Now everybody can be their "cool".
Not trying to offend anybody, but it's true. Check out the videos and pull out the weasel words.

Waiting on Apple's solution for Blue Ray. I feel they are falling behind on this one. They were on top of Bluetooth, 802.11N and Dual Layer DVDs. Still waiting on Blue Ray.
To reinstall the OS on a Psystar running Leopard it looks like it's a pain in the ass, mainly because you have to deal with BIOS and do some run around smoke show to get it to work, a good example of this is the Leopard patch on the Psystar site. On my Mac I hold down the "C" key and will be up and running in 30-35 minutes. Simplicity man, that's where its at and Macintosh has it and always will. Psystar compromises quality, simplicity, and probably dependability with their products.
i don't like the idea of Apple licensing their OS to third party hardware makers. i think you're very right that it would obviously increase their market share. but they're doing just fine by making their own hardware and software that work together. i wouldn't care either way, cuz it'd definitely be a HUGE hit in the PC world, but i just like the way Apple is now. i like that they're closed off and secretly unique. i think it's their hardware/software integration that's making them huge again.
i think the more you people talk about psystar, is the more people are gonna learn about it. the average consumer knows nothing about psystar. its a wack hack job of mac os x on ugly PCs. they're just another illegal company...
Guys, if you think about this, this can possibly end the Apple Corporation for hardware. If that company can make MAc OS X work on their machines, they, can possibly sell it to other manufactures like HP and Dell. And Mac OS is cheaper in price than Vista. Apple and its hardware cannot compete against the company that hacked Mac OS to work. I would might as well get a computer like this because of the cheaper price, but its like a disgrace to Apple. I hope they dont copy the ipod anytime soon.
Apple won't bother taking Psystar to court over this because they're small-fries, and they aren't hurting Apple's core business. If the other large OEMs started doing the same they would catch hell in the court room.
Also, I very much doubt the other OEMs would buy second hand software liscences, for an OS that isn't exactly user-friendly when not running on very particular hardware (lack of auto-updates etc) when Windows does a fine job for them as is.
I agree that other OEMs could do it, and make it work. They certainly have the necessary resources.
What I mean is that it's not worth their time to support a hacked OS, hack it in the first place, and then test it with every combination of hardware that they sell.
Before I get flamed, the only OEM I trust is Apple albeit the lack of any of their machines in my home. I love what the osx86 community for my personal needs. I require a Mid-range tower and would love OS X, Apple does not provide me that. I know the whole iMac debate but I do need the internal storage options. Sure I have to hack drivers but it's a computer and it fits my needs. After my new PC I'm going to buy a Macbook Pro and then maybe a Mac Pro if I can warrant the power.
Remember that Jobs said that they should let go of the' "...for Apple to succeed, Microsoft must lose" mentality. Microsoft and the PC companies will remain, because the market dictates that there should be those to serve the lower end PC market. Apple's niche is the +$1000 PC market.
BTW, Psystar is a hack. How serious can this start-up be to challenge a huge company like Apple on legal grounds without even having at least an attorney?
Licensing OS X to PC manufacturer's would destroy the harmony of hardware and software that makes Mac and OSX great. Apple will be so busy trying to make OS X compatible with a variety of hardware and this actually will make them more inefficient. Apple will be sluggish to update OSX and it will lag behind.
Apple is already more profitable than Microsoft comparatively speaking, they don't need to go down to lowering the quality of the product just to get more people to use them.
I Think that it is a bad idea. because when shit happens and it will. people will blame the software instead of the hardware. That is why apples stays relative problem free is because the software is tuned to the hardware great vid
I reallllly want Apple to license OS X to non-Apple hardware, because I'm thinking about upgrading my PC, but I know that one day I will switch to Mac, and when I do switch the upgrades will have been a waste.
The thing is though if Apple release OS X on non-macs, it will sell well enough to make a dent in their hardware sales, but not well enough to regain that money from extra marketshare. It will lose them money, just like it did in the 90's.
"The thing is though if Apple release OS X on non-macs, it will sell well enough to make a dent in their hardware sales, but not well enough to regain that money from extra marketshare. It will lose them money, just like it did in the 90's."
YES!
Finally, someone who remembers what happened the LAST time this crap happened!
It was a stupid idea then and it is a stupid idea now.
If on average people pay $1500 for a mac, a copy of Leopard costs $129 but we'll round up to 150 for ease. 150 is a tenth of 1500 . Apple has a 7% marketshare worldwide meaning to actually make the same money off the deal as opposed to just limiting it to macs they would need a 70% marketshare. Not gonna happen.
