  • I remember this engine so well. My Dad was the Loco Controller on East African Railways and I often rode in the engine cab with him. Terrific experience because I used go to school on this train from Mombasa to Nairobi.

  • What's so hot at 0:39 ?

  • @tacskorejszer It's the firebox

  • This has to be one of the world's most amazing engines.

  • Ibidydo, as the loco is a oil burner you will often see flames in the ash pan. In this clip I would say its more like reflection from the fire that can be seen in the ash pan.

  • there shouldnt be a fire in the ash pan

  • about 50 years ago my grandad worked here! now he lives in U.K.

  • I remember the sights and views looking outside from inside, as we rode this railway, Nakuru to Mombasa, pre-independance!!. The beauty of the antelopes, the rhinos and the zebras, giraffe and elephants, starring at the train, occasionally trying to chase the train. anyone has pictures for my nostalgic collection??

  • 5918 was the high polished and most shiny of the 59's. Nice to see it in action again.

Thanks for sharing this video. Well done to whoever also in getting 5918 working again ( KR thank you ??)
