"I used to make beats on a boom box and watched the Thundercats WAY before the boondocks, Couldn't Moonwalk but rocked the Robot & Repped the Tranformers not the Go-bots!" hahaha I love Ghettosocks!
@redsonia My Highlights: Timbuk smashin' the Jenga, and Fly Girls that don't just rub their asses on guy's crotches. Yeah, Fly Girls used to bust ill moves in videos, kids
what's bothering me about music is how tracks like this have waaay less views than drake, wayne etc... i'm still wondering if people know what music is.
The guys in this video must have been 1 years old, if that, when the Rubiks Cube came out and was first popular, and they're nostalgic for it as their 'Middle School' memory? I don't get it. I could barely understand what they were saying. Is this even English?
@littlepiaf Haha what? That's like saying someone couldn't write a song about being nostalgic for their first bike, because bikes came out and were first popular in the 1800s.
WKRP in Cincinnati came out 8 months before I was born and I still get nostalgic for it as a "Middle School" memory because, guess what - I watched it all through middle school. I also had a Rubik's Cube! It's a crazy time paradox! Whoa!
@littlepiaf You can't understand what they're saying? You must not listen to hip hop often. Grab a dictionary, read it, increase your vocabulary, and come back and listen again. Only then will you understand, my friend. Also, I was born the year the Rubiks cube came out -1980. I've 5 different Rubiks cubes. They remind me of child hood, my 20's, and yesterday. I always have one close by. The Rubiks cube is a common childhood toy for many, and a puzzle for some older people. Can you solve it?
@littlepiaf Oh, and is Monopoly a childhood memory of yours? It is one of mine! That game can be tracked back to 1903, yet it is a childhood memory of almost any north american person.
Booo on the Haiku "Powerful impact ZAP! from the cannon". ZAP really? Too bad, that's such a powerful line when Busta Rhymes delivered it in A Tribe Called Quest's - scenario.
"Watch, as I combine all the juice from the mind
Heel up, wheel up, bring it back, come rewind
Powerful impact BOOM! from the cannon"
Hope he wasn't trying to pawn that off as an original line
@govtiss if it was a reference, the he would actually have to reference it. he would have to say something about busta, leaders of the new school, or scenario, instead of announcing a haiku.
@michaelcoolen I've been kind of wondering about this. I was at a show here he did an entire song of DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince - Brand New Style - exactly the same as the live video of it - the remix one that they did - you can find it in youtube. Anyway, almost word for word, except name changes, even for Ready Rock. It was fun listening to it, but I thought it was odd, cause I don't remember any reference to the fact that it was all DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince.
@adprobert I think you're talking about his remake called "He's the DJ, I'm the Rapper '08" from his mixtape with Jorun Bombay. It's a wicked tune, and wouldn't be the first time someone has recorded a cover tune-style track for a mixtape. You're lucky you got to see him do that live...
@DoogieHowitzer I'm ok with ppl doing remixes and stuff, but props should be given, and the song could be changed a bit. It was literally the same as their remix video. Even the whole "no small letters in our names, only capitals" part. He has some great tracks and he's a good rapper. I just think it is odd that the entire song was done exactly the same, word for word, beat for beat. I've been listening to hip hop for a long time, and I've never heard of anyone copying an entire song like that.
@DoogieHowitzer I just went and checked out that tape. I can make your dog famous or something. That song on there isn't the same song he did on stage that night. The song he did was this... exactly.... word for word - even the beginning where he's saying "we gonna do this - the way it's supposed to be done".
@adprobert You will have to search for the video. I can't post the link here. Search dj jazzy jeff and the fresh prince brand new funk - it's the second result.
hilarious! loivin timbuktu's new look. les is always fun to listen too and fresh kils is too cool on the cuttin-boards. congrats gentlemen, you got a winner on ur handz.
Very Dope! Kils, you're beats are infectious man, you and factor are big time inspirations as far as canadian producers for myself....the stuff you did on Wartime Themesongs still gets frequent rotation....keep killing it homey! pz.
hahah this video is wicked!!!!!!! Can't wait to see more like it. It's so nice to see something DIFFERENT for once! I saw these guys perform live at the release party and they're insane. love it love it.
