  • OM freaking G, that is some damn awesome.

  • These solid rocket boosters are amazing. The sheer power behind them boggles the mind. They each have about 80% more thrust than an F1 Rocket engine used on Saturn V rocket. Had we used 5 SRBS instead we could have lifted 2 million more pounds off the ground, yet requiring a larger second stage to compensate for the smaller burn time.

  • Thats just frickn incredible. And to know that humans are on board. Omg

  • @sautdie im with you

  • Wow, this made me teary when everyone started cheering. I would give anything to witness this.

  • that was so blatant I wish I lived in America

  • i was in florida on the october of 2007.. seen a shuttle launch :P what one was it anyone ? :)

  • GREAT VIDEO! Just wish it was available without all the tacky text!

  • I live not far from the Kennedy Space Center so I've seen most of the launches, and I remember when this one went off it woke me up in the middle of the night from my house and windows shaking and things falling off my wall. It makes me sad that Obama is ending the NASA program, because it's a spectacular sight :[

  • @AmystikaAngel Obama is not ending the space program. The shuttle program is ending because it is outdated and should have ended years ago and has nothing to do with Obama . I'm not an Obama supporter, but I don't like misinformation either. The space program is continuing.

  • this is some good stuff

  • I was at the launch for the Discover on April 5th and it was my first time seeing a shuttle launch in person and it was just absolutely spectacular. I love president Obama but I seriously hope that we will continue to have the greatest space program in the world.

  • What a beautiful science.

  • WOOWWOoSA<XD ZhHHJLAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA AOOFOOOOoOoOoOOoO AAHAHHHHHHH OoOOOOOOOOoooo AKAA+AHAHAHAHAAH

  • oh my gosh!! it soooo awesome!!!! i wish i was there!!

  • was over there last week at 7.17am but it never took off. got my picture taking down the road with hall of fame shuttle instead. gotta love florida.

  • On 1:46 (right befor the shockwave) there is a Brazilian woman saying "listen the sound now" (Ouve o barulho agora)... funny...

  • Every human being...

  • My sister works for NASA and one year while we vacationing in Florida she asked if we wanted to go to Disney World or go watch a shuttle launch. ( She already had the pass for NASA'S restricted viewing area ) We chose Disney World. I regret it now that I'm all grown. I would LOVE to see a launch lve and in person..

  • YESSSSSSSSSS!!!!!

  • Just how loud was it from where you were?

The crowd reaction at booster ignition (I'm guessing?) was great!

  • omg i though it was just the sun!

  • nothing less than impressive

  • 'At the moment when the pyramid of flame rose to a prodigious height in the air it lighted up the whole of Florida, and for an incalculable moment day was substituted for night over a considerable extent of country. This immense column of fire was perceived for a hundred miles out at sea...' From the Earth to the Moon by Jules Verne published 1865

  • i was there amazing

  • that was beautiful!!!

  • This is on my life list. . watching one of these. Thanks DIS for sharing it with us!! I believe that the word, "Awsome" is used far too much but in this case, it is appropriate. :) Five stars and I rarely give them out.

  • that was cool nice view

  • it turned night into early dawn

  • that was amazingly beautiful

  • LMAO@"HOLY F***" at 1:28

  • 1:33, looks like a nuclear explosion

  • how creepy if u didnt know it was taking off

  • U r right, however I live not far from Kennedy/Canaveral, everyone around here pretty much knows when the launch dates are..lol, NASA has a launch date schedule on tgher website...It is the most amazing thing to watch...especially the night launches,,such as this video

  • their site...sorry

  • but, in the event of there being a neolithic-like group of people living not far away, guh.

but yeah, the night launches are amazing

  • NASA launched the sun back into outer space LOL :D

  • That's an amazing piece of machinery.

  • what a great vid - thank you

  • WOW...

  • YEAH, LOVE TO SCREAM, YEAH!!!! but that was cool, my cousin had a video of the same one, but 8 miles away straight from the other side of the water, looked like something out of a film

  • That was one of the best night launches I've ever seen. Cheers.

  • Yea it was awesome. Me and my friends drove from Melbourne and got there 5 mins. before the launch. We were on US 1 right across from the launch pad. It was my first night launch and it was the coolest thing I have ever seen. I wish there wasnt a low ceiling cause i would have loved to see it go all the way into space.

  • Must of been an awesome sight to see it in person!

  • :O :D go humanity!

  • omg u are so lucky that looked just amazing i would love to see that! what amaziing history! i loved the smoke at the end how it just looked so cool lol i want to see one so badly!!! AWESOME

  • You drove 2 hours,, and waited 5 hours, to see a big ball of flame in the dark for 35 seconds..

Would ya do it again ??

  • Yes.

  • Pretty soon the shuttle program will end, and you will never be able to see it again. It is an amazing piece of living history, and one day you may be sorry that you never went. I plan to try to see STS-125 launch in October.

  • What ?? No more shuttles ?? What will they be snding up then ???

  • Ares/Orion rockets. Moving up in space exploration. We'll be using to send man to the moon, setup a base on the moon and a manned mission to Mars.

  • Fantastic, visited florida and was planning a visit but got hit by hurricane charley instead, but this is enough to get us back, would love to see this for real. Excellent

  • Bawb I will miss these videos of you and launches but now you will be about to see every launch

  • Bawb you will be missed. Thank you for being you and for giving us your unique view of the world and life in general. If ever there was a person who enjoyed life to the fullest, it was you. Just really wishing that you could have enjoyed it longer. Thanks for the memories.

  • Rest in peace, Bawb. I'm gonna miss ya. I guess you'll have a pretty good view of all future launches from where you are now. Enjoy them.

  • We were on down the coast on Melbourne Beach, and it was just as breathtaking. What makes it spectacular is we were 40 miles away and it looked like it was just down the street. Is def something to see if you have the chance.

  • I was there when this happend... but there were two 5 year olds screaming near where i was. But it is more breathtaking when you see it in real life

  • That was awesome. Thanks Bob!
