@u2john316 Thanks! I've used my Boss SD-1 on it's boost setting and it seems to give the same effect. I cranked the level of my delay up a bit too, as I noticed you have yours quite high
@FunkyMotherfucker If your pedalboard has a modulated delay and you have a good amp like a vox ac4, ac15 or ac30 plus a strat or similar then you are practically there :)
@u2john316 i'm just bad at creating presets. i've been exploring a little with the software for my digitech, i guess in good time i'll tweak it to perfection. i have a line 6 spider 2 amp and my gnx4 digitech pedalboard most definitely has all necessary delay capabilities and i have a mexican HH strat. like i said, it's just my lack of experience with the pedalboard and the software is what hinders me

@LFCmichael92 Because this guitar has humbucking pickups they can be useful for more stronger sounds. From a U2 context, Ultraviolet and Discotheque were used by Edge (for various reasons). I've used this guitar for songs like Electric Co too. For non-U2 stuff, do a search on Youtube, you will definitely see other artists/songs with it being used...The sustainer can be switched on or off.
hi , nice job! i got also a retrorocket elite and wantes to ask you about the center pick up. Its not a seymour duncan as the bridge one and sounds quite bad in comparison with the bridge pick up. I´d like to have a clean and bright sound , tany suggestion? thx!

You say you want to see how "good" he is? We'll let's see... he's the main songwriter in the biggest band on the planet. Pretty "good" I would think. I have played in bands with guys that could do arpeggio sweeps at lightning speed, could contort their fingers to make any chord imaginable, and were considered "great" players. The thing is though, NO ONE has ever heard of my friends. I'm pretty damn sure that being able to perform gymnastics on the fretboard has little to do with what is "good".
Question about these guitars: From the website, I've learned that while other pickups pick up the sound, the sustainer pickup produces that again to sustain the note, so when it's on, you can't use the neck pickup, and sustain at the same time right? Can you still use it as a 5-way strat when the sustainer is off, or are you always limited to the 3 strat-posistions? Thanks
he has a good sound but what hes playing doesnt seem hard to play. the effects are doing most of the work. i like effects but i dont like them when they are basically making most of the music. with good effects you can play random 2 note power chords and impress a lot of people but you really arent doing much on the guitar. i really like his sound though and he has to know what hes doing to get the sounds he wants from his effects. i would like to see him play more to see how good he is though.
@clewi1091: It might not be difficult to play, but it's incredibly difficult to create something like this from scratch. That's the thing. People forget that sounds like this simply didn't exist before Edge.

Yes it is. You need to buy the Fernandes infinite sustain kit and install it on a Strat... A few mods here and there, and of course, sacrificing your neck pup.
I've heard the wiring can be a bit of a dog's breakfast!! Hence I went with the stock Fernandes option here rather than re-wire one of my Fender strats.

Hello John :) I play this song too but unfortunately I don't have the amount of money to buy all the "right" Edge stuff yet. I use a Boss Me-20 for my sound, which works very well (missing the shimmer) but which delay unit would you say is the best? DD-20 or Timefactor?
It is like an e-bow in the sense that it can cause the strings to vibrate in a magnetic field. But yes this guitar offers better versatility. It is more musical and easier to control especially with more than one string potentially "sustaining" at the same time. I would never want to go back to an ebow after using this guitar.
Thanks Mick. The Sustainer pup is in the neck, and there is a Seymour Duncan Hot Rail in the Bridge. The middle pup is another Seymour Duncan - but not sure which one it is.
Must be awesome to get so close to Edge's sound. And yet so humbling considering he came up with it without someone to copy it off :-)

@Criddington It's not a strat but a Fernandes with Seymour Duncan pickups. These plus a boost comp from my DM4 helps drive the amp/notes more.

@LFCmichael92 You can play many songs with it (U2 and non-U2 sounds). It's also equipped with Seymour Duncan pups and is very versatile as a guitar.

Both are good. The TimeFactor gives you 40 presets (DD-20 has only 5). You might want to consider a Line6 M13 multi-effect (includes shimmer).

I don't think that this is even close to an ebow. Sliding the strings on the sustainer is so much different than using the strings... imho...
