  • actually a lot of a humans don't have tails.... look so weird

  • I love your video. The world should see it! But then, I am a cello, so I may be a little biased...

  • Boring buffoon

  • my sister left her cello in her apartment with no air conditioning...yea be careful when opening the case so u dont get hit with cello parts

  • Great intro, loved your method of explanation Cam

  • I've been thinking about purchasing a cello recently in the $700-$1000 range. Staying subscribed in case I do :)

  • okay your cool. ive played for years and you tought me a couple of things lol

  • so does a cello have frets nailed into the neck?

  • @vehlajatt22 no. but a viola de gamba can and it also has no inpin, seven strings, and you have to make the tension of the bow with your pinkie

  • @vehlajatt22 There are no frets on a cello.

  • I've been waiting for this for a long time. =)

    Thank you

  • I'm in love with you. <3 I can't wait to see more of these. I desperately want to play.

  • Please make more! I want to play cello so much!

  • I miss playing the cello so much

  • Thanks for the lessons! I hope you get to making more. Could you answer a couple of questions for me?

I really like the sound of the cello and I do want to learn how to play one, but I don't even know how to start looking for one to buy. Any suggestions? I want it to last through college, which I'm going to next year.

I also don't want to play the same classical music that you always hear (mozart etc.). Do a lot of cellist write their own music, and how can I learn to write my own?

  • @Enformata

Most music stores have cellos available to rent or buy, or you can ask an orchestra teacher in your area where a good place to get one is.

Also, some cellists write their own music, but that generally takes a lot of experience in music theory. (ALL MY TEARS. ALL OF THEM I CRY.) There's a lotof pop/modern sheet music floating around the intertubes, and there's even more classical music that you've never heard before, so finding music shouldn't be a problem. I hoped I helped. c: <3

  • @necorelli yes, thanks. But if you could point me in the direction of this classical music that I've never heard before... well then, that would be great too.

  • very informative, thanks.

  • I love you Cam.

I'm going to hug you like never before at A-Kon or whatever convention we'll both happen to be attending in the near future. <3

  • Omg, more please! I have played the cello for years, and I would love a refresher. And you teach with such humor as well as with actual valuable information and history! :D

  • @Kitsune0016 Er, haven't. Typo.

  • Very interesting.

Once you learn how to play a cello, can you just pick up a violin or a double bass and play it, I mean, are they the same, only changing the size?

  • Can't wait for Ep.2 !! nicely done !

  • What kind of strings do you use? My cello is coming out of a repair shop this week and I need to get a new set of strings for it, as well as a new bow.

  • @AzureShadow42 depends on the instrument, your income and the sound. Generally there are a lot of good brands out there. D'Aggario are usually good strings and are around middle price. There are a few other brands too. Generally medium tension is good (at least it's what I use). Other brands include Red Label, Jargar, Thomastik Spirocore and there are many many other brands.

  • @adriantween584 usually strings when new will always sound different than after they've been played on for a while.

  • i appreciate you making this entertaining for those of us who don't own and aren't planning on learning to play cello!

  • HOW TO PLAY CELLO

  • Go to Japan.. I saw a few Aluminum cellos there. Also weird to see you not in cargo shorts. :)

  • Watching you talk about the cello is incredibly entertaining. You can tell you love your instrument. :)

  • I play the cello! :D ive been playing since the 4th grade. i really enjoy your songs and i love the legend of zelda and i would like to know how you figure out how to play the songs. :D im in 10th grade now.

  • Loved the lesson! Though, I myself will probably never play the Cello or any other stringed instrument.

  • awesome sauce! Thank you very much... every time I see one of your videos, it makes me want to play the cello more and more! :)

  • i totally forgot how to play cello, thanks for starting this series

  • Awesome, keep at it!

  • Nice bit of a history lesson with that anatomy lesson. I like.

  • You are a great inspiration for my cello playing, and thank you for the review I learned something new (what the perphlings are for). please do more as I'd rather watch from some one I have heard and respect.

  • Best.Teacher.Ever.

    I'm learning now. :)

  • you're an absolutly amazing musician! not only are you able to play the cello, but you are an excellent teacher as well.being a musician myself, I find it really important to know about your instrument as it makes your music even better. I'm always so glad to see when you upload a new video, as you were my first subscriptions :D keep playing!

  • I have no clue why, but you remind me of that one guy that plays the Main character in the newer Transformers movies.
