cars are not faster striaght pipped unless they are TC or SC. If its N/A you lose power becuase there is no back pressure. And probably seems to add power becuase its alot louder and the exhaust is now flowing freely but dyno and see how many ponies you lost
Lol. Do you honestly think NA race cars have mufflers? Straight pipes ALWAYS add power as long as they're the right diameter. You only lose power if you bump up the piping size too much.
@sexyboi142 Actually you lose power if you do a muffler delete and cat delete. Doing both will burn your valves up. The engine must have at least some back pressure to run efficiently and correctly. You can do one of the two and make more power as there is lest restriction to the car's ability to "Breathe". However, doing both is a no-no and will make you lose power. But, dude, I have seen N/A cars making up to 5whp increase off of straight pipe, so that myth is busted.

more of a torquey turbo fan, but my experience with the SI has been rather good. There was quite some torque even in the 2-3k rpm range and the engine was so eager to work hard!!
It kills me how everyone thinks "shift at redline" Fool is stupid. Go get a dyno and find out where the torque peak is and shift there. THEN YOU WILL BE A GOOD SHIFTER.
@onlineg7 uhhh hondas whole power is in high rpms, have you driven one of these cars before? i mean if you try something under 6k you WILL feel like there is a whole in the engine or somethings missing... if you keep it as high as possible you will keep it from bogging down..
@onlineg7 not in this vehicle... cus vtec (kicks in yo!) starts at 6k rpm or so.. and peak torque is at 6200rpm, so, if you shift here (6200rpm) your revs would drop down to 4300 rpm or osmehwere around there and you'll be out of the vtec range.. In order to keep this car pulling hard you ahve to shift at 8000rpm (some do past redline at 8400) so when the revs drop you're still on vtec.. peace man
Nice but.... running straight pipe on a N/A car is gunna kill your torque curve... if it was turbo it would be different. 0-60 is pretty quick! My saab aero is turbo and can only does it in 6, but its an automatic. I think its faster 40-90 . The newer civics are quick. Not bad!
@rkjer the 0-60 is more like 7. I love driving this car when I'm not paying for the gas. The close-ratio tranny makes you run high RPMs on the freeway leading to that lousy 29mpg highway rating. Think about the Audi A4, AWD, turbo, more HP and WAY more torque, yet better gas mileage?
I LOVE HONDAS and I drive a Civic, I'm just waiting for Honda to do a bit better before buying a new one.

In doing so, I wanted more displaceement ( regardless of the hp gain) so I had the machinest rebore the walls to .20 over. The block had to be completely disassembled anyways. Let me guess... "real men" add bolt on's to their Subura's and think that they "built" their cars... HAHAHA. Get on my level

I own a 2008 4D SI as my commuter, 0-60 times are subpar. If you know how to drive you can tear it up at autoX due to weight magnitude / best chassis I've ever been in / weight distribution. 100 hp/Liter is pretty amazing for a Naturally Aspirated vehicle. And arguing with 'internet people' is a ridiculous.

I own one too, it's definitely floored because once you go into 6th, the car just stops revving any higher; It can go faster but not straight piped. I haven't tested mine past 124 but I'm pretty sure that it can go up to maybe 127 or something without being customized.

This is exactly what doing 125 in an Si is like, from the shift points and the speeds you are at when you shift to the time it takes it to hit that speed. 125 kph is like 78 mph which would make this car the slowest Si on the planet. All the naysayers need to get a clue.

i drive a civic 06, you can tell this is MPH because its next to the middle of the numbers. If it would be KPH, it would be near the bottom of the numbers.
That's MPH easy to tell since you didn't reached 60 in 2nd gear. If it was KPH 2nd would've topped at around 90.
On another note, why do most honda drivers shift the same way.? They feed the throttle too early. And some will even hold the clutch down while the floor it for an extra second.

In doing so, I wanted more displaceement ( regardless of the hp gain) so I had the machinest rebore the walls to .20 over. The block had to be completely disassembled anyways. Let me guess... "real men" add bolt on's to their Subura's and think that they "built" their cars... HAHAHA. Get on my level

Nice run! About a 6.5 secs. 0-60..which isn't that easy to shift considering you must use 3rd gear to hit 60--nice shifting. I'll tell ya, for a 2.0 liter, that car has some nuts--- Have fun--just be careful.

lol... I love how people think this is slow. It's got a decent 7.0 0-60 time. I drive a 1985 Toyota Land Cruiser. You know what I get? 0-60 in 28-32 seconds depending on the day of the week. 1/4 mile in 24. Yes. It takes longer to get to 60 mph than to go a quarter mile. I'd love to see any of you tools that talk about how slow this is to try and get 29 mpg in your V8. Of course... My truck is a I6 and it gets 10 mpg... lol.

I own a 2008 4D SI as my commuter, 0-60 times are subpar. If you know how to drive you can tear it up at autoX due to weight magnitude / best chassis I've ever been in / weight distribution. 100 hp/Liter is pretty amazing for a Naturally Aspirated vehicle. And arguing with 'internet people' is a ridiculous.

I own one too, it's definitely floored because once you go into 6th, the car just stops revving any higher; It can go faster but not straight piped. I haven't tested mine past 124 but I'm pretty sure that it can go up to maybe 127 or something without being customized.

To anyone who thinks you are doing KPH or whatever, they are clueless, and likely just here to bag on Hondas. This is exactly what doing 125 in an Si is like, from the shift points and the speeds you are at when you shift to the time it takes it to hit that speed. 125 kph is like 78 mph which would make this car the slowest Si on the planet. All the naysayers need to get a clue.

@Croatian90 i hope it would, but for that kinda money, i'd rather work on the si and it would easily beat out the 328i. 328i weighs more than 450+ lbs than the si, only puts out 230hp, and starts around $36,000. pretty weak setup for a $36,000 car !! that's about $14K difference. lol...that si could be easily pulling 300+ hp to the wheels without spending 36K total !! but then again, u got nobody else to beat so u gotta rip on a honda...guess i can see ur point. get a better car next time :)

That's MPH easy to tell since you didn't reached 60 in 2nd gear. If it was KPH 2nd would've topped at around 90.
On another note, why do most honda drivers shift the same way.? They feed the throttle too early. And some will even hold the clutch down while the floor it for an extra second.
