  • I am thinking, the gun wants to be in good order as I imagine there must be a bit of over pressure possibly, due to increased diameter of projectile. I think you referred to shooting true cylinder as any choking could be problematic. Seems getting the right cut is pretty crucial. Thx for demo.

  • @jpfo1776 That's a good observation but I don't think it's a significant problem. I have shot hundreds of these through several different guns including a very old, wor-out single-shot 20 gauge and have never experienced any signs of high pressure at all.

  • Please describe exactly how you are cutting the shell? Partially through all the way round or all the way through part way round?

  • @SpaceFrawg We cut all the way through, all the way around except for about 1/8" or so to hold it together. If I wanted to take the time, I would cut half way around twice leaving 1/16" or so intact in two places on opposite sides. This makes them feed a little more reliably if I want to put more than one in the gun

  • @Desertscout1 Thanks for the detailed info. That is a handy little trick to know.

  • Thanx Cope, went out and tried this this afternoon, worked great.

  • Would have been nice if you had been able to do some close up shots of the shells while you were cutting them. Very interesting.

  • Very interesting test!
