  • sam is legend<333

  • i personaly think he was set up by the police because he was one of the first self titled artist and he was black with a dont care attitude and they didn' like that shit and the girl he was with knew that and the black oman tha shot him was just a patsy.

  • Haha Sam knows whats good

  • Then Cat Stevens did a pretty good version of this song as well.

  • Amazing ! Love Sam Cooke !

  • Swingin' with two chicks on my arm. I want to go home to.

  • This song sums up how I feel right now.

  • The greatest crooner in american history!........... RIP Sam Cooke

  • MUSIC NEVER GETS OLD!

  • Very interesting man with a unique voice and delivery. Money and sex cost him his life, but it doesn't diminish his talent and impact on all of us. I wish he had lived for many more decades. He was very intelligent, a voracious reader. At least we have the recordings.

  • @PRR5406: If you believe the alleged story of his death, I've got a real nice bridge to sell you...

  • @TheCarKid97 Kindly amplify your theory of Sam's death. My guess is he picked up a prostitute, a "high end girl", and was set up for a robbery. His temper exploded, due to anger and the booze he had consumed that night, and the motel manager shot him as he railed at her. I haven't seen evidence in Peter Guralnik's book or on line to repudiate that idea. What do you know?

  • @PRR5406: Peter Guralnick's book is excellent, but goes off of reports that were filed in the mid-1960s. He says that nobody doubts the police reports (and he's proud of having the reports), but I think that's his error. Taking the police reports as fact is taking the motel owner's racially-biased story as fact, and that's not right. Her story is circumstantial evidence at best, and that 'evidence' is the victim her own racism, and as such I think we'll never know exactly what happened.

  • @TheCarKid97 Oh, I got some of what you said from the book. I wonder if the case was re-opened today, if any light could be shed on the murder. A physical autopsy of the skeletal remains would be a good start. If the bone dame is as bad as the family claimed and Guralnik alleges, we might get closer to truth. Sam's murder was closed pretty quickly, in my opinion, since her was black, hung with a drug using crowd, was intoxicated, and a symbol of black upward mobility.

  • Sam and Johnny Maestro are 2 of my favorites.2 really great and distinctive voices.

This is what Cat listened to as he grew up and his version was a tribute. He doesnt claim to be better than sam cooke,, And i`m sure that Sam cooke would appreciate another artist paying tribute,,,, why the hate????and what does religion have to do with this song?

  • Sam Cooke was smooth as silk.

  • il existe aussi une version francaise chantée par claude francois dans les années 70 "la vie d'un homme est toujours un chemin difficile"

  • some say he paved the way for r&b

  • He was easy on the ears. Not too loud, not too soft, clear as a bell and delivered a song with emotion ( well at least while he was singing it). Patsy Cline did the same thing, that's why she's a legend too.

  • He can sing. He wants ass. Simple. Stop being so complicated in the comments.

  • @PRADAPAPE I agree. Sam was a beast in Gospel music.

  • She had a strange resemblance

To a cat named Frankenstein. LMBO. Been there and done that, lol.

  • <3

  • THIS SONG WAS TRANSLATE TO SPANISH BY CHARLIE ROBLES WHO RECENTLY DIE...OTRO SABADO MAS

  • Commoner's song everybody can relate to. ^_^

This guy could make a song from nothing people would normally pay attention to.

  • DIG THIS!!! smile people!!! we alive!!! hahhaha TWO CHICKS ON MY ARM! hahah

  • THIS WASNT HIS PASSION. HE'S BETTER ON GOSPEL

  • @PRADAPAPE stop... just stop...

  • @PRADAPAPE I don't think that's entirely accurate. While Sam grew up on Gospel music it was NOT his passion. He seems to have preferred to sing his own music by all accounts I've ever read and heard about him. 'Some' people who wanted him back in the fold didn't like him out there in the secular world so promulgated those stories, but frankly - he sounds very sincere on songs such as 'Bring it on Home to Me' and 'Change is Gonna Come'. They've lived on as stunning songs till this day.

  • Fab,,,, just.... fab..

  • This is my song now! I heard this and I was like "that is so me". In my opinion it isn't a sad song, it's like just sayin' y'all. Maybe I'm crazy. but that's what I think

  • I can easily relate to this song as I'm

always having trouble getting a date in an

    apathetic small town.

  • "This song always takes me back to a night club in Amsterdam in the 60s where serving members of NATO Forces based in Germany used to meet to while away their weekends. There were British squaddies, GIs, Canadians, French and Dutch. We had fantastic time with the local ladies. Good old Sam Cooke and Solomon Burke were our favourite songs to dance to, those indeed were the happy days." I agree. NDUKA UZUAKPUNDU.

