To add to your list of tolerant countries, and I agree with your estimation of the UK--I've lived there, (in London), the only other colour blind city is Toronto Canada. I agree with the other posters that an American soap would not develop the roles of Christian and Oliver so well. Although there was Queer as Folk in the USA that soap was on cable television but I felt the sex was a bit extreme and the show was definitely not as romantic as Christian and Oliver. I think maybe in Germany or Europe perhaps it is also the social attitudes towards homosexuality are bit more progressive than the USA or UK?
Yeah it is good that Ollie finally woke up I do think though that Ollie kind of liked the attention Rob was giving him when he and Christian were going through a rough patch. I don't think Ollie had any intention of cheating on Christian but I do think he was attracted to him and that's why Ollie and Rob kissed. I was shocked though a few episodes back when Rob basically took his clothes off hitting on Ollie. I would have thought Ollie would of told him to beat it by that point.

Erm, is it just me or are these two getting RIDICULOUSLY good at playing a couple?! It's really incredible how natural they have become and great to see them stay so prominent for so long so they have the chance to develop as characters. Though we've had plenty of gay characters in every one of our soaps here in the UK none of them have lasted this long or had the romantic/sexual aspects of their characters remain so prominent. Watch and learn British TV execs!!

@LeeboyThunder But even the British soaps aren't as progressive as the German or Dutch soaps. On Emmerdale for example, the writers did not want to deal with Jackson and Aaron's romantic relationship in an honest manner. There were also a media story in the UK about British viewers complaining about the same sex sex scenes on the show Torchwood. The UK and USA have a lot in common not as progressive as Germany or the Netherlands in relation to homosexuality.
@JordanjamesX I really don't think that true life is reflected here, the real tolerance is in the UK and Australia, not German or Netherlands. I love the Soaps from these countries, but the overall acceptance in general is now in the UK and Australia. Hopefully there will be changes in the US and the other European countries, It is hard not to love all of the soaps, because they are progressive compared to just 10 years ago when the start of QAF was so groundbreaking, and yet so real.
@JordanjamesX I don't feel it is the Public that is a fault for the actions of the TV execs in Britian and the US it is more the Press who is dictating the conscience of the rank and file thus the "Moral Majority" "snickers" as in the money speaks volumes as in the Prop 8 problems in California, small percentage of the Population donated large percentage of the money fighting against it, also controls a lot of the press, and not a real indication of the thought process felt by the Public.

And you can see in Part 293, after Chrolli had made up, a difference in Olli's demeanor to Rob, when Rob walked into NoLimits, and then when the coffee machine went down, Rob offered to "work" on it, and Olli shot him down immediatly!

Erm, is it just me or are these two getting RIDICULOUSLY good at playing a couple?! It's really incredible how natural they have become and great to see them stay so prominent for so long so they have the chance to develop as characters. Though we've had plenty of gay characters in every one of our soaps here in the UK none of them have lasted this long or had the romantic/sexual aspects of their characters remain so prominent. Watch and learn British TV execs!!

@rlugg Don't forget the US TV execs either, afterall the US Soaps make the British Gay Couples look like Porn, no kissing for what, 1 to 2 years no sex no hugging, no nothing, I was forgetting there was any sexual overtones with Luke and Noah, no wonder they went down the tubes, no pun intended!!!!

@LeeboyThunder But even the British soaps aren't as progressive as the German or Dutch soaps. On Emmerdale for example, the writers did not want to deal with Jackson and Aaron's romantic relationship in an honest manner. There were also a media story in the UK about British viewers complaining about the same sex sex scenes on the show Torchwood. The UK and USA have a lot in common not as progressive as Germany or the Netherlands in relation to homosexuality.

@JordanjamesX I really don't think that true life is reflected here, the real tolerance is in the UK and Australia, not German or Netherlands. I love the Soaps from these countries, but the overall acceptance in general is now in the UK and Australia. Hopefully there will be changes in the US and the other European countries, It is hard not to love all of the soaps, because they are progressive compared to just 10 years ago when the start of QAF was so groundbreaking, and yet so real.

@JordanjamesX I don't feel it is the Public that is a fault for the actions of the TV execs in Britian and the US it is more the Press who is dictating the conscience of the rank and file thus the "Moral Majority" "snickers" as in the money speaks volumes as in the Prop 8 problems in California, small percentage of the Population donated large percentage of the money fighting against it, also controls a lot of the press, and not a real indication of the thought process felt by the Public.

@VincentJTran Olli's attitude towards Rob has been heading this way since Rob did his little naked dance while they were cooking. And you can see in Part 293, after Chrolli had made up, a difference in Olli's demeanor to Rob, when Rob walked into NoLimits, and then when the coffee machine went down, Rob offered to "work" on it, and Olli shot him down immediatly!

Sorry Oli, I'm the one that wants to kiss Christian now. Jealous Christian is so very hot indeed. I don't know if VL show has a service in which the audience can borrow for a period of time either Chrissie or Oli from Chrollie anytime we want to kiss either of them. Then we can give them back to the show, so that they can become a wonderful couple again.

@mrsellencullen Yes, Many years ago. Tom and Ulli they broke up and along came our Olli and it was Tom and Olli then Tom went back to Ulli kleft the show and live happy ever after in soapland retirement, The actor who played Ulli is a well known Director in Germany. Hope that gives some background.
