Yes at first I was melting my gas tank guard but fixed that buy putting some heat tape on it. other then that if you are tuned/jetted correct you shouldn't melt the body plastic. Yes they get hot but not all that hot. I'd also wrap your head pipes with heat wrap makes a huge difference.
