  • I REALLY Dislike ZPZ!

  • from 'trying to grow a chin' to korn?-that's something i just don't get..at all.

  • wtf are you doing bozzio with korn...

  • Terry looks great! And WOW what a drummer!!

  • @touching yourself. You are a very bitter person. There could be several reasons for it, but it doesn't really matter to me. Zappa a hack? Jesus man, that's like saying Hank Aaron couldn't hit. My guess is that you are frustrated musically and or sexually and the only pleasure you get is going on these horse shit forums and blasting everyone who says anything. I actually kinda feel bad for you. But at the same time it's people like you who make me feel way better about myself. Frank Rules.

  • @MrCaptainluckypants I agree to a point that zappa did contradict many a things in his life but so was his style of music. The man was a true secular progressive aberrated subversive genius who was stellar at arranging songs and themes and had a marvelous talent for avent garde style 20th century music. But again,a man of this IQ and genius ,should have had a little more intelligence to at least get himself checked out by more doctors sooner when he complained of urinary infections!

  • he was checked often as he had urinary problems. The doctors missed it every time!

  • @knthms NO, he didnt get the all important PSA blood test!!!!!

  • I would be pretty sure that the doctors recommend which tests to take and why. Too bad you weren't there to offer your stellar advice in medical procedures!

  • @knthms TOo bad,I would have also told this moron to stop smoking 3 packs of cigs a day and stop eating pizza with anchovies every day!!

  • @fadethetrade at least the anchovies are good for you..

  • @ArmorOfChrist777 No way! They contain 1000mg of salt per slice!!!! That could clog your prostate right there. No one really knows when it comes to the prostate. Too much salt and sugar is the culprit of many sicknesses in the world.

  • @fadethetrade shoulda woulda coulda... when are you posting your video?

  • Bozzio may seem tame by todays super-steroid drumming standards, but none of the newer guys who are considered 'better' than Terry would even exist were it not for his pioneering playing in the 70s and early 1980s, which set the course that drumming would take. Any speed metal drummer that you can name is just doing pumped-up Bozzio. And when Terry came out of the box with that style over 30 years ago, he sounded like he was from another planet. He is the godfather of modern drumming.

  • I think both Korn and Zappa are hacks. Zappa was like a 13 year old who thought he was smarter than he was, solely because everyone else was even dumber. Zappa was so dumb he denounced drugs and alcohol... but was addicted to TOBACCO! Then, he called himself a "non-conformist"! Yeah, right! He gave tens of thousands of dollars to Big Tobacco. Just another SLAVE.

  • @TouchingYou I agree to a point that zappa did contradict many a things in his life but so was his style of music. The man was a true secular progressive aberrated subversive genius who was stellar at arranging songs and themes and had a marvelous talent for avent garde style 20th century music. • ruben and the jets

  • at heart

  • Frank was a percussionist t heart

  • Frank was a percussionist t heart

  • Korn and Zappa should never be mentioned in the same sentence. EVER.

  • @SecretAgent068 Why not?

  • @cjk9013 Zappa is royalty - Korn are peasants. Please note, I hold nothing against Terry for the Korn episode; he's got bills to pay just like the rest of us. I also assume that maybe he looked at it like an opportunity to explore another side of his drumming.

  • @SecretAgent068 Had to laugh; can't really argue with that because I have never seen Korn (only have heard their music). What I don't understand is all the hating of Terry on YouTube. I mean the guy is a superb drummer. Is it jealousy, ignorance or both?

  • @cjk9013 I know what you mean. I've defended him on a few other vids but it seems pointless. Everybody's a critic I guess and we all know the saying about opinions. The whole "better" thing does get tiresome though. Comparing guys who are professionals is kind of like comparing two badass exotic sports cars; both are good at what they do, it's just a matter of taste or preference which one you actually like.

  • @SecretAgent068 And still, you just did!

  • @Oxpost I was wondering when somebody was going to catch that. Congratulations!!

  • @SecretAgent068 Thank you. I do what I can!

  • Comment removed

  • @SecretAgent068 Then why are you the first to do it?

  • @JohnMalcolm LOL....actually not the first to do it and you're the second person to call me out on that statement. Even though it was meant to be more humorous than anything else, it looks as if plenty of folks agree. I personally don't care for Korn at all but Terry obviously thought they were cool enough to play with. Now if it had been Limp Biscuit I probably would've started destroying shit with a flame thrower.

  • This is a great interview. I have to say that when I saw the Zappa Plays Zappa show in Brisbane a few years ago, it was in-your-face the whole time without any light and shade whatsoever. Frank would never do that.

  • Frank was a GOD

  • trying to play like Zappa in the 1980's...This is not moving forward...