Obviously that is an estimate, and there is A LOT of stuff I havent taken into account, but thats a basic idea.
That's only correct if they stop selling hardware completely. While I agree that it's not in their interests to sell it as-is, I doubt it would destroy them. At the very least the Pro would remain a popular machine with creative professionals.
Of course the argument shouldn't be "Apple should lisence OS X to other OEMs.". It should be "How can Apple get OS X onto more computers without impacting their hardware sales?". I find the potential middle-ground a much more interesting subject.
Psystar Computer's are great actually. Maybe OS X isn't the best thing to run on it. And also correction on this. I started the whole Psystar battle outrage. xD OSX 86 isn't what they run. So I'll admit it it's good! Thank goodness someone had the guts to spend the time to sit down and finally do it. It's for sure a achievement. This is a GREAT pro. Your right. Apple's realizing it's not quite so secure after all. ;) I heard that about 10.6 as well. So0o0o0 never know! :D 5 stars from me.
They are really Pros messing around with OSs....they sellin "Multiplatform-PCs"....and I want Apple to buy the whole psystar-company...I think they would do a good Job 2getha.
But Apple also has to be carefull about their EXCLUSIVNESS!
What I mean is: If u have such a great company be carefull who u messin with...
osx on a 300 dollar machine is disgraceful. all it means is more problems and bugs form osx being on shitty hardware. Pc manufacturers couldnt config osx for there setup because you never know what the owner will put in it at home.
Well think of it like this. The PC user wanting to switch and try something new only wants to spend $300. Think about it DRBUK they may actually be doing something. Think about what Apple's doing for them self. Apple should do it. I think that schools would be hitting OSX on PC's so now we may be seeing more OSX PC's in schools. So yeah. Nice video man. But think about it man. There is some people who only think $300-$400 is there limit.
But if OS X was legally licensed out all the existing problems would not exist,
The fact the psystar has so many problems is down to the fact OS X has been hacked to hell to get on there.
If apple licensed it, drivers would be wrote, and hardware would be supported.
PC hardware is not ALL shit buy wisely and your fine, you know that :)
Home users could easily switch to OS X from windows everything a home user needs is out there on mac, they get the benefits and don't pay the apple tax :)
Honestly, do you really think apple would sell as much hardware with osx on 300 dollar machines? You really think that? You really dont think people wouldnt say, "AWW shit, ill get a real mac next year." No way would hardware sells not suffer adn osx bugs would go up. very few people buy macs because they look good. That dont sell hardware liek mrbit lets on. if people wouldnt choose the cheap non apple hardware than whats the point? of course they would.
Emeek? Think about this. For it to be $399. Add OS X on it that makes it $554. That's the think Emeek. It's as much as a Mac Mini. You know? Think about what I spent on mine. I went OVER the price of a Mac Mini and touched on a iMac you know? I even put the 8800 on mine got OS X, Vista on my Machine. Imagen all the users ready to switch for a change? It's a GOOD move in my opinion. Nice comment I agree with it. Thumbs up.
people dont understand that osx being open like windows means TONS of bugs due to bad drivers, and cheap hardware. Apple couldnt control it like it does now. its a bad idea. apple is not windows.
There are no Pros. Apple won't let PC users install it there. Like Steve Jobs said, "WE DON'T SELL JUNK". Apple makes most of their profit from hardware sales. If that happened hardware sales would go down a lot. And Macs are software+hardware integration.
Their OS is only good thanks to tuning. Windows would massacre it in the PC environment. Apple is a hardware company, it makes its core profits from hardware, the OS is just an add-on, and would kill Apple to license it to PC architectures in the long term.
Sorry if the dual-comment sounds bad, just needed to clear it.
I remember watching a MacWorld from 1997, the time when apple got Steve back and started to sort out all its issues. Here's a quote from Jobs "the mac os is an incredible core asset to apple... at the core apple is about the mac os" Basically, he said the two core assets of apple are the customer base and OS.
Times have changed quite a bit now but on the computer side, its still all about the OS. It's definitely not a "add-on" to the mac, it IS the mac. People buy it for the software :)
I'm not saying you're wrong, deadfred, it's just the point I was making was that if the OS was released to PCs, it wouldn't stand a chance. Security is poor in OS X (not saying it's a big risk though, nobody cares), compatibility is poor in OS X, I could go on. OS X + PC will defeat the object of the Apple brand.
I do agree though, I do buy the Apple products for the OS, but just as much as the hardware.
you could go on? go on then. compatibility is better than windows, and security rarely has anything to do with hardware. i agree however that OS X should NOT be open to regular PCs as the exclusivity of buying a mac and the optimisation of hardware and software would be lost.
thanks. by compatibility, i meant with devices like printers, cameras, scanners, and flash drives. i can plug almost anything into a mac and OS X will recognise it. in vista, it wouldn't even recognise my flash drive and i had to get a new scanner and printer.
