young at the time, so I'm not sure. I do remember a friend saying they thought it was his best...

  • Oh like being gay is the worst thing a person could be!!!! I think being a bigot is the worst thing a person could be. You limit yourself to so many wonderful people and things in life with your closed minded views and hate! I feel sorry for you. When you open your heart to every one your life will be so much richer, i don't kid my self that what i say will turn you around I'm no fool but just try to love every one and evey one will love you in return and your life will be better i promise!!!

  • There are worse things in life, like being stupid...like you.

  • And why is being Gay a bad thing, you Idiot?
