Really interesting discovery/overview on this Forgotten Worlds saga. Must admit i've always enjoyed playing "FW". Is the PCE a decent port btw? Good stuff mate! :D
@vintagevideogamegeek I cant believe people are still on here taking about this. I have done my own snooping and vintagevideo your are the one who is Wrong. Capcom did not make a dedicated cab for most games in Japan, only the US market got one for forgotten worlds. also there is no lost worlds for MD and 3Ds? What are you talking about? Lastgamer has friends at Capcom are you say his wrong, so are Capcom wrong?
I have every Japanese MD game and there is no lost worlds period! End of story!
Awesome stuff man. Really like the amount of research you put into trying to find out the facts behind the game, lots of work there. Its pretty cool as well seeing you pull out all those arcade pcbs :D
A female composer?! My hats off to Ms. Kawamoto, I love the music for both games! How about a CPS-1-- Super CD-- Mega Drive comparison for Forgotten Worlds someday :)
I have the same PC engine version of Forgotten Worlds bundle with the 3 button controller. Lost Worlds is sort of like the Stadium Events / Track and Field scenario except it wasn't a buyout type deal just a prototype name.
Now if only I hadn't presumed Tamayo Kawamoto to be male...
Switching out music is pretty common practice in game dev; On my last project (which was a tiny nothing game), the musician ended up making around 5 or 6 different versions of each track he produced with different tempos, effects, and at different pitches so I could experiment with what worked best.
I imagine large studios with dedicated composers would just have them go nuts with creating tracks.
i'm speechless. for some inspiration, what do you do for a living?