It's just OSX86, and isn't tuned as such - the hardware is just checked for compatibility.
Apple computers have a chip in it that allows OSX to run. The only difference is they took out the portion of the kernel that checks for he chips presence. That is OSX86.
Apple will never license OS X for non-Apple architecture for brand integrity. BoD will accept that, as it will only be a short time share boost. It will collapse after that.
Just wait windows 7 is coming out sometime in the next 2 years and its not going to be as bad as vista and rumors have said it has alot of inovation and this little run that apple had with their os x will slow down and windows will have a stable operating system.
i haven't seen anyone installing the original OS X on the Psystar, therefore I'm am 99,99% sure that what they sell is actually Kalyway in a beautiful box. I say this because Kalyway has patched updates, the original 10.5.2 from Apple can not be done and THAT"S EXACTLY THE CASE FOR PSYSTAR, thus i'm so so sure that is just OSX86. My point is, why pay for something that comes free? OSX86 is free, it's illegal but it's free. I'll do a video response soon.
I dont think windows would fall.although i'd like them too. As it is more likely that places like schools and offices already running windows would stick to running windows to avoid having to give all there wokers courses on how to use a mac and avoid the complication of having to buy all mac computers and set them up. Most people in my school dont have a mac becuase there too expensive but becuase to them they are too complicated and different
Apple hardware systems do look better, but the average computer user/buyers go for price, and if Apple sells OS X on other hardware, a lot of people will buy the cheaper hardware, that Apple hardware.
I am also worried about Apple getting to big as a company, as the products could get crapper, in design & stability.
You're right I completely agree with everything you said. There should be some sort of middle ground where you could run superior apple software with superior PC hardware.
i kinda agree with intel chips, but not so sure about that, any info please explain. but there is always going to be a batle between apple securing there os and hackers baeking it, as long as apple continue to do the best they can the better the os is secure. until the nxt hack.lol
In the same way, Apple doesn't really care about marketshare itself but only to deserve the growth of It's user base by releasing good products.
Products that doesn't produce frustration, or remorse
Roughlydrafted has issued 2 new articles (more to come) about the 10.6 rumors in kinda divergent pov concerning "no new features" "no more carbon" "PPC support dropping"
rumors sites are a serie of echo chambers
PS : Apple= NO Dividend for ages :
What shareholder gain is the value of their stocks
ye apple are lukcy they have patient shareholders, gain in value of stocks is good but neeeds time, liek i said apple are lucky, i guess its down to effective communication to shareholders by jobs, he works wonders wen he talks.lol
AAPL is a highly speculative stock (ie: stupid thumbling of Jan 2008 => Apple Inc. Issues Q2 2008 Guidance Below Analysts' Estimates) but an over look of the past 5 years kinda give Apple credit for their politic regarding divident Apple sotck price (cf. google finance) june 2003 : ~9 June 2004 : ~15 June 2005 : ~39 June 2006 : ~62 June 2007 : ~125 June 2008 : ~186 with this progression, no need of charming snake abilities (RDF) Only Wall Street pundits do panic on good news
Apple / Micorosft Mkt Cap : 165B / 260B (1.6x more) NI 2006 : 2B / 12.6B (6.3x) NI 2007 : 3.5B / 14B (4x) NI Q2 March '08 : 1B / 4.4 (4.4x) OS Marketshare : 7.83% / 91.3% (11.66x) So per marketshare % Apple is far more valuable (~2.6x more) than MS, again because Apple makes profit on hardware not on software ___________ B : Billion $ (rounded approximations) Mkt Cap : Market Capital NI : Net Income sources : Netapplication and Google
Alan Kay :"People who are really serious about software should make their own hardware."
And that's exactly what Apple has done and will probably do as long as Steve Jobs is in charge.
Psystar trick (reselling OSX86 hijacking) could make some buzz and free advertizement at 0 risk (Appl doesn't have to support OSX on non Apple Hardware and won't)
they just emulated the mac os x on a pc but remember its not apple hardware, so not everything is going to work andmost of the good software will not run.
There is no emulation on OSX86 only hacked software components and conformation to a short list of hardware components
Basically some of those software parts are directly dumped from Darwin (the Opensource subsystem of OS X which run unpatched on BIOS PC) and some other are patched
Latest OSX86 news were about making a "Efi on BIOS" software layout in order to get rid of the patched soware components.
Psystar was rumored using It, but the facts says It's otherwise (patch and Darwin dump)
Hello BUK im writing this while im watching and about 0SX86 and i have installed it on my computer ad took it off the same day because you have to be very very lucky if you can find the drivers. i agree with you that apple has to do something to make OSX even more bombproof than it already is. i hope they dont license it out what would happen to the apple stores? big black boxes beside a mac pro no! and i agree that apple not only are leading in desighn but always have been. thanks very much BUK

