  • I love MOTN, but this is my favorite song from the show. It's not the same as getting to watch him sing it on stage, but it's close enough - and I love seeing him sing it without the mask. After I saw the show on Broadway for the first time, I started listening to the cast recording CD and knew that for me Michael would be the only Phantom. What a glorious voice- and what an amazing actor.

  • i don't like her voice it sounds like she is talking

  • I honestly don't see what you guys see that's so amazing in Crawford. He's not got the best voice in the world - you're treating him like people did with Frank Sinatra. He isn't a bad singer, he can (only just) sing in tune but he isn't the must amazing singer ever. I'll be honest, he's better here than I've seen before, but I still hate all of the sliding he does - and what's the overdose of vowel useage?

'Siiiiiiing waaaaahhhhhnce ahgaiyn with meee ahr strange dyooooooowett'

    :\

  • @Monkeyballmania Look up Michael's Tony Awards performance with Sarah Brightman. I think Michael's voice isn't perfect, but boy - when I see him in costume at the Tonys, I see the whole package. And his interpretation, his acting, IMHO, is far above and beyond anyone else.

  • @Monkeyballmania It's called excellent D I C T I O N. Something more and more singers are sorely lacking.

  • @thephantom1946 That's not diction. Or at least it's not what I've been taught. Diction is getting every consonant in so that the word is recognisable. Michael is over-exaggerating the vowels.

  • @Monkeyballmania Perhaps to be more specific, it is singing lessons 101. The vowels are supposed to be sustained in the line, quite elementary. Still sorely lacking, when the consonants are held incorrectly. Any vocal coach gets that straight right away ;-)

  • @thephantom1946 @thephantom1946 Oh I know that, I don't think you understand what I mean. I understand how you hold the vowel for as long as the beat/word is and make the consonant short. What I meant was how Michael says the vowels in a weird way. If you listen to his Music of the Night and then listen to, say, John Owen-Jones' or Ramin Karimloo's Music of the Night you'll see what I mean.

Michael: ' The Myoooooooooooooosiiiick of the Naghyeet'

Ramin: 'The Myuzik of the Night'

  • @Monkeyballmania Perhaps Ramin coud use some coaching from Michael.

  • @thephantom1946 You don't like it? :O

  • @Monkeyballmania he has that weird australian twang and he is not australian. Anthony Warlow is a superior Phantom to the others, a superb dark dramatic voice

  • I think Dale's voice is fanastic, don't know where you are coming from.

  • My only problem with this performence is Dales voice ive never heard of her and I dont know who she is but Michael after all these years sense the Phantom hes still got it!!! He is and always will be the best Phantom there ever was!!!

  • @Ozryprodutions Dale played Christine for two years total including the Broadway production with Michael, then went with him to the LA production. She's the longest running Christine. He asked her to do concerts like this with him, and he is her favorite Phantom. In this particular concert, Dale was sick and running a fever and he suggested she should not go on and make it worse, but she didn't want to leave him in the lurch. So she wasn't up to her best, but she did darn well.

  • @Ozryprodutions Amen, another case of the performer made the role and the role made the performer.

  • Love Crawford <3 he has such an amazing voice :D
