@ Antonio122997 the samsung moment is definatly better fir like facebook,aim,Twitter,myspace, ect. Becuase since the moment has three main pages when u unlock it u don't have to search for it and applacations are removable from ur 3 main pages and moved into ur menu and like the iPod touch u just hold and drag moment is way better than hero plus moment has keyboard

Finally, if you have to place a random call, the Hero like the Moment uses the “End call” button to boot, but the Hero forces a motor skill of down-swiping the screen to open the phone for use where the Moment only requires you to press the menu button. This is problematic when you’re preoccupies at the time the call comes in etc. Seems like a formality I know… until you try it : (

I really do love both phones. I work at Radio Shack so I get to play around with both phones and I'm going to be going to Sprint because they have the best employee plan options. I'm thinking I'll get the Moment simply because I text a lot and I like a physical keyboard over the on screen keyboard. Honestly you can't really go wrong with either.

Samsung's interface is micro USB ( is not proprietary ad the review claims ) and that of HTC Hero is mini USB.

@d33pakm0han The HTC Hero does not use mini USB. It uses its own special little shape like most other HTC phones do. It looks like a rectangle with rounded off corner, although like mini USB it is irregular shaped.

Honestly I'm surprised the Moment has micro USB because of Samsung's constant habit of using their proprietary jacks, even on some of their smart phones.

Nice comparison. Just one little correction on the charging comment. I have the moment and it is not a Samsung proprietary charger it is a micro USB used by many other phones these days like HTC Google Nexus One / Motorola Cliq XT, Backflip, Droid, Cliq, Devour / Samsung Behold II, Moment, lg xenon and blackberries

I have a hero and the Youtube player is hit or miss at best. It is annoying. I always say a prayer before tapping a selection. Needless to say, my connection with the big guy upstairs must be spotty too cause it don't always work. Some vids you get the first time some not. Sometimes you have to try several times to get a video to play. Sometimes you can't reload the same video. What up with that? Yeah, how 'bout that firmware update, please!!

Hey mate. Not sure if this has been pointed out yet, but the port on the Moment is NOT a Samsung proprietary charge/sync jack. It's a micro-USB, which (in my opinion, unfortunately) is becoming the standard. I much prefer mini-usb on the Hero (or in my case, my Verizon Eris) because it's not much bigger, and it's easier to plug in and feels a little more solid.

They both have Youtube player apps, however, the Hero WILL NOT play Youtube videos unless connected to a WI-FI signal. The Moment runs circles around the Hero. The screen is better, it has a physical keyboard, it's WAAAAYYY FASTER !! As for the Hero having 7 screens and the Moment only 3, just download Open Home and you can have 5 or 7. There is so much customization you can do on the Moment. Don't go for the HTC Zero. Trust me, live in the Moment ;)

Actually, the Hero is proprietary and the Moment is MicroUSB. But a MicroUSB cord could fit into the HTC Hero.

@yoitsderek apparently you don't own either one of them. I own both of them and I can tell you that while the Hero has the flashy Sense UI, it lags a lot compared to the Moment. Also, the screen on the Hero can't even touch the Moment's AMOLED screen.

Well finished watching all of your videos except for the wrap up vids, they were informal yet informative just the way I like them, I couldn't help but notice you didn't go into depth on the google experience or whatever it was called thats branded on the back of the moment, and I know you did out of the box comparison but for some reason moment has the predictive text dictionary off by default, something to consider commenting about in your final review.

maaan i tried out the hero at my local sprint store and also the moment.... i have an instinct s30 and fat thumbs haha it was really hard for me to type fast and accurately on the hero as opposed to the moment it may be cause of my nails and cause the hero only renders skin on the touch screen? and cause i only had about 20 mins with the phone but still im torn i want the hero but the buttons on the keyboard are small even in landscape mode... for me at least

The moment isn't a proprietary port... it's standard micro USB. It's just funky (yes I'll admit, it is) because it's a bit more slanted. but yes any micro USB will work on the Moment, as proven by my $3.99 car charger and wall charger.

Actually the Moment uses the Micro usb connection (not a proprietary Samsung), which is extremely popular with most manufacturers. On the Hero is the mini usb connection, but it is not the same charging current as the razr or other standard mini usb devices. All HTC phones with the mini usb require higher current to charge properly. So you were completely backwards on that one. Also anytime you start rambling or make a mistake; edit your video so it is smoother. But don't cut your own audio off!

Great review...I couldn't wait for part two to come out. I think both are great phones. The Samsung Moment had the keyboard, so it won for me. I am very happy with my phone; it does everything that I love to do in a phone (facebook, youtube, pandora, and great, great web browsing) I still cannot wait for for your next review. If you live in a state with hands free laws and you like the bluetooth device that came with your shiny new BMW, your phone may no connect. WOW! And, if it does, many poeple have said that it sporadically works requiring constant manual connecting. IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE ME, GOOGLE IT. Also with headsets, it's can be very sporadic connections. Please do tutorials if there are ways to overcome this and simpler ways to send data. I wasted a whole day only to learn that bluetooth is terrible.

The Good: The best review that I seen so far to date. Better than PC Mag and CNET.

The Bad: You go so fast that sometimes it's hard for lay peolple like me to get what you are saying.

The Ugly: You missed all the Blue Tooth issues with the HERO! But, so did CNET and PC Mag! What's up with that.  Why is no one mentioning that the Bluetooth only connects to headsets.
