Very well guitar played, 100% faithful chords and nice alternative arrangement, althoutgh I personally had preferred a softer synth sound, and to hear on chorus the original melody at least the 1st time. Interesting imagery: just yesterday I read in an interview to the late Eric Woolfson (the APP songwriter) that one of his interpretations of this song is an astronaut taking a journey without return. I see you did an AP reference using a sound sample from Apollo.
Hi @urbania70, Thank you for your nice and long comment. It´s a pleasure to read it if s.o. got the idea of the thing. In fact i imagined pictures from space when i heard this song for the first time. I loved it at once although i´m not a great APP-Fan. @StAnna60 It's interesting how different listeners see different pictures - a result of the fact that APP albums were produced similarly to movies, plus the deliberately multiple-interpretation lyrics. Eric said he personally saw the song as a captain of an ancient ship departing for a no-return trip, but also in modern version as a captain of a spaceship. I see also the image of a man passing away, which makes of every cover of this song a tribute to Eric, which passed away 6 months ago.
Why isn't this more popular? It's really good!
