You're right, the letter is about coded. The order of the games is Birth by Sleep, KH, Chain of Memories and 358/2 Days happen at the same times, KH2, and then coded. The Keyblade Wars happen in Birth by Sleep which is before the first Kingdom Hearts.

there is NO kh3, there never will be, there is only kh final mix, a kh1 with more stuff and kh final mix+, a kh2 with more things both are released only in Japan and will never be released in USA. but 3 more kh games will in late summer 09 or early fall09, they are kh coded for cell phone, kh 358/2 days for ds and kh birth by sleep for psp

The Keyblade wars have been referenced a few times. It may end up being Birth By Sleep or there may be more to it than that but Coded seems to have more to do with the events before Kingdom Hearts I. Even now, we still don't really know what Mickey was doing during this game or about what happened in the 9 or so years between Birth By Sleep and this game. It's difficult to speculate with so much left unexplained.

What happened between the nine years was kind of touched a little bit in Kingdom Hearts one... Maleficent was strolling the worlds with Pete, and using Heartless to do her bidding. And the mystery Xehanort was collecting the princesses of Heart who were captured before Kingdom Hearts one where Sora ended up setting them all free.
