I can't recall my last words to my parents or theirs to me but I always tell my children I love them after every phone call no matter how short or embarrassing for them (still teenagers). Sarah McLachlan has been there as the backing track to the most emotional parts of my life and I'm all the better for that & I thank her. I think it's not love that is fleeting, just our selfish wish to hold on to it in the present because we can't see past the hurt or loss.
