Most everyone disagrees with me on this, but I really think a lot of this series was going too far to amuse Ricky. I'd come back with me Blackthorn and amuse myself upside his head for awhile if I had been put through all that shit. Money is nice, and I love to travel. Thing is, even the best travel is tiring and trying, and culture shock can occur in some places, but Id never tolerate "surprise, you're eating dick" without buying my own plane ticket to go back and have a talk about all this.

@painxtreme I don't think Gervais ever disguised the fact that it was a rather expensive personal practical joke which he was able to market to people. There are points even in the series where you can tell that Karl picked up on it. He spent his own money to stay in better places than what the Ricky and Steve wanted. It appears that in Peru, they instructed him not to take any money at all (he couldn't even pay the cannibals for their gifts) after using money to move out of the dorm in Brazil.