  • Frank Zappa: The genius!!!

  • omg how can Terry Bozzio look so NOT 56 years old in this video clip? WOW.

  • Obviously Bozzio did some great stuff w/ FZ... claiming he was the "best of all drummers played with Zappa" ignorantly dismisses what other drummers contributed and requires a basic misunderstanding of what music is and how it works.

  • 0:47 wtf is bozzio wearing?

  • Chester Thomson would never play with Korn. You KNOW Bozzio's getting paid for that gig though.

  • I like Korn and I like zappa... Bozzio is great and you know what if he is with korn maybe ther not that of a bad band after all think about it thers so muce for Bozzio to get from ather proformnces but he coies Korn...

  • i agree BOZZIO with pop Korns....what a waste...

  • Ya Korn is an awful band.

  • @WolfmanToldmeToBilo No their not

  • @SnollaSnax lol THEY'RE fail

  • @Stuie1973 you parade through the internet looking for peoples grammatical errors from 8 months ago??? lol LIFE fail

  • @SnollaSnax yeah I know, I've been known to do it to posts over 2 years old too. I also do it in real life. :D

  • @Stuie1973 that's unfortunate. i know it's a cliche but get a hobby and stop being a hater

  • Opening music cut is an early FZ tune without Bozzio on drums. Oops poster, you are wrong!

  • terry bozzio is not the original drummer, i love his playing, but not true

  • In that leader jacket he kinda looks like an ex sabbath member. :P But he aged very well like almost everyone who played with zappa ^^

  • remember, colaiuta played for megadeth

  • Bozzio's humility blew me away. I've got a ton of respect for this guy. Wow!

  • Dweezil has massive shoes to fill.

With Korn, Terry Bozzio is wearing fucking slippers.

  • Bozzio with Korn? Thats like putting 4k rims and tires on a Hyundai (used).

  • @lilnetty2 epic comment!

  • I've seen ZPZ in concert.. ..amazing.

  • It's so nice to hear a musician like Bozzio describe himself in a self-effacing manner, realistically stating that he'd be nobody without his known affiliation with FZ and his oeuvre. Bozzio is a technical giant, but he's right--superior composers and personalities like Zappa are what the public is drawn to. I really respect that humbleness from a real pro like Bozzio.

  • Kerry. He Played The Bicycle On The Steve Allen Show.

  • ...Just a little reality check:

-Bozzio's first release w/ F.Z. was Bongo Fury.

-Bongo Fury was the 21st record Zappa released.

-Eight other drummers preceded Bozzio on F.Z. records.

-Bogus info abounds on line/ keep head out of ass and integrity of medium goes up.

  • @Daionzrip That was the first thing I thought when I read the title of this video. Terry Bozzio was Frank's first drummer, eh? No, not by a long shot.

  • @Daionzrip thanks my man, at least someone knows thier shit!

  • @Daionzrip Bozzio still best of all drummers ever played with Zappa, first or not.

  • @DC654THEGREAT I love Bozzio's stuff with Zappa. But I would have to go with Vinnie Calaiuta as Zappa's ultimate drum monster. His work on the Shut Up And Play Your Guitar triple-album was simply phenomenal.

  • @Daionzrip ALso Terrys first album with frank(bongo) was franks LAST album with the mothers

  • @Daionzrip thank you for pointing that out....the "original" drummer thing pissed me off.....terri is a badass.....but NOT FZ's original drummer.....

  • jimmy carl black was the first drummer on the album freakout!

  • such a good cd.

  • im pretty sure bazzio was playing with the mother of invention when he toured with zappa.idk i could be wrong.hes surely not his original drummer.lol

  • terry was franks 3rd drummer 75-78

  • JZJY is mistaken in his comment that Dweezil has no talent. I have heard the man play and he is outstanding. Yes, maybe he is holding out on the Roxy footage, but that's comparing apples to oranges isn't it?

  • I have to disagree with the part where Terry said that nobody would know him without Zappa. Yes his time with Zappa was formative. But Terry is a fucking genius on his own.

  • They are all great, great musicians*****

Frank Zappa had 10 talents, I absolutely agree*****

  • huh??? i'm pretty sure the opposite is true

  • Ah yes, but did you know that Terry Bozzio walked in to the auditions and sight read the Black Page Drum Solo?

  • Ah, yes, but did you know it was Terry's knack for attracting succulent young females & making them cream while he sang "I'm So Cute" while smashing the skins is what made him an asset? Every time I see his face, I thank the Lawd up in Hebben for the gift of sight. Didn't Vai transcribe (by hand) Black Napkins? Terry Bozzio is a fantastic drummer & aside from playing with FZ, he's also known from the ill fated band Missing Persons by those of us growing up in the musically cheeze laden 1980s.

