That's not effective corruption and hollow spreads more underground and there is only one way to spop it and that is to quarantine both biomesdown to hell. Annoying no Purification Nuke or something like that.

Ok, so it's "easy" to combat corruption, and by easy I mean, there are two (three actually) rather simple ways to deal with it (I know it's still time consuming).

1. Holy Water

2. Hallow Seeds

(3. Purification powder)

But the first two only help you change everything into Hallow. But what if you want normal grass because a) you like Stone as a building material, and b) you don't want your living area overflowing with Hallow monsters?

How do you combat the Hallow?

@eluec5 It's very hard to stop both hallow and corruption from spreading. If you don't want any hallow near your house, you will basically have to quarantine your house from the outside world, making a floating house/island or surrounding your house with blocks like wood, clay, ash, silt, etc. that don't convert into hallow or corruption.

In the short term, Vile Powder, crafted from Vile Mushrooms found in the corruption, will convert hallow back into normal blocks.

@AdamX222 Note that hallow and corruption can spread to valid blocks up to three spaces away, so a quarantine wall (if you choose to use one) must be at least three blocks thick in order to stop the spread.

@823lou You need to unlock hard mode. You do this by beating the Wall of Flesh. Once you do that, it will randomly create an area of hallow, and an additional area of corruption.

the buffer has to be several blocks wide, corruption and hallow can jump over a few blocks

Buy that powder the Dryad sells instead, it will make the ground into normal grass and stone, so you woun't have the gay hallow biome nor the annoying corruption biome!

how to stop corruption: take a pair of guys with you and with drills dig a 3-block-wide vertical passage next to the corruption, and fill it with obsidian bricks (they are renewable and easy to get and craft).

Note that it MUST be 3 or more, else, corruption will spread tru it xD.

You can do this with hallow, too.

Also, if you want some coolness, build a tower with 2 doors or active stone bricks, for camping around :3

The problem is, even if you change the surface to hallowed, it still spreads underground, the corruption can't spread into hallow, but the hallow also can't spread into corruption :(

@frem01 Purification powder only turns corruption into regular blocks which will eventually turn back into corruption anyway if left alone. The only way to stop the spread is with hallow blocks or jungle blocks.

Don't waste Holy Water on ordinary grass. It's too expensive, relatively, to use on anything but Corruption. That being said, for it to overpower the corrupt areas, you really need to PASTE the landscape with it. All the earth Beneath that is corrupt too, which will overpower the hallow that you've just put down. It's simply a war of attrition with the two areas. Hallow isn't necessarily Better, but the corruption is essentially the enemy of your world from the beginning.

@Darkowth if i remember correctly, you can use corruption powder (from vile mushrooms) on hallow to turn it normal, and purification powder (from dryad) on corrupted places.

@Darkowth What I did that worked surprisingly well is I grabbed some wood, dug a small trench and filled it with wood.

Grass can't grow on, in or under wood (As far as I know) and curroption/hallow can only spread three blocks away.

The trench can be anywhere from 3x1 (Where the first number is width and the second number is height) to 1,500x500, but it should work.

Oh, and make sure there's no stone near anything, because it can spread through that, too.

i made a hellevator 4 blocks wide just on either side of the corruption in my world to stop the corrupt biome from speading :)

PS: thats how u can stop it from spreading 4 spaces of air stops a biome from spreading well ones that can spread.
