  • Grateful for this video. Have been doing this for months now.

  • If you can't reach around to clasp your hands in front of your shin, clasp them around the back of your thigh instead and just fold your lower leg in as much as you can while pulling the thigh in towards your body. That's what I do, and it still works to stretch the muscles just fine.

  • I can't get that much stretch. My leg (not the one with the ankle across the thigh) will only go about 90 degrees, to where the knee points straight up at the ceiling. Will it get more flexible with time?

  • @Aston480TBE - Yes. I learned this pose as a hip opener rather than as a lower back stretch, and you should feel the muscles along your hip and thigh stretching as you do it.

  • Eliz did that thread needle pose flawlessly. At 54, I m glad I still could follow her though sluggish & painful. After a set of left & right, I feel my back pressure so much relieved. Definitely helps lots. Thanks Liz.

  • you are awesome. I have been getting banged over the head by a doctor a chiropractor and a physical fitness specialist with no help. This pose is amazing my sciatica is relieving. If you need anything, just ask. you are a true Yoga master no fee training. hope you the very best.

  • Im 14, and I could actually do it, even though i've never done or tried yoga before, yes it does hurt like a bitch but i just take the pain in and concentrate on the breaths. I suppose if you keep doing this the pain will stop and you get used to it, found this stretch really relaxed me

    American's suffering from severe back pain; must start heavy regimen of prescription medication, watch 10hours of TV and eat 3 Big Macs w/extra cheese daily followed by visit to HMO approved cardiologist.   • 20 second stretches on each side, and I immediately noticed a difference. Thank you for this very informative stretch video. I'll do this stretch every day.

  • I did not know this was a yogasana. But I have done this 3 times a day when I had terrible Sciatica pain and it is miraculous !

  • This is good for the back if you can do it! I find it hard to do this with my right side,it's like my arms aren't long enough. She makes it look so easy but you have to be real flexible to do it.

  • sciatica isn't related to a period you damn moron, It's irritation of the sciatic nerve (in your LOWER BACK).
