This is such great stuff! Ashamed to admit I'd never heard of Annette Peacock prior to Feels Good To Me (late '77?) Now I'm full-on AP junkie. Her voice is cadaver-like in the good way; very beat, very now. Never saw this particular lineup; different guitarist at Cleveland Agora in '79, and no AP. GREAT show!
wow, I bet all the progboy fans that were there just for the instrumental virtuosity didnt know what to make of this "avant beat jazz poetry" over prog fusion mix.
Can you imagine being a 70s teen prog fan into yes, crimson, etc waiting for bill, allan+berlin to meld your minds with chops and then seeing this? only in the adventurous anything goes 70s!
Buried like an artifact under layers of dried hype sediment (consisting ofTori ,Bjork, and the waste of other false "profits") is the one true Annette Peacock.
All the staff is playing 'blue', too many notes out of tonality, so that Annette's vocal work is becoming difficult. My feeling, only her and Berlin are going right, into tonality. The final cuntrapunctic made by Hlodsworth contains many blue notes... Well, great job.
Instinct tells me that Holdsworth must've wanted to crawl under a rock here...somehow I intuit that his definition of out doesn't go as far north as Peacock.
Why do people bust a sarcastic nut on Rush? How many bands sound like them, or have their level of lyrical sophistication? Or their level of syncopation?Or their message.? Personal integrity & individual freedom of expression."Glittering prices & endless compromises, shatter the illusion of integrity yeah'"
The time has flown for me. I've always had a schoolboy crush on Annette, who reminds me of Chrissie Hynde in the sexiest possible way. We were all much younger then. What a fantastic flashback to the Golden Age of Progressive Music.
Annette Peacock is 68! This was recorded 31 years ago
She sings, plays, writes music and poetry and is on the road for almost 50 years!
Some people speak about Rush and Dream Theatre.... She could be their grandma...
This is nothing special & Bill Brudford is a kid when compared with Annette P (and Dream Theatre could be sons of 70's prog bands) Please don't speak about what u don't know In 1961 she was with Gary Peacock & many like Paul Bley, solo... She has a major role in pop music!
why nobody talk about such a great artist as she? i mean she is from the generation of woodstock and have a great voice but nobody mention such a great singer.
Great video, I've seen this dvd in full. They badly needed Peacock, the band is great but without a chanteuse they might have sounded like Rush or Dream Theater at their worst moments - lotsa chops, but no real focus or feeling to the songs.
dampheart, you don't seem very able to read from a page.. I didn't say a thing about whether Rush were good - my point was they (Rush, get it?) have a dry , crunchy technical prowess that drains the music of spirit. This kind of music benefits from a strong, soulful singer - that's why they brought in Peacock.
She kinda has a Bowie-like stage presence, must be why he wanted her to play on Aladdin Sane.

I've had "Feels good to me" since it came out (in 79~). Absolutely a GREAT piece of music. All involved are literally the BEST in industry.

Just amazing band on all hands - and Jeff Berlin, too, looks and sounds so cool

the truth is obscure in this age of invincibly cured. Benoit David and Alan White or Bruford/Peacock! The eternal balle lingers on.