  • terry bozzio wasnt zappas "original" drummer.

  • You score more points if you can name FZ's "original" drummer... =P

  • @kerry5101971 well i dont know if he's the original, but ainsly dunbar played with frank also...i can't remember the first though...

  • @kerry5101971 FZ's original drummer was himself in the blackouts

  • Congrabulayshums! Now, what was his first TV appearance & what did he do? Gawd, I miss me some Zappa fans...

  • 10 points to you!

  • Zappa and all his musicians were amazing. And of course, Bozzio.

  • Terry Bozzio = Class act...

  • metalmaniacmarkus you speak as if you know something we don't please enlighten us all.

  • Can I just say.... It's Beau-Zee-Oh. That cute little drummer boy!

  • metalmaniacmarkus even if u are an amazing guitar player (which u aint) dont change nothing ur still an arrogant dick , shred upside down, wow, id rather see someone playing tight and with style and rythm, than some gimicky shit. lol who wants to see someone play upside down, tell u what ill eat my words if u put a vid of u playing up for us all to laugh at

  • metal maniac go buy joes garage then go home have a beer, if your old enough which i think you aint, listen to it come back the next day and repeat until you develope whats know as, by people in the know, taste!

  • Frank Zappa never did anything special. If it wernt for Frank you'd probably be listening to bible shit 24/7 you tosser

As for nothing special in a musical sense then there is no point in saying anything other than you are nothing but a fucking idiot.

  • Youre either purposely stirring shit up, ignorant, tone deaf or fucking retarded. Sucks to be you huh

  • hahahahahah oh man I like that especially how u called me retarted hahahah, if only u could see my guitar playing boy u would eat those mother fucking words of urs and shit them out and eat them again I am 18 ive been playing for 6 years and I make my shitty bc rich sound like michaelangelos deans I think i know what im doing :) oh and did I mention I shred upside down! how many fucking people can do that huh ? ya so dont talk to me im a better musician than u all!

  • retarted....lol

  • ya thats what I thought nothing else to say :)

  • Still waiting........................

  • Suck it bitch

  • well, anyone who read your words can´t wait to see you playing your git on vid!!! give it to us, dude!

  • oh I will as soon as I get my webcam working xD

  • All pissy little boys should go have your little pissing contests out in the sandbox.

  • all faggots should go to a coffee shop listen to frank zappa and pretend they know somrthing :)

  • brilliant reparte

  • im so cuuuteee!

  • Saw Terry with UK in 1979, and was just comletely blown away by his talent. Again with Missing Persons at Magic Mountain (Lol!) and he just crushed it.

He seems so cool too! Keep it up man!

If you need a bassist/singer/chiropractor who can sound just like Wetton let me know!

  • Nice clip, however Bozzio was certainly not Frank`s original drummer. He played with him for a few years in the late 70`s. Guys like Ansley Dunbar and Chester Thompson to name a couple preceeded him and Chad Wackerman followed him. Terry`s ex wife Dale also played with him for a few years.

  • Drummer aficionado? As in: Bozzio REALLY LIKES DRUMMERS. LOL Journalism?

  • Bozzio with Korn, man what a waste of talent on a shit band. I don't get that at all.

  • @einaroneeye money.

  • @einaroneeye I think the same thing about Vai joining White Snake. WTF.

  • @2ubester2 Steve Vai is a fag...so that explains that.

  • @einaroneeye -- hey sid vicious called - he wants terry bozio to give his hair back

  • @einaroneeye

    you need to be cornholed

  • @ditchpig Why- because Korn sucks? What's your problem?

  • @einaroneeye Now we have Portnoy with Avenged Sevenfold, and Tony Royster with Jay-Z. Talk about overqualified. Judgement calls inversely proportionate to talent level?

  • @1mind2have4now

Well, if you listen to Terry's solo on the Korn song, they definitely needed Bozzio for that solo!

  • @einaroneeye Its called earning a living and making money.........lol !!!

  • @einaroneeye I guess he needs money. Korn are retards. Bozzio is one of the greats.

  • @einaroneeye He's a studio musician most of the time, and nobody's calling his Korn stuff his best stuff. Korn is a HUGE band, and even if a fraction of their fans notice Terry, that's big for him. Collaboration with popularity is talent's best bet for getting noticed. And if you ask me, his work with Zappa was much more degrading! btw Korn blows :p

  • They sample the tuff stuff.

    Weak at best.

  • they always state it like Project/Object hasn't been doing this (and really really well) for YEARS.

