@lordspyrox Cheers guys, The tracks are all g after the quakes. I was riding during the recent 6.3 aftershock and didn't even feel it ay! Anyway, I'll post another edit up soon with more footage of Seasame Street and some other tracks
Great video and great riding. I am traveling from the US to New Zealand in March. Is the Christchurch area the best place to try out some downhill riding? Are there any shops in Christchurch that rent downhill or freeride bikes and gear.
@Mrchillify Thanks! The riding's got better now too as I did this video quite a long time ago! Christchurch is a great place for downhill, the Bowenvale area has heaps of different tracks both easier, and more difficult than the ones on this vid. Unfortunately you can only hire XC bikes here, but you could try getting a decent second hand bike - try our version of ebay - trademe.co.nz. If you navigate from the homepage - Sports>Cycling>Mountain biking>Downhill you should find some good deals.
@Mrchillify Also, Other great places to ride are Mt Hutt (1 hour out of Christchurch) Queenstown, Rotorua and Nelson. And I know you can hire downhill/freestyle bikes in Queenstown. Although I would recommend buying a 2nd job and selling it before you leave, because the bike hire can be very expensive! I also know of a guy who did this for his holiday here and he was stoked because he sold the bike for more than what he paid for it! If you give me your email address I can send trail maps etc.
nice vid, i used to downhill in bowenvale, wanting to get back into it, how are the tracks after all these quakes?
