PIPE SMOKING - REFLECTIONS ON THE OLD YEAR AND IN WITH THE NEW

Hey Chris, how do you decide what libations to drink with a pipe? Does it depend on the blend?

@TheAZTF YEs. I usually try to pick a libation that goes with the blend I am going to smoke. Given that I smoke only English blends, and darker beers, vodka or scotch, it's usually not a problem deciding, ha. Thanks for watching!

Got my first pipe, for a christmas gift. Thanks for making a great vblog, i have learn abit from you. I have ever smoked a pipe or anything, so I'm going to give it a try this weekend. I bought some Rum River at a local St Paul MN store but im hoping to try more english blends any thoughts on a nice mild ( entry level ) to try? O the pipe I got is a Savinelli Caramella Liscia 606 ( thanks wfe ).

Happy New Year to you from across the pond. I have really enjoyed British Woods..for me it's fairly heavy on the Latakia but tasty, smooth and with some sweetness and not high in nicotine. Some people have compared British Woods to Northwoods by Boswell and also to straight Frogmorton....not sure what your view would be on that.

As always Chris great video, thanks for posting it. Can you do a video about which libation(s) you like to pair with which tobaccos? I'm always interested in seeing what tobaccos your smoking and what you are drinking with them and I think it would make an awesome video. I hope your new year is going well so far.

Huge is great. I hope to obtain such a pipe this coming 2012. Cool smoking sounds good -- I bet the large bowl lends itself to make all tobaccos cooler due to the inherent filtering in the packed bowl. Plus the amount of wood around the bowl draws the heat away, I'd think.

Nice looking pipe there...I didnt even kno Peterson made a freehand...How would you compare that blemnd to Norrthwoods? NW is about as heavy a lat blend as Im willing to go...Im not big on lat blends...I really like FMATP which is more of a balkan then an english...you keep mentioning its sweet...I really think Ill have to give it a try..Really hope you have a better new year mate...its something we could all use.
