No one's been criticizing Mitchell's ability, not at face level anyway. The issue here was value. You're always going to hear of interest in a player, but that's part of the draft. It's a 32 man game of poker. But are you really going to hedge your bets on a 2-7 offsuit before the blind?
The fact is nobody knows if this was a reach or a great nab. If this kid makes multiple probowls nobody will care where he was drafted. The absolute truth is that until he has 3 to 4 years in the league you cant really say where he should have been taken. If he bombs after a few years then by all means call him a bust but as of now nobody knows a damn thing.
Sounds like we beat NYG on DHB as well. They were reported trying to trade up to 16 if he was still there. We got the best WR and duel Safety in the draft. Pls knock some teeth out and make them bleed silver and black.
huff is 6'0'' 200. mike mitchell is 6'1'' 220. you expect him to play bigger and hit harder than huff. i hope they get mike mitchell right on madden 2010 though. dude ran a 4.49 and is a monster-hitter.
Micheal is fast and plays fast he needs to play the deep two a lil bit better and rap up he needs some coaching but with time and experiance on the field he will get it. but i don't think he a pro bowl calber guy but i hope he proves me wrong i had him rated as a 4th/5th rounder
Al Davis still thinks that the glory of the Ray-dahs lies in 2 things: the vertical passing game and defensive players who hit the crap out of fools. Making big hits isnt the only thing that determines whether or not a guy can play in the NFL. Time will tell if this guy can cover, understand a playbook, handle NFL coaching, and handle the much greater level of competition.
Safties who hit the crap out of people and receivers who can get behind the defense are good things for any football team to have. If Mitchell transitions to the NFL the way he's expected to his presence will significantly impact the psyche of the opposing receivers. As Jack Tatum once said "a receiver can't be thinking of me and the ball at the same time." Bless.
celkins, I more than agree with you that time will tell whether or not Mitchell will develop into a complete NFL player (as is the case with all draft picks). However you can be sure the Raiders have evaluated all aspects of Mitchell's game and are confident he will do so. Again, whether it happens, as you say, time will tell.

I am not hating on michael mitchell. i think the raiders could have gotten him in the 5th. the raiders are a franchise that has no room to "reach" and take chances. if they were a playoff team, then its more acceptable. the raiders ought to be trying to find guys who are as close to sure things as you can find.
The Raiders took Mitchell with the 47th overall pick. The Bears had called Mitchell and told him that they were going to take him with the 49th pick. The Raiders beat the Bears to it and the Bears ended up trading their pick away since the guy they wanted was taken. So I'm confused as to how the Raiders could have gotten him in the 5th.

Not sure if it is on the video or not, but last year at Ohio U Homecoming against VMI, he knocked some kid out... They had to cart the player off.

huff is 6'0'' 200. mike mitchell is 6'1'' 220. you expect him to play bigger and hit harder than huff. i hope they get mike mitchell right on madden 2010 though. dude ran a 4.49 and is a monster-hitter.

Micheal is fast and plays fast he needs to play the deep two a lil bit better and rap up he needs some coaching but with time and experiance on the field he will get it. but i don't think he a pro bowl calber guy but i hope he proves me wrong i had him rated as a 4th/5th rounder

Al Davis still thinks that the glory of the Ray-dahs lies in 2 things: the vertical passing game and defensive players who hit the crap out of fools. Making big hits isnt the only thing that determines whether or not a guy can play in the NFL. Time will tell if this guy can cover, understand a playbook, handle NFL coaching, and handle the much greater level of competition.

Safties who hit the crap out of people and receivers who can get behind the defense are good things for any football team to have. If Mitchell transitions to the NFL the way he's expected to his presence will significantly impact the psyche of the opposing receivers. As Jack Tatum once said "a receiver can't be thinking of me and the ball at the same time." Bless.

celkins, I more than agree with you that time will tell whether or not Mitchell will develop into a complete NFL player (as is the case with all draft picks). However you can be sure the Raiders have evaluated all aspects of Mitchell's game and are confident he will do so. Again, whether it happens, as you say, time will tell.

i agree. I am not hating on michael mitchell. i think the raiders could have gotten him in the 5th. the raiders are a franchise that has no room to "reach" and take chances. if they were a playoff team, then its more acceptable. the raiders ought to be trying to find guys who are as close to sure things as you can find.

The Raiders took Mitchell with the 47th overall pick. The Bears had called Mitchell and told him that they were going to take him with the 49th pick. The Raiders beat the Bears to it and the Bears ended up trading their pick away since the guy they wanted was taken. So I'm confused as to how the Raiders could have gotten him in the 5th.

I hate to tell you, but at the 3:00 mark he is the guy busting the quarterback that has just pitched the ball. Mitchell is #34 not #20. I've seen firsthand that he can tackle, he would rather just knock someone into the next county.

close to my phone. When they did that, I was like OK, Im going to be a Chicago Bear. Thats what I was thinking. Oakland was able to get to 47. They traded back and it takes a couple of minutes to tell you where they will be. When I saw it was 47 I thought there was still a chance here well see what happens. Its so amazing how this has happened and worked out. Im just pumped".......This is what mitchell said!!
