This sounds amazing man, never been too keen on the Sonor kits, but this is just amazing, tell me, how do you tune your 22x20 bass drum and what muffling technique do you use for it?
@AnesthetizedDrummer snare StRand my dear sir :) as in the amount of snares on your snaredrum (gavin uses 8, was wondering if you were using such a little amount aswell).
by the way i'm crazy jealous of that gav snare....
@allmetaliswelcome bwahahaha go me. Well I haven't touched the snares at all, so whatever it came standard wit (I'm guessing 10-12). Now to go figure out how to delete my last reply... haha
The beauty of the Gavin Harrison snare ARE the overtones! Check out Sound of Muzak at Modern Drummer. It has to be one note tone though, can't be all ringy and shit ;)
For crying out loud I am thinking of buying this kit for a second but it is hard to hear anything. Call this your Cymbal demo and then make a vid where we can hear the drums.
P.S what is that kit beside it and what are the two kick drum sizes?
overtones, overtones! needs a little dampening, Gavin would like it to be that way ; ). too bad you didn't play any ghost note/dynamics oriented beats, this snare works great in that stuff. otherwise - nice drums, I have S2007 myself and I'm very happy of it. great price-quality reliance.
@MrScorned Sheesh! You can hardly hear the overtones! Lol. Personally I like them, and I'm not trying imitate Gavin's sound exactly. Also, if you listen carefully to the audio, you can hear that I am playing ghost notes. They're just not too loud... ;)
@AnesthetizedDrummer cool you have some personal taste. and yes I can hear the ghosts, but I was talking about ghost note oriented beats, cause our ghosts here are just filling the empty spaces. nothing wrong about it I do it myself and a lot of guys does it but I feel that this drum's destiny is to be played on several dynamics level at once. in conclusion - less accents and more ghost note variations, let them drive the beat.
I would say everything MrScorned seems to dislike would be remedied had the recording been done with better equipment, possibly a better room as well. Nice to see someone who likes their drums more wide open. Oh, and nice playing.
@AnesthetizedDrummer That is understandable, lol. I have SW length hair (I used to have looong hair, about mid-back) and it gets annoying sometimes, but I hate how I look with 'short' hair. I like it to be at least chin length, lol. Nice drum kit, btw.
I have ordered these set, the last in the stores :)
