The reason those dictators committed crimes was not because of being atheists any more than being males. They happened to be atheists. Just like if you go to any prison and ask any murderer or rapist if he believes in God. Chances are he does. But it would not be true for some one to claim that he committed his crimes in the name of God. However, many crimes are in fact committed in the name of God or religion throughout history, including racism, sexism, discrimination, shame trips, etc.
These men didn't kill millions. They couldn't, there's not enough hours in the day. Their subjects killed millions. Why? For their religion: state-worship. State-worship is probably the most vicious religion ever seen and can occur in both theists and atheists alike. The fact that the leaders are usually atheist is just a reflection of the fact that there's a correlation between atheism and intelligence.

What atheism is really about? Reality check, atheism is the belief that God does not exist/disbelief in God. Being an atheist does not automatically make you a murderer, I admit that some atrocities were committed by atheists, but similar if not worse atrocities have been committed by theists, and Christians.
Worse things have been said by muslims. They are the ones that not only wishes you christians to die, but to be tortured eternally after your death. And the quran gives great detail to the torture that you will suffer.
Lets give that religion an atom bomb. Clearly religion is the basis for morality.
