I can't decipher why people criticized on the kid's acting commenting of ruining the Anakin Skywalker a.k.a. Darth Vader character. Darth Vader was evil, an antagonist, a Dark Force, but didn't all the bad guys started out to be young innocent and sometimes I don't know maybe annoying perhaps? That kid was just doing his role naturally as a typical 9 year old Darth Vader in the view of his creator, Lucas.

It's not his acting thats bad, he was fine. It was the horrendous dialogue written for him. And for the record, Episode I really isn't that awful! Great effects, decent enough story, and one of the best lightsaber battles in the series. It was, I agree, pulled down by its shoddy dialogue and dull characters. But hey, without this, Episode III wouldn't exist, and that's good enough excuse for me!

they both did an ok job for anakin skywalker. sure llyod had some cutsey and annoying perforamces but i woul dgive him credit for podracing when feeling the force and feeling silent,n ervous and sad when leaving his mother, and that is the sign of anakin's futurte. in episode 2, I have to agree some of the fans he was acting creeepy and whining(it is because yoda said that luke had much anhgher in him like his father) but here some good performaces that makes him look badass

take for example, in episode 2, anakin praising obi wan to be strong as windu and wise as yoda, takes off and rides with the speeder, raises his head up barely after his mother died when it reminds us the helmet and vader's mask is together and kills the tusken raiders and had some of vader's postures. in episode 3, how feels nervous about losing his wife, and acts like vader before burned(sometimes acts goofy) and in a suit in a dark and emotional way(excluding the "noo" line).

I know some of you other fans gonna hate he for this, but I think he is a mixed actor for my taste. the bad stuff about Jake's acting is all about cutesy and puppy dog facial expressions. the good stuff on the hand however, is how he prepares and acts bad ass without saying oops during the podrace. i really love his nervous moments when he leaves his mother,Shmii, and in Coruscant he finally shuts up but until he ruins it while leaving Coruscant and accidentally destroys the droid control ship.

To be honest Jake did okay to play as Anakin. Sure he can be annoying acting like a typical kid with kiddie lines, but his best performances are when anakin prepares and races for podracing, glares at qui gon if he didnt want to leave his mother, being nervous in courscant, and in the parade, he gives obi wan a nervous look and squints his eyes when he dosent look at his first jedi master, and smiling padme in a creepy way, because he might turn into darth vader.

Guess that why it included a scene of Qui Gon Jin being impaled and Darth Maul being bisected and then the audience watches as his two halfs split on screen and falling into a deep hole.