wouldnt apple decrease profits because pc hardware is cheaper
onthenetgear 3 years ago
Guys, if you think about this, this can possibly end the Apple Corporation for hardware. If that company can make MAc OS X work on their machines, they, can possibly sell it to other manufactures like HP and Dell. And Mac OS is cheaper in price than Vista. Apple and its hardware cannot compete against the company that hacked Mac OS to work. I would might as well get a computer like this because of the cheaper price, but its like a disgrace to Apple. I hope they dont copy the ipod anytime soon.
onthenetgear 3 years ago
Apple won't bother taking Psystar to court over this because they're small-fries, and they aren't hurting Apple's core business. If the other large OEMs started doing the same they would catch hell in the court room.
Also, I very much doubt the other OEMs would buy second hand software liscences, for an OS that isn't exactly user-friendly when not running on very particular hardware (lack of auto-updates etc) when Windows does a fine job for them as is.
bombkangaroo 3 years ago
yeah, but the other oems have the same right as psystar. who care pysystar stucks. you cant even do an mac os x update without screwing it up
onthenetgear 3 years ago
I agree that other OEMs could do it, and make it work. They certainly have the necessary resources.
What I mean is that it's not worth their time to support a hacked OS, hack it in the first place, and then test it with every combination of hardware that they sell.
bombkangaroo 3 years ago
yeah, but i think any company would spend their time to do that. they will be thinking off all the money they will make

