Yeah I uploaded this before the movie came out and these mini clips were the only thing that were out there. Just never deleted them. The full clips are all over YouTube if you want them.
did you guys know that this song was written by Paul for John's son, Julien during his father's divorce. correct me if i am wrong. i read this online on a beatles website about song inspirations.
The fantastic thing isi get gitty like a school girl everytime i hear this song cus it has my name in it. :) but thats beside the point. this song rox. as did the movie it makes it a little bit easier for the current society to enjoy the neatles and all thier glory
I didn't really enjoy this movie. It would have been better if the Beatles were actually singing, and that it wasn't a musical. Just a movie with music in the background.
I didn't enjoy the movie either, but for different reasons. I actually like the soundtrack and the scenes were pretty good, but i thought the story was incoherent, there were to many subplots and characters. And I thought there were too many songs.
I LOVE The Beatles songs but the number of songs they had was insane, and it just seemed like most of the times the scenes were forced in there to showcase more songs, as opposed to developing a solid story. This scene felt more like it belonged.
Wow. That's really funny. How is my OPINION wrong? All I did was give my thoughts on the movie. Then some YouTube douche bag had to come and tell me that I'm wrong. Get a life, man.
Oh okay i was watching it on a WestJet Plane on my way to Cancun, Mexico and i didn't know what the title was, at the End of the Movie does the guy Sing a song and the last picture you see is a Girl smiling at the boy?
the only part i don't like really is the middle part where they're all high...i reminds me of Yellow Submarine (Which gave me nightmares as a child) lol
When i bought the dvd i was expecting to hate it, but i was pleasantly surprised. yes, some bits are a bit cheesy, but, at best, the film managed to give a fresh take on beatles song which didn't ruin the original, a pretty rare occurence.
I'm a massive beatles fan, but i think that people who make them out to be some untouchable gods are just stupid. you have to remember that after all, the Beatles were just a band.
the movie lacked depth and originality. I love Hey Jude, I hate across the universe.
If you're looking for pretty faces and a huge, generic stereotype of the 1960's and don't mind the poor plot that is riddled with cliches then this is the movie for you.

This is no cliche deary, if you wan't to see one, this isnt it.

the references lacked subtlety. The characters names- corny! They threw out references like when Prudence "came in through the bathroom window" that were lazy, unclever attempts to excite the audience with things anyone could pick up on (assuming they're even slightly familiar with the group). I think their music is too powerful to be reduced to smthn that has more visual than substantive appeal cos they were about content and not cheap amusement. I would have to disagree with the whole references thing. For instance, in the scene where Jude was sitting in the kitchen. He was drawing an apple, the Beatles symbol. The first scene takes place where the first beatles concert was held. The last scene, their last concert. The blue men in the Mr. Kite scene were from we all live in the yellow submarine. When Jude gets his paycheck, the song "When I'm sixty-four is subtly mentined." Yes, some references are blunt, but others are harder. So
So, please, as I was saying don't say that. I agree, it is extremely hard to do Beatles cover with even giving them the slightest justice. But, they did very well for what they were called out to do. Some songs weren't that great, I'll give you that, but all in all it was put together in a beautiful way with great talent. I will give you, some charectars had no beneficial purposes, and some scenes really had nothing. But, this movie was well produced, directed, and just all together well done.
I think the website rotten tomatoe's consensus summarizes my thoughts best: "Psychedelic musical numbers can't mask Across the Universe's clichéd love story and uninteresting characters."
It isn't so much the covers that I didn't like. It was the lack of plot and dependence of flashy imagery to evade the fact that the plot was lacking. I got all those references as well. References don't make a story good. The story and characters were weak and that is basically the point of movies.
I can completely understand your point of view. The story was very focused on the sixties, many of the scenes real. It was not exactly a lack of plot, it's trying to find the suggested plot that is a large issue. Many things the viewer must interpret which causes some people to believe there is no plot, but, I must say, there is. And I'm very happy about you just not sitting there and coming up with irrelevant reasons which bothers me about so many of the people who don't agree with the film.
I think wrong, the point of a movie is not the plot, but the storytelling. The heart of filmmaking is supposed to be storytelling and I feel that whatever story you take from it Across the Universe does an amazing job at it. I also have a huge appreciation for art and subtlety which makes me love Across the Universe as the art was so amazingly done in all aspects (including the "art of storytelling")
Oh my god, you're right, only Cobain is still to controversial to make a movie about, I think. It came out in theatres here last year....North America, I picked it up on DVD a couple of weeks ago.... it was released on DVD at the end of February i believe....
Its good, really good... but you have to be a BIG beatles fan to see it...theres like a total of a half hour of dialouge in the entire film.... the rest of it is all musical performances
yah stop bringing this movie down! It's fantastic!!!! It's just a directors point of veiw, and how she put it into film. No one's trying to take the beatles down. Jeez...
I registered at Fulltiltpoker com with the Referral Code PARTNER. This is where you get $600- as a gift! And all this with no risk! Does anybody else know of any poker rooms with such a great offer?
it was a great movie about the sixties and it showed how with all the hurt and pain of war, love still really conquers all, and it is all that really matters, plus the beatles wrote songs that are simply amazing

In able to fully appreciate this movie, you really have to be in depth about the metaphors. 99% of itis a reference and if you would like for me to name even a few to prove my point I will. The depth and controversey is never blunt within the film, but rather just explained through the music which I must say was done beautifully by the many actors and actresses.

The Beatles were authentic, this movie was trite

So

thats cause they had to tie the songs into the movie. it's basically:
*Beatles songs* *life* *drugs* *sex* *drama* *beatles songs* But i love how they're remixed :D

Jeez...

it was a great movie about the sixties and it showed how with all the hurt and pain of war, love still really conquers all, and it is all that really matters, plus the beatles wrote songs that are simply amazing
