Bozzio may seem tame by todays super-steroid drumming standards, but none of the newer guys who are considered 'better' than Terry would even exist were it not for his pioneering playing in the 70s and early 1980s, which set the course that drumming would take. Any speed metal drummer that you can name is just doing pumped-up Bozzio. And when Terry came out of the box with that style over 30 years ago, he sounded like he was from another planet. He is the godfather of modern drumming.
I think both Korn and Zappa are hacks. Zappa was like a 13 year old who thought he was smarter than he was, solely because everyone else was even dumber. Zappa was so dumb he denounced drugs and alcohol... but was addicted to TOBACCO! Then, he called himself a "non-conformist"! Yeah, right! He gave tens of thousands of dollars to Big Tobacco. This is a great interview. I have to say that when I saw the Zappa Plays Zappa show in Brisbane a few years ago, it was in-your-face the whole time without any light and shade whatsoever. Frank would never do that.

Saw Terry with UK in 1979, and was just comletely blown away by his talent. Again with Missing Persons at Magic Mountain (Lol!) and he just crushed it.

Nice clip, however Bozzio was certainly not Frank`s original drummer. He played with him for a few years in the late 70`s. Guys like Ansley Dunbar and Chester Thompson to name a couple preceeded him and Chad Wackerman followed him. Terry`s ex wife Dale also played with him for a few years.

@einaroneeye He's a studio musician most of the time, and nobody's calling his Korn stuff his best stuff. Korn is a HUGE band, and even if a fraction of their fans notice Terry, that's big for him. Jimmy Carl Black was FZ's original drumer but Terry Bozzio became his drumer on Zoot Allures. Zoot Allures is probably one of the greatest albums of all time. I place it in the top 50 Rock albums of all time.

Terry Bozzio is beyond amazing at what he is capable of playing on the drums. With practice other drummers could play like Terry but it's his natural "Ability" that makes him thee BEST drummer alive.....
i was blown away by terrys drumming when i saw him playing for frank at the leroy theatre in pawtucket rhode island in 1976....in my opinion, he's the top drummer in the universe, and has been for quite some time
i am familiar with his playing.... he's very good, but i'm partial to terry's work 'cuz i've seen him live so many times... with frank, missing persons, and jeff beck as well as dweezils tours..... you should check out terry on the black page drum solo...i think you'll appreciate his work....

I believe Anysley Dunbar was one of the orignal Zappa drummers. He was definately before Terry Bozzio - both are excellent drummers as was/is Chad Wackerman. By the way, who is the drummer playing in the video with Bozzio on the Zappa plays Zappa videos?

Saw Terry with UK in 1979, and was just comletely blown away by his talent. Again with Missing Persons at Magic Mountain (Lol!) and he just crushed it.
He seems so cool too! Keep it up man!

Nice clip, however Bozzio was certainly not Frank`s original drummer. He played with him for a few years in the late 70`s. Guys like Ansley Dunbar and Chester Thompson to name a couple preceeded him and Chad Wackerman followed him. Terry`s ex wife Dale also played with him for a few years.

@einaroneeye He's a studio musician most of the time, and nobody's calling his Korn stuff his best stuff. Korn is a HUGE band, and even if a fraction of their fans notice Terry, that's big for him. Collaboration with popularity is talent's best bet for getting noticed. And if you ask me, his work with Zappa was much more degrading! btw Korn blows :p

Jimmy Carl Black was FZ's original drumer but Terry Bozzio became his drumer on Zoot Allures. Zoot Allures is probably one of the greatest albums of all time. I place it in the top 50 Rock albums of all time.

How can some of you not know Terry Ted Bozzio that cute little drummer that fell in love with Punky Meadows from a group called ANGEL .He also fell in love with Dale Bozzio, former Playboy Bunny with whom he formed Missing Persons.I don´t think Terry ever played Do-Wop.Seems Zoot Allures was his first F.Z.Album when he was only 18.Zappa just saying;Do This,OK Now do this.I made a mix for my girl before a show,she asked me Is he queer?We broke up a week later. Terry Bozzio is beyond amazing at what he is capable of playing on the drums. With practice other drummers could play like Terry but it's his natural "Ability" that makes him thee BEST drummer alive.....

i was blown away by terrys drumming when i saw him playing for frank at the leroy theatre in pawtucket rhode island in 1976....in my opinion, he's the top drummer in the universe, and has been for quite some time

I believe Anysley Dunbar was one of the orignal Zappa drummers. He was definately before Terry Bozzio - both are excellent drummers as was/is Chad Wackerman. By the way, who is the drummer playing in the video with Bozzio on the Zappa plays Zappa videos?