apple is the rolls royce of computers thats why steve wants to keep it closed and off of pc hardware
StevedMac 3 years ago
Personally, I do not believe Apple will ever open OS X, at least as long as Steve Jobs is with the company.
chazybrewster 3 years ago
Before I get flamed, the only OEM I trust is Apple albeit the lack of any of their machines in my home. I love what the osx86 community for my personal needs. I require a Mid-range tower and would love OS X, Apple does not provide me that. I know the whole iMac debate but I do need the internal storage options. Sure I have to hack drivers but it's a computer and it fits my needs. After my new PC I'm going to buy a Macbook Pro and then maybe a Mac Pro if I can warrant the power.
darkmaster5 3 years ago
I have some ideas about how Apple could cater to guys like us, whilst not impacting their core business. It's in one of my videos.
bombkangaroo 3 years ago
Remember that Jobs said that they should let go of the' "...for Apple to succeed, Microsoft must lose" mentality. Microsoft and the PC companies will remain, because the market dictates that there should be those to serve the lower end PC market. Apple's niche is the +$1000 PC market.
BTW, Psystar is a hack. How serious can this start-up be to challenge a huge company like Apple on legal grounds without even having at least an attorney?
Psystar is a hack BTW.

ArchiLinux 3 years ago
I 100% agree
I don't think apple should, and i don't think they will
That is why apple is unique and make the best products

I Think that it is a bad idea. because when shit happens and it will. people will blame the software instead of the hardware. That is why apples stays relative problem free is because the software is tuned to the hardware great vid

Increase Marketshare at the expense of eating millions of dollars worth of unsold plastic?
No thanks.
OSX price= $120
iMac Price= $1,200
Losses from selling OSX to a clone manufacturer and not selling an iMac
- $1,080
Times that, by say, a million and you'll see why Apple doesn't do this.
Seriously, Mobility components are not cheap and the window of opportunity to sell hardware is SHORT.
If Apple doesn't sell X amount of machines by Y date, they lose a LOT of money.
n0sc0p35 3 years ago
psytar didn't work out how to hack it. They just leeched off the open source osx86 project. This has been possible for a long time!

I reallllly want Apple to license OS X to non-Apple hardware, because I'm thinking about upgrading my PC, but I know that one day I will switch to Mac, and when I do switch the upgrades will have been a waste.

If Apple makes Mac OS 10.6 a open OS then Apple would make so much money and the Mac software would increase by over 100% easy. good video by the way
DavidsTechShow101 3 years ago
The thing is though if Apple release OS X on non-macs, it will sell well enough to make a dent in their hardware sales, but not well enough to regain that money from extra marketshare. It will lose them money, just like it did in the 90's.

Hypothesard 3 years ago
If on average people pay $1500 for a mac, a copy of Leopard costs $129 but we'll round up to 150 for ease. 150 is a tenth of 1500 . Apple has a 7% marketshare worldwide meaning to actually make the same money off the deal as opposed to just limiting it to macs they would need a 70% marketshare. Not gonna happen.
Obviously that is an estimate, and there is A LOT of stuff I havent taken into account, but thats a basic idea.
niceveritt 3 years ago
That's only correct if they stop selling hardware completely. While I agree that it's not in their interests to sell it as-is, I doubt it would destroy them. At the very least the Pro would remain a popular machine with creative professionals.
Of course the argument shouldn't be "Apple should lisence OS X to other OEMs.". It should be "How can Apple get OS X onto more computers without impacting their hardware sales?". I find the potential middle-ground a much more interesting subject.
bombkangaroo 3 years ago
Psystar Computer's are great actually. Maybe OS X isn't the best thing to run on it. And also correction on this. I started the whole Psystar battle outrage. xD OSX 86 isn't what they run. So I'll admit it it's good! Thank goodness someone had the guts to spend the time to sit down and finally do it. It's for sure a achievement. This is a GREAT pro. Your right. Apple's realizing it's not quite so secure after all. ;) I heard that about 10.6 as well. So0o0o0 never know! :D 5 stars from me.

osx on a 300 dollar machine is disgraceful. all it means is more problems and bugs form osx being on shitty hardware.

