I saw Heep in a High School Gym in Germany, capacity 2500, 4200 in there, another maybe 1000 out side burning cars and being generally pissed off.Great time to be 19. Great life! 1972.Papa James
Ladies and Gentleman .............Mr Gary Thain on the bass............Mr Gary Thain. Gary was a rare talent with his meodic sound and perfect timing. One of the all time great rock and roll bass players.
@uglycustard1 Glad to see there are other Gary Thain fans out there. Who were the other bass players that influenced your playing. Any of these.... Entwhistle - Jack Bruce - Victor Wooten - Stanley Clark - Pastorious
@isodude1 yeah its funny I just seemed to have picked up a mixture styles Pastorious of course,Paul MacCartney,Geddy Lee, my uncle(K.Partis)! but the bloke who influences me the most in terms of style and attitude towards music in general is good old Herbie Flowers :) hes me hero ;)
David Byron could have been a soul singer. Yes, he was singing hard rock and such. David must have listened to a lot of R&B, blues, and soul back then.
The unique thing about Uriah Heep is their mix of fantasy and love. I am an Aquarian (born on the 5th of February). This why Uriah Heep blows my away with excitement. It just as if my soul is singing
@docfahmy "The minority, the ruling class at present, has the schools and press, usually the Church as well, under its thumb. This enables it to organize and sway the emotions of the masses, and make its tool of them."
~ Albert Einstein, letter to Sigmund Freud, 30 July 1932
@docfahmy "Behind the ostensible government sits enthroned an INVISIBLE GOVERNMENT owing NO allegiance and acknowledging NO responsibility to the people. To destroy this invisible government, to befoul this unholy alliance between corrupt business and corrupt politics is the first task of the statesmanship of today." PRESIDENT THEODORE ROOSEVELT, 1906
@docfahmy This passage is from The incredible marquis by Herbert Gorman entitled the soldier of fortune(chapter six) It was natural that Dumas believed implicitly in the magic of somnambulism, in animal magnetism and in chiromancy. No Haitian negro dancing before his Voodoo altar was more superstitious than Dumas. Home, to Dumas, therefore, was an authentically inspired adept in communicating with unseen world.
@docfahmy Have we succeeded? We think so. Before long we shall have covered with our narratives an enormous period of time; between the "Comtesse de Salisbury' and the "Comte de Monte Christo" five centuries and a half are compresed. Well, we assert that we have taught France as much history about those five centuries and a half as any historian. This passage is from The Companions of Jehu which was written by Alexandre Dumas pere.
@uzickismrad I question how comfortable he was in his own skin. Maybe you're seeing the seeds of his eventual downfall. Too bad. He was a decent front man, for a season.
Excellent!
