@ParanoidAndroidDA Some gymnasts do wear them. Notably on floor, sometimes on VT. For some, it might be due to injury or orthotics like flat feet etc. so the orthotics are inserted into the shoe.
she cheats on her full turn, her other foot doesnt leavethe beam until she's already rotated half way. if i were a judge i would not give her credit for it.
@naturevalley10 i just explained ... she does a complete half turn on 2 feet and waits until she's more than half way rotated to finally take her one foot off the beam. so really she's only doing just under a half turn on one foot. i love her as a gymnast, but this is really lame
@benrobinson77 All turns are done that way it is just more noticeable here because its an outside turn, you need to push off of that leg to get momentum to turn so by the time you have pulled that leg up you have already started to turn.
I have always liked this gymnast...true not the greatest lines for an artistic presentation but spunky and her ability to rotate forward was incredible....different...the sport needs that..
I'm sorry, I try so hard to like Produnova (I do love her spunk and power), but I just don't like her style. She has horrible lines, probably from the fact that she has apparently not worked on her arches at all and thus her legs look as if they curve out from the knee all the way through the toes. She also moves too aggressively and makes it look like an attack as opposed to an artistic presentation.
I was so happy to see Yelena finish her career with a medal. She'd placed 4th so many times. She was thrilled to win the bronze on this event in Sydney.
Do you have any idea how difficult a double fron it to land? First of all its an arabian-like element, having a blind landing. The run up is key also, since she must generate enough power of the beam to complete two rotation. If her foot slips in the least bit, there is no way she can save the landing. Plus there is a tendency to do a deep squat on front somersault elements, which she avoided here. Its a difficult dimount which was brilliantly executed
hey srry, this is my other account lost the password 2 the other.i meant weird as in not commonly done.i actually like it.i just meant to point out you don't see it often.
wearing the shoes seems usual in gymnastics esspecially in floor exercise.simona amanar is one of the gymnasts who love to wear shoes

She's wearing shoes, because of broken foot

I love her warrior eyebrow. Does anyone know why she's wearing shoes? I've not seen more recent gymnasts wear them.

this final was rather boring...

Produnova was such an excellent gymnast. Too bad she had a tough time in 2000 but I'm glad that was able to pick up an individual medal.

-she doesn't point her toes
-her full turn is cheated

@bbhouk1 Your comments cracked me up, but yet I know exactly what you mean. The girl did have spunk!

@pappysprite
agreed! and i love the "warrior" eyebrow, it was a very original idea. she certainly never concealed her personality or tried to follow the crowd!

she has same coach as Roza Galieva???

Probably the most well deserved medal in Olympic history.

@gymnasticsloverxoxo yes im fully aware of all of that. i still feel like its an easy way out of having to perform a typical full turn on beam

her most incredible ability is to SAVE, one time she almost sit her dismount in her double front but she saves it by supporting to her feet
natalienat518 1 year ago
She hit and earned her medal. Produnova was 1 of the best of the quad.

It was the most difficult dismount of the Games. It now carries an F rating and there are still very few gymnasts who perform it!