There is some people who only think $300-$400 is there limit.
xXEx3cuti0n3rXx 3 years ago
But if OS X was legally licensed out all the existing problems would not exist,
The fact the psystar has so many problems is down to the fact OS X has been hacked to hell to get on there.
If apple licensed it, drivers would be wrote, and hardware would be supported.
PC hardware is not ALL shit buy wisely and your fine, you know that :)
Home users could easily switch to OS X from windows everything a home user needs is out there on mac, they get the benefits and don't pay the apple tax :)
DeadFredVideo 3 years ago
Honestly, do you really think apple would sell as much hardware with osx on 300 dollar machines? You really think that? You really dont think people wouldnt say, "AWW shit, ill get a real mac next year." No way would hardware sells not suffer adn osx bugs would go up. very few people buy macs because they look good. That dont sell hardware liek mrbit lets on. if people wouldnt choose the cheap non apple hardware than whats the point? of course they would.
emeek77 3 years ago
Thumbs up.
xXEx3cuti0n3rXx 3 years ago
Adrian the point that you don't get is that APPLE DOESN'T CARE ABOUT MARKET SHARE. They just care about making great products.
MacOSXrulez 3 years ago
people dont understand that osx being open like windows means TONS of bugs due to bad drivers, and cheap hardware. Apple couldnt control it like it does now. its a bad idea. apple is not windows.

true that.
ki2594 3 years ago
There are no Pros. Apple won't let PC users install it there. Like Steve Jobs said, "WE DON'T SELL JUNK". Apple makes most of their profit from hardware sales. If that happened hardware sales would go down a lot. And Macs are software+hardware integration.

