  • The conductor is Gianandrea Gavazzeni.

    Symphony Orchestra of the RAI Rome.

  • Ah, Gavazzeni, one of my favorite opera conductors; I didn't realize he conducted symphonic music as well. Thanks for replying. There is also a recording of Michelangeli's U.S. debut in 1948, in a brilliant collaboration with Dmitri Mitropoulos of this concerto; I do wish someone would upload that on YouTube, even with its somewhat compromised recorded quality.

  • I'll put it up soon, since it is my favorite recording of it along with Sauer.

    Although there is a live Michelangeli/Scherchen which wets my curiosity.