  • saw them yesterday in munich, amazing concert! thank you dweezil for making this possible - and for the handshake of course :)

  • going to see Zappa Plays Zappa at Progressive Nation this year!!!

  • i wish i could too :(

  • well the good news is that Mike Portnoy said that there will be at least 10 more Dream Theater albums released, so there should be time.

  • x) sure hope so

  • hell yea man me too. seeing them July 29th in Asheville, NC

  • I may see you there :)

  • Lol this video is great but the narrating voice sounds retarded.

  • Whaaaaa? You don't like my radio voice?

    Strictly Commercial;)

  • Too bad that all the Zappa alumni have been fired from the band. That's Gail's doing. She pulls the strings and Dweezil dances.

  • You idiot.

  • Jimmy Carl Black was FZ's original drumer but Terry Bozzio became his drumer on Zoot Allures. Zoot Allures is probably one of the greatest albums of all time. I place it in the top 50 Rock albums of all time.

  • Son of Tube----I´ve heard that rumor .

  • How can some of you not know Terry Ted Bozzio that cute little drummer that fell in love with Punky Meadows from a group called ANGEL .He also fell in love with Dale Bozzio, former Playboy Bunny with whom he formed Missing Persons.I don´t think Terry ever played Do-Wop.Seems Zoot Allures was his first F.Z.Album when he was only 18.Zappa just saying;Do This,OK Now do this.I made a mix for my girl before a show, she asked me Is he queer? We broke up a week later. What A Show!!

  • Terry Bozzio is beyond amazing at what he is capable of playing on the drums. With practice other drummers could play like Terry but it's his natural "Ability" that makes him thee BEST drummer alive.....

    ~~ LONG LIVE ZAPPA ~~

  • To see Terry in all his energetic frenzy, rent "Baby Snakes" it's a 2 hour claymation/ concert movie... awsome.

  • terry bozzio wasn't zappa's original drummer.

  • obviously, but he drummed for him well between like 75 and 80 something.

  • shut up. terry bozzio drummed for frank since the 50's. in his dew-wop group called " the mothers of prevention"

  • is this some sort of joke haha. you really know your shit lol

  • shut and play yer drums

  • i was blown away by terrys drumming when i saw him playing for frank at the leroy theatre in pawtucket rhode island in 1976....in my opinion, he's the top drummer in the universe, and has been for quite some time

  • Dont know about the best but certainly very good...think some of the metal drummers may top him,or the kid royston jnr...but he is very good.

    Check out Tnony Royston jnr...amazing

  • let go of your pickle

  • i am familiar with his playing.... he's very good, but i'm partial to terry's work 'cuz i've seen him live so many times... with frank, missing persons, and jeff beck as well as dweezils tours..... you should check out terry on the black page drum solo...i think you'll appreciate his work....

  • you know that angel has more fluid than jeff beck

  • i'm hoping that you are referring to frank z when you say that angel....if you are, of course i know that...... frank was, and still is the greatest guitar player there ever was....he's up in heaven now showing jimi, and stevie ray secret chord progressions

  • now i am talking about punky meadows from angel. " oh punky, oh punky give me your lips. Oh punky, oh punky, your album's the shit"

he's not pouting for me?? you mean, he no

  • oh, i get ya punky whips

  • aaw man! i love him! if frank zappa wasn't dead. i would go to eacht concert!

  • One more thing....Its good to see he's finally grown a chin.

  • it popped out once. but his dad pushed it in!

  • I sure hope Korn is paying him well, which Im sure that's why he's doing it. Nothing will match his performance in Baby Snakes for me.

  • How old is Terry Bozzio? He has to be over 50 by now.

  • he is gonna be 60 soon

  • Bozzio was playing with Fantômas for a while. What a guy!

  • Wow Really, Fantomas Are nuts!

  • The first Zappa drummer?

It's Jimmy Carl Black obviously! Gosh guys, the Mothers >_>.

  • I believe Anysley Dunbar was one of the orignal Zappa drummers. He was definately before Terry Bozzio - both are excellent drummers as was/is Chad Wackerman. By the way, who is the drummer playing in the video with Bozzio on the Zappa plays Zappa videos?

  • Joe Travers - Frank Zappas "Vaultmeister". He is a big part of the mixing and reassembly of the new Zappa releases that have been coming out.

  • I absolutely love Bozzio. Any body who knows

me, knows that. RIP MR. ZAPPA. Play on Terry.

  • "i wanna be dead instead"

  • Franks 'original drummer'. No he wasn't.

  • terry was a great pal of frank .... he always love and respect...!! he grow with him!

  • Frank should have been a politician, and maybe the world would look like a place to linger....

  • really?

  • no, just maybe...
