In return of Sinai to Egypt, they will not be able to place any hostile units within(which is to this day) and Israel will receive annual defense fundings from the US (a sweet deal for IDF). Plus, Egypt was to recognize Israel.

Egyptian attacked Israel with 80.000 again 500 soldiers so not a big deal to win the first two battles. But then when the Egyptian army was heading for Israel itself it was defeated heavily. Egypt then focused on securing the wars early gains but the Israelis focused on one key point which gave them access to the western side of the channel. Egypt's Anwar Sadat was the one who sued desperately for a cease-fire because he lost the war, not Israel's Golda Meir.

The 2006 war in Lebanon wasn't a war against the nation of Lebanon, but a terrorist group. A guerilla war like the one Hezbollah fought against the IDF is hardly comparable to a war like the Yom Kippur War. Obviously the odds are stacked against Israel, but if it were to be defeated by the neighboring countries, it would have probably already happened. Now Israel's tech advantage is better than ever.

Egyptian 3rd Army was surrounded by IDF in Sinai by October 25th, possibly facing annihilation (Egypt lost control of the air where as IDF had full coverage over the 3rd army's position). Cease fire was signed under pressure from the USSR and US. Why are you forgetting some things? In 1973 both Egypt and Syria attacked Israel, Israel were caught compleatly unsupriesed.. On Bar-lev line 500 IDF soldiers were facing 70,000 Egyptian soldiers... Most of IDF focus during the first days of war was on Golan Heights because of its proximity near Israel... After the Syrian army was defeated Israel attacked Egyptians in Sinai, Israel won a big battle near Chiness Farm and crossed into Africa...

NNA80, The answer is yes we did in 1962,The sleezy chinese gained the trust of our prime minister Nehru and then turned around and crossed out border in order to gain more land,India knew about these preprations of war by the chinese but our PM dint listen,and we got thrashed around pretty bad,Our army was ill prepared no winter clothing, bolt action rifles,no roads..it was awful..but we dint concede any land ..horrific casualties though!!!

These numbers are of the battalions that fought under 14th brigade command. 87 was reconnaissance anti tank reserves, 87's troops were 25 to 40 years old.
407 was a Patton tanks battalion.
