loved them.. they always seemed to turn up...best time the test of the PA in Alexandra park the night before the rock against racism show when Graham Parker and the rumour showed up to play, other best time, Free Trade hall supports for the Alberto's and the rather contrived Devo.
Love all there stuff but best tracks are TOO YOU and ANGRY WITH MYSELF. Still waiting for the album SMIRKOLOGY to finally be released, brilliant band!
Takes me back to my youth!! saw them at the Apollo Ardwick Manchester supporting the Skids.Simon you were a star!! great band. Thanks for the great memories!! cheers Tony aka Clarkedeville from the Casablanca Steps
The VERY first record I bought at a 1980's boy scout jumble sale in Essex was the Smirk's "Rosemary". I thought the b-side: "up eh lancashire dub" was the coolest thing ever written! Wow, other people like them too!
Well this IS a treat. I saw these guys lots of times in and around manchester in the mid 80's. Simon Milner (far right in the pic) was a real star and deserving of greatness. there are 3 other singles/EPs. OK UK; Rosemary; To You check them out!!
Saw the Smirks at a matinee at the Factory . Great gig. Only 20 peeps there. Great gig. Anybody remember this ?

Saw them at the Marquee in 1979. They were mega - what happened? Why couldn't they and so many other great bands of the time remain mega forever?

Great band that should've been big in the UK. They would go down a storm these days.
