Don't celebrate too much. The Gen Chem 2 final will implicitly include most of the Gen Chem 1, concepts. And you go over just as much material and more in 16 weeks than you did in one year before.
Analytic chemistry and organic chemistry also include gen chem concepts. You're always being implicitly tested on the previous course material if it is a prerequisite to the next class.
I'm really looking forward to those videos about philosophy. I didn't get that about the end of the philosophy book: were you just complaining about the order of topics or is something missing that interests you?
AHHH I want to take something with philosophy...but I don't think I have enough room if I want to graduate half a year early...if it wasn't for those damn general education courses I could probably take something...
yeah, it's called the "autoplay" bar - and I think you are not alone. Pretty sure everyone hates it. I can't imagine that they wouldn't. Annoying piece of shit.
Not you. The autoplay bar. :D
I didn't get "ma vie", until you said c'est la vie. Now I get it. Ain't I the brightest?
@CousinoMacul Indeed I am =P I was very sad to learn that the Cardinals never play the Yankees =( Couldn't care less that they play the Mets...
Chemistry is cool. AP Chemistry is fucking torture and pretty much ruins all things wonderful about Chem haha I'm sure I'll love it again... until orgo...
Yeah I finished it a while ago and loved it! Recommended it to a friend though we couldn't find it in B&N that day =(
@funsizedchoco I'm hoping for a WS rematch so that my Phills can prove their mettle.
Organic chemistry is great yet it sucks. In order to understand the really fascinating shit that's going on, you need at least two years of rote memorization. But once you know the 'language' of chemistry, it's a pure delight.
It's one of my favorite books and I love to pass it on.
Please don't take this the wrong way, but I totally <3 U and believe that you're the future of US.
As a chemistry major, you learn to get used to the crap in physics. I personally only liked the section dealing with the ideal gas laws, and their build up. After that, I had to keep reminding myself "You're doing this for Organic!"
And as a hopeful neurologist one day, I wish I could have had your introduction to psychology class. We just had the whole overview of psychology.
@funsizedchoco I'm actually looking forward to physics. And organic chemistry. I've always liked physics(yes, I am a nerd), and organic chemistry is what I'll really be needing.
just kidding, it sucks. there are so many sections that they're almost all taught by grad students.
if you can get into the chemistry sub-section taught by dr shields (i think it's the extended one), do it. The woman is an angel, she helped me so much with that class, and you can actually understand her (unlike many chem TAs).
have you considered phil of religion? i took it last semester, it's a good class and you don't need to have taken prior phil classes
I think I am in Dr. Shields' subsection =) YES. Who was your professor for the actual class? I have Loomis - sat in on his class and he seemed really cool so *shrug*
I know that for PNP only certain Phil classes count as prereqs for later classes and I know that Problems in Philosophy is one that works. Still have seven more terms to debate religion though so I'll get around to it =)
He's really funny and is a nice guy, but he writes very intense tests. all the sections take the same tests though, so you would have to deal with them either way.
You should sign up for PLTL as well, it is also really helpful for getting through chemistry
Starting college can be exciting and frustrating at the same time. When I was in college, I always waited to buy the books until after the first class meeting to make sure that I was getting the correct book (bought the wrong book a couple of times). When I did buy the book, I never bought it from the school. If you are going to a school in a college town, chances are, there are some off campus college book stores. They were cheaper than the school's store. When do classes start?
@junosden My school store is pretty damn expensive and they don't always offer a used book option, especially for science books since a lot kids are pre-med and hang on to them for reference and such. I'm not in a college town, although I know what you're talking about because I went to high school in one.
Classes start technically on August 31st, but for me September 1st because I don't have class on Tuesday haha
was that philosophy class good? are you doing well in uni? your subscribers miss you and would love to hear from you (>-) & <3

7-10 bags of stuff, I have to say that sounds just about right. And Chem is definitely the suck.
Your philosophy class sounds really interesting. Good luck in college! I'm going to be a freshman myself this year at Tulane.
St. Louis you say. You don't happen to be going to Wash U by any chance?

Rule #1: No logical fallacies
Rules #2: there are no rules other than rule #1.

When I was 8, I wanted to wear my cub scout uniform around the house even before I had been to meeting.
Sound familiar, Chelsea?

You're going to college in "Mizurrah"?
Chemistry is actually pretty cool. Everything you see around you is chemistry.
Neuroscience! Awesome! Did you ever finish "DesCartes' Error"? It's a great book!

The good life is utilitarianism and stuff from Rand.

@freakincampers Always forget about utilitarianism haha thanks!

Not exactly, it's Aristotelean, and a lot of it deals with reason. How to live reasonably, in accordance with human nature.

@xanderthegreatt Yeah I heard a lot about PLTL when I stayed overnight haha Lots of panicking because the first Chem test was approaching.
I can live with intense tests. I never expected a 4.0 GPA anyway haha
