I suspect it's an IT string primarily attached to his left hand and then connected to an anchor in the back corner of the room. Additionally he uses his right hand to intercept the string occasionally whether it's between the anchor and the glass or between his left hand and the glass. A couple of give away are how he swings the wooden rod with a slight dip to avoid the string going towards hands or anchor. The cup can also slide along the IT which permits the appearance of it moving away.
Hi, MrsNoutmy. I can also make you appear here. I could use magic, but I will probably send you an airplane ticket, instead. That would be safer for you. : )
I like your sound effects but I think I have something even better. It's the perfect song for this or any similar trick where you don't talk. If I had your email address I would send it to you. Best!
One of the things I really like about working with IT is that the illusion can sometimes be so good that it almost seems like magic for the person doing it. You can almost fool yourself! I'm sure you know what I mean. Seven of my grandchildren saw me do levitations so much that they get bored now! :-) But my youngest got such a kick out of it when I did it for her last week. I love to see the look on someone's face. I have always loved levitation tricks and the IT is getting better.
BTW, well done! After posting, I realized that I shouldn't have done so because we shouldn't give away the methods. But I always get a kick out of the magnet and mirror theories. :-)
BTW, I suspect that the fake glass is also the type that appear to have much more liquid in them than they do. They are really two glasses (in this case plastic) with a space between them so the water is in the space between them. You can't drink it and if you looked down in the :"glass" you would see that it doesn't have water in the center. That's to keep the weight down for the IT.
LOL! There's no magnets or mirrors! Why do people think magic is always done with mirrors and magnets? It's just invisible thread (IT). Go to the website for any magic supply place and you can be doing this trick in no time. For this trick, you will need a glass that looks like it's a regular glass but is instead very light plastic.
@FrankCoffman The only reason I mentioned the fake glass is the weight factor. Having been an amateur magician for 53 years now (since I was 7), I do very similar tricks. There isn't much water in the glass but, even so, your IT must be fairly strong. I generally use a traditional reel or a Spider Pen for this type of stuff.
Yes, the IT is strong. It's not the usual IT used by magicians. I had to be careful not to break it. The key is to use it horizontally. This is my own illusion, but I'm not a professional magician.
just a mad idea, but do you reckon it might be on a bit of string, going through a hook on the eiling, attached to his shirt..? Maybe when he nearly touches the sting at 1.04 it's a giveaway....
it is used by profesional magicians to levitate things, its like a magnet, what did you use to make the glass float?? i always wanted to do that, because i can only make small things float..
it's a kit including various accessories sold by Ellusionist that allows you to a wide range of tricks.. i don't know if it can help levitate objects though
Actually, it's not wire. Wire would be seen. What he's using is called "Hoops" (a hoop of magician's invisible thread), and it's one of the best uses I've seen for it yet. I could tell about a quarter way through when he suddenly moves his hand as if he's removing it from something. I recognize this tell-tale sign because I've used hoops before for telekinesis tricks.
wow you showed the world the trick! Now it's going to bee less common. Some of us know how to do it, but you've spoiled it for everyone that belives in this kind of magic!
(and magicens will need a new way to levetate stuff now.)
Not necessarily. I've only revealed it here. Also, even if people know how it's done, I still use the trick myself, just because I can figure out variations on how to use it, solely to make people think I'm NOT using it. (I've developed a few failsafes for this old trick.)
HOOPS!?! If you actually used them you'd know they're called LOOPS. Anyway, he doesn't use Loops because they can't even lift a coin without breaking and they can stretch to about a foot at most. It's not real but this definitely isn't Loops, and obviously you've not used them.
It's invisible thread. It can be seen by the moves he made. One end of the thread is in the left hand and the other is behind the chair. It's so simple. Just watch when he elevates the srting with his right hand the glass elevates too...
you can get invisible string anywhere, you just need to buy string with ends you can frey, and then you pick ONE of the little tiney hard to see strings for it to be INVISIBLE! muahah! pretty intense right.
umm, why the fuck is he holding his left hand in the same, stiff fuckin' position all the time. And why doesn't he put anything between his left hand and his fucking glass...
That high pitch that everyone is talking about sure sounds like a lawn mower...and you can clearly see light coming in through a window so it can't be that.
just a question.. when he gets that stick how can he still levetate the glass if he needs equal balance if he had strings.. If it was strings wouldn't it go to the right side?
its a good attempt, i admit, but hes no copperfeild, if he really wanted to be good he would have turned the cup upsidedown or at an angle, otherwise u can see that when it swings left a little, it slings contrastingly right slightly, suggesting a central point of structure, which manifests that it is indeed controlled by strings (besides the fact taht u can see it also)
Some people can actually do that, I mean, Einstein picked up a chair with his mind when he got pissed once. I've gotten pretty close. You have to have the ability to access more than 10% of your brain power.

You may be right, but the title, Magic levitation of a glass of water, of course its an illusion though, but hey, i believe u can do that, in fact, science shows, that most people only use 10% of there brain, some people use 90%, but where is the other ten?

You're perceptive. Good guess work. You're on the right track, but actually, there is only one glass (plastic) and the water is drinkable.

Left hand always holds the wire. Sometimes the right hand manipulates the wire. This is especially clear at 1:47 when the right hand leaves the wire.
