They only add input to the game while recording in slow motion and using save states. Everything in this run can be done the same exact way on console if you use the same input.

This is one of the worst runs I have ever seen. Using all of the cheats your emulator has to offer and hiding it really bad. A real speedrun is done on a NES and actually takes skill to perform. This TAS can be done by anyone with the same tools.
I made a 42 min speedrun back in 1993 when most people didn't think it was possible to beat the game in under an hour. Things were more hardcore back then when you needed a VRC to record your runs :P

@bboyEBD Nope. Justin Bailey password gives you items, such as the Screw Attack, and there is no way you can remove them. What was done here is simple. You finish the game with almost nothing, so you get Samus to remove her armor for the next run. However, this gameplay here is tool assisted.
This game ran my life as a young child.....I would obsess over it.....I spent many a nights in a dark basement with a bag of doritos playing it until I mastered it....I never did.....for that I am a failure......Metroid beat me. Sad.

@damienmetalwind That takes all the fun out of it. Kraid is easy just use bombs. You're invulnerable for a few seconds if you're caught in one's explosion. Timed correctly kraid can be killed without taking a hit.
@Luigi84289 Yeah...I know how to kill Kraid. I've been killing Kraid for over 20 years now. That doesn't change the fact that normal enemies take off a ton of energy when they hit you, and they hardly drop more than 5 points of energy when you kill them.
If they can hit you when you're going through a door and can't move, I can get the Varia early.

It's a tool-assisted speedrun. He used an emulator to play it in super slow-mo and abused the crap out of savestates which allowed him to pull off all sorts of crazy glitches. There were no actual cheats.

I beat this game the other day. I had less than 30 points of energy left and had to shoot mother brain about 15 more times with missles. By the time I BARELY made it, my health was 2!!! My heart was RACING DUDE!.

He's not using cheats.
It's a tool-assisted speedrun. He used an emulator to play it in super slow-mo and abused the crap out of savestates which allowed him to pull off all sorts of crazy glitches. There were no actual cheats.

I beat this game the other day. I had less than 30 points of energy left and had to shoot mother brain about 15 more times with missles. By the time I BARELY made it, my health was 2!!! My heart was RACING DUDE!.

I like the way the energy resets to 11 when fighting the final boss. 00 appears like 6 times and goes back to 11. LOOKS weird.

A real speed run would've been nice. There is no skill in this video, just a goddamn bot beating metroid. Also, you get missiles for beating Kraid, 'tard.