Their OS is only good thanks to tuning. Windows would massacre it in the PC environment. Apple is a hardware company, it makes its core profits from hardware, the OS is just an add-on, and would kill Apple to license it to PC architectures in the long term.
Sorry if the dual-comment sounds bad, just needed to clear it.
lawrencejob1 3 years ago
you said it perfect right here in the above comment.
emeek77 3 years ago
I remember watching a MacWorld from 1997, the time when apple got Steve back and started to sort out all its issues. Here's a quote from Jobs "the mac os is an incredible core asset to apple... at the core apple is about the mac os" Basically, he said the two core assets of apple are the customer base and OS.
Times have changed quite a bit now but on the computer side, its still all about the OS. It's definitely not a "add-on" to the mac, it IS the mac. People buy it for the software :)
DeadFredVideo 3 years ago
I'm not saying you're wrong, deadfred, it's just the point I was making was that if the OS was released to PCs, it wouldn't stand a chance. Security is poor in OS X (not saying it's a big risk though, nobody cares), compatibility is poor in OS X, I could go on. OS X + PC will defeat the object of the Apple brand.
I do agree though, I do buy the Apple products for the OS, but just as much as the hardware.
lawrencejob1 3 years ago
you could go on? go on then. compatibility is better than windows, and security rarely has anything to do with hardware. i agree however that OS X should NOT be open to regular PCs as the exclusivity of buying a mac and the optimisation of hardware and software would be lost.
kockgunner 3 years ago
Compatibility with what? Other than that, well said.
lawrencejob1 3 years ago
thanks. by compatibility, i meant with devices like printers, cameras, scanners, and flash drives. i can plug almost anything into a mac and OS X will recognise it. in vista, it wouldn't even recognise my flash drive and i had to get a new scanner and printer.
kockgunner 3 years ago
It's just OSX86, and isn't tuned as such - the hardware is just checked for compatibility.
Apple computers have a chip in it that allows OSX to run. The only difference is they took out the portion of the kernel that checks for he chips presence. That is OSX86.
Apple will never license OS X for non-Apple architecture for brand integrity. BoD will accept that, as it will only be a short time share boost. It will collapse after that.
lawrencejob1 3 years ago
Just wait windows 7 is coming out sometime in the next 2 years and its not going to be as bad as vista and rumors have said it has alot of inovation and this little run that apple had with their os x will slow down and windows will have a stable operating system.
titans1090 3 years ago
i completely agree that os 10 is beter then windows and i have have windows machines and macs
macwanter 3 years ago
i haven't seen anyone installing the original OS X on the Psystar, therefore I'm am 99,99% sure that what they sell is actually Kalyway in a beautiful box. I'll do a video response soon.
bijhua 3 years ago
I dont think windows would fall.although i'd like them too. As it is more likely that places like schools and offices already running windows would stick to running windows to avoid having to give all there wokers courses on how to use a mac and avoid the complication of having to buy all mac computers and set them up. Most people in my school dont have a mac becuase there too expensive but becuase to them they are too complicated and different
ReeceBest 3 years ago
Psystar is a fake anyway
ReeceBest 3 years ago
Apple hardware systems do look better, but the average computer user/buyers go for price, and if Apple sells OS X on other hardware, a lot of people will buy the cheaper hardware, that Apple hardware.
I am also worried about Apple getting to big as a company, as the products could get crapper, in design & stability.
jg2 3 years ago
You're right I completely agree with everything you said. There should be some sort of middle ground where you could run superior apple software with superior PC hardware.
DigitalJedi1213 3 years ago
i kinda agree with intel chips, but not so sure about that, any info please explain. but there is always going to be a batle between apple securing there os and hackers baeking it, as long as apple continue to do the best they can the better the os is secure. until the nxt hack.lol
DRBUK 3 years ago
In the same way, Apple doesn't really care about marketshare itself but only to deserve the growth of It's user base by releasing good products.
Products that doesn't produce frustration, or remorse
Roughlydrafted has issued 2 new articles (more to come) about the 10.6 rumors in kinda divergent pov concerning "no new features" "no more carbon" "PPC support dropping"
rumors sites are a serie of echo chambers

Apples point of view is far from that scenario :
Alan Kay :"People who are really serious about software should make their own hardware."
And that's exactly what Apple has done and will probably do as long as Steve Jobs is in charge.
Psystar trick (reselling OSX86 hijacking) could make some buzz and free advertizement at 0 risk (Appl doesn't have to support OSX on non Apple Hardware and won't)
So was OSX86 underground initiative.

they just emulated the mac os x on a pc but remember its not apple hardware, so not everything is going to work andmost of the good software will not run.
Muzteeg4m3 3 years ago
There is no emulation on OSX86 only hacked software components and conformation to a short list of hardware components
Basically some of those software parts are directly dumped from Darwin (the Opensource subsystem of OS X which run unpatched on BIOS PC) and some other are patched
Latest OSX86 news were about making a "Efi on BIOS" software layout in order to get rid of the patched soware components.
Psystar was rumored using It, but the facts says It's otherwise (patch and Darwin dump)
Hypothesard 3 years ago
the whole story is all about drivers and harmonious hardware component configuration
- No drivers : no support for hardware
- conflicting piece of hardware will never allow even good drivers to work proprely.
Hypothesard 3 years ago
Hello BUK im writing this while im watching and about 0SX86 and i have installed it on my computer ad took it off the same day because you have to be very very lucky if you can find the drivers. i agree with you that apple has to do something to make OSX even more bombproof than it already is. i hope they dont license it out what would happen to the apple stores? big black boxes beside a mac pro no! and i agree that apple not only are leading in desighn but always have been. thanks very much BUK
wacko506 3 years ago
The reason OSX works so smoothly is because it doesn't have to support a million different hardware configurations with all their drivers.
Its better to buy a Mac and install windows then the other way around. Who needs 2 windows on the scene 1 is enough :P
