actually im in a nice suburban area, plenty of green. sometimes see the foxes sleeping on my shed roof. they don't do any harm ... doesn't take long to reach the town though. they do kill rats, but i think you will find the poison more effective, and terrier work, but foxes also attack peoples livestock, and are never content with just taking one...they kill the lot, i dont have a massive problem with foxes in town, bar the fact that they make a mess, but thats our fualt, but in the countryside, the numbers do need to be managed, and all those who think otherwise should get off ther asses and go work for a poultry farmer, get a real perspective on countryside foxes.

My main stick against fox hunting is that in the past people took joy in hunting the animals... on horseback... with hounds... i personally see no problam with taking joy in watching natures finest pitting themselves against each other, seeing horse carry their rider over any ground, and seeing hound find the scent in 1000 agres of woodland, and although there is no joy in seeing the animal dead, there is satisfaction, especially if you know that this fox has been taking poults not far away. and it is humane, it just looks grizzly, to the ill informed.

hunting with hounds was by far the most humane way of getting rid of foxes, the lead hound will take the fox down and then this will be followed up with crushing bites to the neck, which kill it very swiftly, also the fox has a good chance of escape, and the best ones do, its the only form of natural selection for foxes, that dont have any other predators, shooting,snaring,and poisoning are indiscriminate,live traps are costly, the hunt was free,and now farmers have 2 pay 2 contrl foxes.

i to love nature, and undrstand it, i know that to keep no.s of some things up, you need to keep the no.s of other things down, foxes and rats kill rare ground nesting birds, which give townies something to look at on a rare visit to a well manacured countryside, if people want to see rare animals flourish, then predator numbers do have to be controlled, thank u for seeing the points i made, and i hope that it helps u to appreciate our countryside more, knowing that people have worked it for u.

Actually idiot, I live in the countryside, my parents have a smallholding, I was raised in the countryside and I worked weekends on farms for years, so I have 1st hand experience about how the sponging shits operate, fact is if you controlled the livestock better and spent money to fortify things the foxes would carry on through and leave stuff alone.
