i work in a factory in ohio for 10 bucks an hour 50 hours a week, if i had a chance to start a state job for 12 bucks an hour i'd be all over it. i don't know how much is a good wage in california but i have my own house and two cars making only 10 so 12 would seem like a good start to me.
the politicians new this was happening for a long time and still they did nothing! and nothing will be done now. my idea is reduce all government jobs to say 12 bucks an hour and give the state employees a choice to stay or quit. if they don't want to work for that much start taking applications from people who do.

The problem is that California can modify the constitution through referendum and we did so a few decades ago with a ballot initiative that says we cannot raise taxes without a 2/3rds majority rather than a simple majority. This means that it's pretty much impossible to raise taxes because the republicans are against it but services aren't cut because democrats are against that. We (Californians) pretty much did this to ourselves when we voted into law the anti-tax measure a while back.

Talk about spin. California is not bankrupt.....yet. Bankruptcy means is defaulting on its loans. California is only issuing IOUs to vendors and suppliers at this point. Also, despite what the "reporter" claims, all of state employees are still being paid. This report completely misses why the state can't balance the budget (its due to ideological differences about cutting expenses and raising taxes). This is a classic example why RT is a "Really Terrible" news source.

Good point! Being unable to balance the government budget, doesn't necessarily mean going bankrupt. It's politics, each party wanting to cut programs that they think are wasteful, and not being able to make a compromise. Deadlocked! Californians have money, one pension fund - California Public Employees' Retirement System's (CALPERS) funds is bigger than most countries in Europe! Russia went bankrupt in 1998, it just told the banks it is not going to repay its loans. It became a pauper state!

i don't have problem with him, actually, though winders sucks, yeah suck ass, i could keep count of how many ours i have wasted on his crap. he's giving 98% of his wealth away, i mentioned him just for the sake of it. targeting individuals for taxing is wrong, unless those who want to use their money to sway the congress for taxing purposes.

The idea of cutting bach on everything is all wrong. If we need water, lets invest in a water system and bring water from Canada or North America down to California and other places. Why cut back on water? If your hungry, grow more food. Don't cut back to one meal a day. If we need money and jobs, lets invest and get our industries back. If the State is so broke then how does Hollywood and the millionaires, actors, producers, directors stay okay? Is it really hurting these billionaires? How about vacating a mansion or two and allow the homeless to live in them. Tell those folks, you up keep my home and property, no breaking the Law and you folks got "free rent". The problem is that California can modify the constitution through referendum and we did so a few decades ago with a ballot initiative that says we cannot raise taxes without a 2/3rds majority rather than a simple majority. This means that it's pretty much impossible to raise taxes because the republicans are against it but services aren't cut because democrats are against that. We (Californians) pretty much did this to ourselves when we voted into law the anti-tax measure a while back.

RT is reporting on this because they are upset that a state does not want to go into more debt. That does not mean its bankrupt, I suggest they check their sources and use a dictionary.
