Why do people say Escala is better because 'their songs sound more like the original'? If I wanted to hear something that sounds the same, I'd just listen to the original. Bond add nice touches. I miss Haylie though, she had the spark in the group.
Escala has a similar style to Bond. They are not necessarily 'copycats' but they did perform Palladio, which is much like Bond's Allegretto, but quicker. Also, Escala appeared after Bond, which tends to be misjudged. But personally, I like both groups.
OMG loveeee this song so much!!! I played this in Orchestra when I was in high school. And finding this is just awesome! I've come to love this band and hearing them play a song I did is just so cool. It makes me want to play it again :).
To me Bond is showy, and their outfits...well lets face it there are barely any clothing on them at all. I like Escala better, for a number of reasons. One being they don't change stuff all that much. And I really can't stand watching any of Bonds videos, they are just so showy and don't make any sense. Escala's videos I could watch for hours. They are both talented, but Escala is my fav!
This is just hillarous! I can image 4 talented music students at univeristy all in the dorm late one night, or at a coffee house after a party.. "You know, we just love serious music SOOOooooo much, but.. there's no way to make a living at it anymore. No one wants to come to concerts.."
"Well.. what if we used electric instruments.. and.. really skimpy costumes?"
"Well, how about this, add a wind machine and a light show!"
I’m accusing neither bond nor eScala of copying, but which version of palladio came out first? I like eScala’s version of this song better, but I like both bands equally, although I do think bond should be credited more because they were the first popular electronic all girl string quartet
I have an issue with alot of what Bond does, it sounds so over produced, too pop like, and does the girls, who are clearly very talented and beautiful, no justice. This isn't so bad, but their album work, is horrid.
@muzman52 I think their first album was pretty good. However, almost everything after that just turned into trash. Especially their album Explosive. OH LORD. All of it was just horribly over produced stuff. It was catchy, but they didn't even sound like they were playing their instruments at all. The only good track on it was Explosive.
@whoryhobopowers I'm a classical musician, and their music just lacks alot of the musicality, dynamics, as a result of the overproduced nature of their recorded work. They ought to be ashamed of themselves, call me a bit of purist, but really they were trained at the best music schools, surely the know better.
@muzman52 ok if you think that you are so much better then this group, I challenge you. First make an album and get on shows like this and also get more view then all of their videos combined on youtube which just looking on the side of recommended vids is upwards to 2+ million
There is you challenge go and complete it and if you do I will say that this guys suck, but until that task is complete which i am betting never will be just STFU!
@willyt1212 I never attested to my abilities, other than the fact that I'm a musician of the classical bent. Spew as much venom as you like behind your keyboard and monitor. You don't understand what classical music is. The girls have the skill; they ought to be more musical in their playing, other than thrashing out pieces with a rock band behind them. It's one thing to play the notes; it's another to play music. You are blind or gay if you don’t understand why they are so popular.
I heard them for the first time today on Pandora and it REALLY caught my ear...while I was working on a huge paper. They are really really good no matter what outfits they wear. The fact that they are a hot and into dramatics makes it even more fun to watch. If you don't consider them professional because of their outfits then you are crazy. Traditional does NOT EQUAL PROFESSIONAL.
Well i sorta agree with both sides here i think Bond as a group is technically very proffessional...... and by this i mean purely their sound... However it is true that proffessionaly do not wear clothing that detracts from the performance...Any clothing in a performance must only enhance it - not detract.. for those who do not know .... clothing is an important element of PERFORMANCE(not music itself). it is important and i believe that their clothing could be slightly less skimpy.
Bond is an excellent group, but I'm not a fan of their rendition of Palladio. They're playing the entire piece in staccato, which makes it more monotonous than the original piece which also has portato sections (sounds strung together).
@expomm I see nothing wrong with them being "copycats." They have the talent just like Bond does. They worked hard to learn their instruments just like Bond.
I wouldn't even necessarily call Bond "original." Before this, we had Vanessa Mae, and I'm pretty sure we had electric violinists before her too.
They just took the common concept of a string quartet and made it more pop and added electrical instruments.
Besides, there's plenty of string quartets out there who play with electronic equip.
@Tmangman1 My highschool did this song in Orchestra, and I'd like to think that we did it justice. It was the original version of course, but I think we did quite well with it.
@expomm if escala is copying bond then bond is copying every other string quartet that has ever existed. String quartets have been the most prominent chamber ensemble in classical music since the late 1700s they are nothing new. Not only that but escala has a deeper more rock feel to their music while bond chooses a up beat pop feel.
@expomm Bond is just the most popular string quartet. Among hundreds of them. And they are not copiing each other, they are just doing what quartets are supposed to do - play great music.
Yes you're right, their cholts doesn't help to much to apreciate THE music, but that's why those girls doesn't play such purist, instead they plays a kind of classical-pop music, so dont take so personal. Treir clothes are very distraction from, just keep your mind enfoquest on the music, not in they bodys... oh well,to do that will be little hard.

God damnit people, adding some crap electronic backing to a classical piece does not make it good. I have yet to see an actually decent performance of Palladio. Any recommendations? AND DONT SAY ESCALA. THERE JUST AS BAD. Why do the women always wear such skimpy and distracting clothing? Why can't they just wear a dress?
If they played fine that'd be great... but they're wearing such tiny and distracting clothing that it distracts (un/intentionally) from their all stacatto playing
real professionals wear clothing that doesn't detract from their music. If a quartet of top pros played like this and wore normal clothing no one would care.
What a load of crap. If your attention span is really so deplorable, you aren't forced to actually watch the videos--you can simply minimize your screen or browse away while the music plays. This is just looking for a reason to rag on good music and what a cheap reason it is. Honestly.
real profssionals? wow if they aren't professionals then I dont know who is. they are famous because thye broke boundaries and did things originaly unlike the professionals you are talking about. they also are following the theme of their set which they do a lot in other performances. your basically saying to be professional you have to following a mold which is ridiculous, so basically the entire muisc industry is full of unprofessional people?
they're not professional. There's a difference being professional and being professional. They are professional musicians but in the professional world they are unprofessional
Escala pure class...A1,we all have our own taste and opinions, and the skimpy clothes are fine by me,but i repspect your opinion as i hope you will respect mine.

Yes but wouldn't it have been smarter to put Bond- Palladio- Allegretto. That way if someone wants to search it they might actually find something.. Just a thought is all.

Eh, screw being professional and crap.
Especially with Bond.
Seeing them acting all professional in their performances would be boring.
Remember, they're not just playing their music like a regular quartet.
It's a full on stage performance.
I'm surprised no one said anything about the dancers being distracting, yet I hear comments on their outfits, which you can barely see too.
