  • I wish someone would upload the phone call he made to Templeton.

"Listen to me smack daddy, crack daddy, little baby whack daddy!!"

  • because, you lyin motherfucker, you're as full of shit as I am.

  • The one thing about The Wire is that it is so realistic to the point where, sometimes, the biggest assholes are the ones that good shit always happens to. Templeton, Rawls, Herc & Namond (to an extent) were some assholes during the series and their lives couldn't have ended better. While characters like Dukie never ever got a break and didn't get a happy ending. But that's as real as it gets, that's why I love The Wire.

  • @01342663563 Carver's an exception. He started out bad, even got his stripes being a backstabber. He progressed into a better man and a better cop by the series' end, so much so that Daniels (one of the few good characters) proudly promotes him to Lieutenant and he gets command of the MCU.

  • @Shack83 but I never mentioned carver as being an asshole, did I? Carver was a good guy but had stupid people around him (e.g. Herc). I'm talking about the show, in general.

  • @01342663563 No you didn't. But why you're getting so bent out of shape over a simple comment that wasn't meant as an attack on you, I don't know.

  • @Shack83 Bent out of shape? hahaha wasn't trying to sound that way. All I did was correct you lol :P but nevermind. No1 wants to read us going back and forth about this lol. Safe

  • Wow, McNulty went all Dexter on his ass.

  • one of the best McNulty scenes

  • he's pretty hot~

  • Scott Templeton was probably the biggest scumbag in the show. At least the drug dealers were upfront about their criminal behaviour.

  • @orourkeda lol your kidding right? Nobody is honest on this show. Everybody has their flaws, including the cops.

  • @Antrizzle2009 Of course but the cops didnt win any awards for their dishonesty or flaws. Least of all Jimmy McNulty

  • @orourkeda That's not true if you think about it. Look at all the cops on the show who benefited from "juking the stats". That's just as bad as what Templeton did. Rawls became Carcetti's bitch and he got rewarded at the end of the show, being bumped to state superintendent.

  • @Antrizzle2009 They were playing the system. What Scott Templeton did was something different altogether.

  • @orourkeda He was playing his system, they were playing there's. The media spins stories to their favor all the time. Ever heard of Stephen Glass? He did way worse than this character did and got away with it for a long time. Personally I think the police commissioner lying about to the public about the crime rate just to get more funds is much worse than what this guy did. My point being however is they are both equally bad.

  • @orourkeda

God you are so right, I hate Templeton so much. Journalism really is a shameful profession.

  • I wanted to stand up in clap during this scene

  • COLLEGE OF JOURNALISM AND COMMUNICATION IN THE HOUSE GO GATORS WOOT WOOT!!!!

  • so awesome how mcnulty invents this lie as a deliberate means of RESIGNING. in other words he gives a shit and hates the system. the reporter runs with the lie as a method of ADVANCING, ie he's a slut without any moral sense about the system.

  • One of the all-time great scenes

  • Templeton's real life counterpart is Nancy Grace

  • @Mattraction513 There are a whole host of them.

  • @Mattraction513 There are a whole host of them.

  • "... and he didn't call you the second. I did that!" McNulty looks hilariously happy with himself even though he's a deep trouble.

  • Pause @1:50. That's when the ownership sets in.

  • hahahahahahahahaha

  • Templeton is the Marlo of the news room; ruthless and all round cock hammer

  • to be honest, templeton should have just exposed mcnulty after that. he would have got a little heat for coming clean with his lie but the scoop he would have broken wouldve overshadowed his discretions and he would have gotten so much more (positive) notoriety for it.

  • @timeforaction au contraire, he would've lost the pulitzer for sure.

  • And you know why I can tell you all this...

    Because you Lying M.F. ...

your as full-a shit as a Teamsters Porti-potty

    @ 14 hundred.

  • Mc Nulty is such a legend.

  • 1:24 - that is the expression that I live to see off a white man's face when you catch him out at his silly little games that he plays to make it to those top institutional positions!

  • One of the best scenes on The Wire - Christ we need more TV like this. "You can't be seri-" "No, I'm a fucking joke. And so are you. Now get the fuck outta here." Season 5 was so perfect, but too short....

  • I love the look on Templeton's face here

  • Baltimore Serial Killer > Hannibal Lecter

  • awesome scene!

  • Templeton should have wrote about "The Worlds Greatest Meatloaf". Oh now thats a hot read.

  • aaaand, the arsewipe gets himself a Pulitzer...

  • 0:54 YOUR LIE REVEALED...YES, PEOPLE KNOW HOW YOU LIE.

  • Just Templeton's face

  • @Bastardoc Yeah, he looks like he's about to cry.

  • Templeton is my favourite character from the Wire believe it or not.

  • @jonsinobi Why would he be your favorite character? Are you some how associated with newspapers? Just curious.

  • @MrMcGibletts022 To be honest i feel sympathy for him because apart from being scared shitless in this scene, I don't generally see anything inherently "bad" in him- as if he doesn't even realize that what he's doing is wrong- a very realistic portrayal of people who actually do wrong things as opposed to sitting in their office saying "muwahaha i'm so evil". Quite apart from that, he is one of the most horrible examples of impunity in the system. btw i'm not associated with the press in any way

  • @jonsinobi What makes Templeton bad is that he abused his position of power. The media is pretty much the only thing that allows the public to know what is going on in the world. Templeton lied to the public for his own gain. It wasn't power he was after, but notoriety. He is an attention whore. It's one thing for the media to be biased because there is some truth in bias. It's totally different for them to outright lie to their audience.

  • @323guiltyspark True. Unfortunately, they flat out lie alot and the public doesn't know any better.

  • Templeton was such a LOATHSOME individual, I'm glad McNulty was the one who put him in his place.

  • great scene. people rip on mc nulty but he always knew what he was and was willing to go all the way to get his man. also, note how he knew about the street as in season 4 after learning omar is being chased for killiing a civ, mcnulty wisely says "you ever know omar to do a civ?"

  • @alexlee7773 yeah omar never killed a civ
