  • I disagree with the 'crap lifters' comments below, in the last 3 years I've loaded on several different brands of lifters and these Terberg ones are the best- nice and quick, and they dont throw the bins back off at you! It takes practice to get one bin on right, let alone two at a time, once you've got 'knack' though, its second nature :)

  • there crapper.. Aussie side arm lifter are better

  • crap lifters

  • shit lifters

  • shit lifters

  • shit lifters

  • @forestkar No they our the best terberg our by far the best out there. zeoller our crap i work with them.

  • The hi vis vest made u catch the bin the second time!!!

  • Well, as my mate said....I'd never make a binman!

  • @RapidAssistant it is never the less a skill that comes with years of practice. my two loaders are pro"s at it. they wack em on two at a time without fail every time. good job or i wouldnt get home early every day lol.

  • Why does it keep dropping the garbage can?

  • It was empty, so was bouncing off the lifter

  • because it's empty

  • did you notice when that bin came down the hydralics fuck up made like a diffent noise

  • Think in my case the problem was that the bin was empty hence it skipped off the grab.

  • Its easier to put on bins with rubbish in as there is some weight to gain purchase on the hoist.

  • hi i have just started work at a companey called e&b waste do u have any tips on how to make sure the big bins get on 1st time

  • i have one. do u work with a partener. if so get him to push the bin against the grabs while you operate them thats what our guys do when they clear up the market

  • @scania95v8 work with someone who has done the job

  • lol

  • i saw a vid where a packer jamed up do you still have this vid ?

  • a sad event happened on the first friday of the new year.......

    my wheelie bin was crushed in a bin lorry :{

  • my council is all bag work i worked for them and it was great fun with the job and knock, but the problem is the smell and the public taking thier crap out on you.

    Be prepared !

  • Oh really, so they're creeping into the UK now? That's a shame. It's all binlifts on my local borough's collections now. In Westminster you can still see some bag collections with nothing to hide to view, I've been trying to get some footage, but it can be a bit tricky in the middle of Charing Cross Road and the like! Watch this space.

  • Yea it's always that Vulture that goes around Soho late every afternoon....last time I was in London I was loitering on Gerrard St in Chinatown whilst they were hand loading it - I of course was pretending to be typing a text message whilst watching a few cool packing cycles.

  • Ha ha - I thought it was only me who did things like that! I know the Vulture you mean! So did you want to be a binman as a kid like myself? Even though I know it's a dirty job I'd still like to give it a go. Maybe part time!

  • I always thought emptying wheelies was trickier than it looked....like the music by the way(!).

  • Admittedly it makes a difference probably if the bin wasn't empty! But there definately is a knack to it!

  • On take two, I noticed the packing cycle starts up automatically if the bin actually tips. Does it only complete if the button is pressed again - just in case someone was in the bin when it tipped?

  • No, the cycle runs all the way through once the bin lift returns to the start position. If the packer is cycled when the guard is down, then the operator must hold the start button down until the blade gets past the pinch point.

  • Does the packing cycle automatically stop when the wagon is in motion, I've noticed that happening and wondered if that's a safety measure as well?

  • Yep - not so much on the older ones where the controls are electromechanical such as this one, but on the newer PLC controlled refuse bodies, it's wired up to the autobox controls.

  • It's noticeable how gradually automation is creeping in. Some of the US dustcarts with mechanical arms I've seen on You-Tube strike me as potentially dangerous - the operator doesn't see the contents of the bin or the packing - could be anything in there! Also it's just dull - can't see the packer doing its work!

  • Up here in Scotland, Stirling Council are starting to use automated side loaders with the big robotic arms....how dull is that??? The US has always been some way behind in the safety stakes with really low rave rails so it's easy to fall in the hopper. But they make it up with completely manual packing controls on their rear loaders.
