I remember almost beating this game at the age of 7, back in August of 1993.Then I gave this game to my cousin along with Jackal another NES classic. But ahh the greatness of the internet. Now all the old school games, and systems I want I can get for cheap.
I beat this game back in elementary school. One of the few games I could beat that none of my friends could. That last boss was a BITCH, damn near took up the whole screen. Good times.
damn i loved this game....played it alllll the time as a kid...i remember i reached some big green boss and u always had to hit them in the eye...great game..great memories
This was a great game, I was in the 7th grade and let a 9th grader borrow it. Never saw it again. The worst part is it belonged to my younger brother. My brother and cousin have not forgave me to this day for the loss. Daniel, if you are out there, you owe me a freaking Legendary Wings game, if I knew where to find you I'd wombo combo your ass... Damn YOU!!!!
=') my childhood. Seriously i played this and a hockey game with my dad called "blades of steel". I miss my childhood and now its gonna be 2010 soon. Time goes too fast.
Oof. I remember getting to water level was super amazing and for some damned reason the smoke always always got me. Always. Not entirely sure why dodging was always such a problem but it was.
I think it was on the last level where you could not escape the smoke. it was too fast for your movements so you always had to go inside. I hated it in there.
I used to spend the night at my friends house when i was a kid and we used to play this game for hours. That was before i coud even read so i never knew what game we were playing lol. Ive been trying to find out the name of this game since i was 6... I love it lol
Same... try asking other people if they've played it by describing it as a game with two angels in underwear that shoot at worms and giant heads. Doesn't work.
Looks like Dragon Spirit, except not quite as good, and with horizontal/side-scroller sections shoehorned in. When I was a kid, if I weren't too busy getting my Capcom fix from Mega Man 2 and DuckTales, I probably would've dug this.
Oh snap! I remember this! My brother, my sister and I would wile out on this bad boy everyday after school! We loved the 'Luck' stage...everytime we went in their grabbing those valuables we was like
That one sound effect at about 1:55 is similar to the one heard in Disney's Duck Tales (obviously another Capcom effort), in the Transylvania stage where a ghost approaches Scrooge McDuck.
The Palace theme was the best piece of music in this game.
And you seem to play exactly the same wai as I once did, I even remember the movements: when these enemies come from sides at the end of the level I used to move upwards exatcly the same way. :D
I really think the NES produced a WAY better version than the arcade. This game is so classic. Good music, good challenge, two player, cool weapons. It was addicting. Ya gotta love the golden eagle looking weapon. Tight-ass game.
Yo B... Legendary Wings was actually a fun ass game... 'cause some games just got stupid after Nintendo made zillions of 'em... but Wings was one of the goods
High Five and a 3.5 STARS ... Sountrack is kinda fresh too! Kinda pizzazzy!!!
I will add to the pile of the "thanks for posting!" comments by saying you rule for posting this vid! I loved this game growing up, so thanks for sharing it!!!
Nothing like remembering the games you played when you were a small child right? Hey have you ever purposely got caught by the smoke things that come from inside the mouth of that big face? My brother would get mad at me when I used to do that to him. Lol what can I say I loved that part.
I just have to say that the music in this game was great, particularly 2 or 3 levels of it (don't remember which) which were just really outstanding. I still play them in my head from time to time.
My sister and I used to play this game a lot. She actually was the only one who ever was able to beat it with me. We used to feel sorry for the dude who tries to suck you into his mouth. We figured he was really bored. being stuck in the crevasse and all, and the only thing he could do for fun was suck in poor saps who walked or flew by him. So we always went inside.
That giant head always gave me trouble whenever I messed up and got caught by the smoke. (For the arcade, to avoid it, fly on either far side of the screen.)
Guy.. This is a good memory of my kidtime too. I played this game with my brother until the end. Thanks for that. Do you now how i can download this game?
We both have that in common, I played this game with my bro as well! ^_^ Glad to see some one else enjoyed this game that way! We never beat it though. Thanks to the poster of this game. By the way does anyone have this game, I would love to buy it! ^_^
Now this one one extremely obscure and underrated NES title/gem/shooter!

This is obviously a revamped version of the 194X franchise (cf. 1942, 1943), which Capcom also made.

acidglow, you definitely need to make a 2 player video of this game. A must. It was the only true way to play this game.
bubufubu 4 years ago
Yer. I'll see if I have time to do it this weekend with someone.
acidglow 4 years ago
Yo It's nice to see this! It brings back allot of "lucky" memories. It was my first shooter as well. I would LOVE to see a video of each lvl!