  • The ''pipes'' on this cat are UNBELIEVABLE...

  • i like when my elders tell stories about the old days on these oldies comments sections

  • I wish Sam lived longer.. i mean No one would of been able to touch him. dont getme wrong im a huge elvis fan .. But people who be visiting his house too!!

  • dis iz music now aday song iz not music

  • Not only a great voice, but a great song writer and talent !!! We need more performers like him. We miss you Sam.

  • Sam Cooke-Another Saturday Night.....An all time classic.

  • Sam Cooke-Another Saturday Night.....An all time classic.

  • WHAT CAN I SAY,,,BEAUTIFULL MEMORIES..I'LL NEVER FORGET THEM.GROWING UP IN ELIZABETH,NJ.IN THE 60'S AND 70'S LISTENING TO SAMMY IN THE AM DIAL..BEAUTIFULL VOICE..

  • They say thing come full circle. Please god let this style of music come back.

  • Man, the memories! I look back at the artists from this era, the way they felt their music, the moves, the voices, the out and out talent. They were simply judged on the quality of their music! Nowadays, Wow, such a fuss made of Gaga et al...why? Without the same media bandwaggon, without Simon Cowell, without twitter etc, would many of todays artists have hit such heights back in the day...hell no!!!

  • His voice is so full of life and emotion, you can really feel it come through. Thanks sam for contributing to good music.

  • This song helps me get through the fact that every saturday night, i aint got nobody lol. Great Song!

  • 16 people wouldn't know good music if it bit 'em in the ass.

  • this probably inspired "Sunday Morning" by Sugar Ray

  • Sam Cooke Rocks!! Thanks for posting. He was a great person and a superstar!!

  • A #1 hit for Sam Cooke on the Rhythm & Blues charts. It was his last #1 hit. It was also the 112th #1 R&B song of the Rock Era. It also hit #10 on the Top 40 charts.

  • This song is fantastic! love it

  • This song always takes me back to a night club in Amsterdam in the 60s where serving members of NATO Forces based in Germany used to meet to while away their weekends. There were British squaddies, GIs, Canadians, French and Dutch. We had fantastic time with the local ladies. Good old Sam Cooke and Solomon Burke were our favourite songs to dance to, those indeed were the happy days.

  • @macvatu Thanks for sharing that memory. I loved reading it.

  • this has to be a remaster, cause everything sounds so fucking clear!

  • Legendary. I can never get enough of Sam Cooke

  • This song is the best!!!

  • Its just you Funechrist!

  • vraiment pas pire

  • this is real music way to go sam

  • Is it just me or is he sing "oh how i wished i had some shit to talk to?" O.o

  • @Funechrist .. some chick to talk to

  • @Funechrist "Some chick to talk to."

  • damn this is gooooooooooood

  • So much style

  • It was really really common for white singers to cover black R&B songs back in this era, although, Cat stevens' version was quite a while after Sam's. Both songs are good... Sam has one of the best voices ever, and Cat has a good voice too with a certain quality that makes it great. I definitely like Sam's version better, but I don't think Cat ruined the song by any means, it is an amazing song with hilarious lyrics. haha

  • Cat Stevens played the song because he loved it and that's fine with me. He's a great songwriter/lyricist and singer on his own. He didn't try to make the song his own, but seemed to play it out of the sheer joy of just playing a great song and there is nothing wrong with that.

  • Best version of this song, no question

  • don't hate others for copying.it's an emulation...real music lovers know the deal....the instruments in this song just get you twitching.make me wanna dance.

  • Oh sam..... you beautiful man <3

  • 16 people have no clue what great music is!!!!!

  • Sam Cooke was Handsome!

  • @SEEdestinyCLEARLY Think?

  • I had no idea Sam Cooke did this

  • @chriscope123 I hate Cat Stevens for popularizing his mangled version of this song and eclipsing this one, til now. Thank god for youtube.

  • songs like this aren't made anymore and preformers like sam cooke aren't around anymore, this is great music that anyone can listen too.

  • one of the greatest records ever made. love and anarchy to everyone

  • @niloc1949

Hey I used the Kirk as well in the 70`s . PPArnold , Geno Washington RamJam Band , Great times man .

  • I love this song!!

  • Every song is beautiful. They really don't make them like this anymore.

  • He's brilliant, isn't he. This is really cool. Cat Steven's version is totally different - it could almost be another song but that version is really great also. Cat's version has got a stunning trumpet break on it too. I like listening to both of 'em one after the other . Which is why I'm gonna play Cat's one now. I strongly suggest you do the same.

  • ho's the answer of spending yo muneyz, i knuw i do!;P
