Overfishing and water pollution were responsible for their disappearing. We still have smaller sturgeons in the Danube river, but they are rare and 1-2 meter only.

I don't understand why people are so worked up about animals becoming extinct. They are able to clone a mammoth frozen for 10000 years already why not just cut off some endangered animals skin and put them in some freezer then spend the friggin money by promoting science to bring them back at another time, rather than greive about how thoughtless humans are. The Chinese paddle fish is a giant and aggressive predator. It is not in the same genus as the American paddle fish. It is also called elephant fish and Yangtzi sword fish. Unfortunately, it is only spotted several times in the last 20 years.

After watching this I googled the paddlefish, it's situation doesn't sound good at all. Only one more fish has been seen since 2003 and that was one that fishermen killed in 2007.

Sturgeons were very common in the Danube river as well. In old books and on old paintings we realized, our fishermen catched 5-7 m Sturgeons (Huso - Beluga Sturgeon) till to the 18th century. Overfishing and water pollution were responsible for their disappearing. We still have smaller sturgeons in the Danube river, but they are rare and 1-2 meter only.

I don't understand why people are so worked up about animals becoming extinct. They are able to clone a mammoth frozen for 10000 years already why not just cut off some endangered animals skin and put them in some freezer then spend the friggin money by promoting science to bring them back at another time, rather than greive about how thoughtless humans are. The only problem with cloning is genetic variation, thats why you take more than one sample of the species...

The Chinese paddle fish is a giant and aggressive predator. It is not in the same genus as the American paddle fish. It is also called elephant fish and Yangtzi sword fish. Unfortunately, it is only spotted several times in the last 20 years.
