you know it's probably not too insanely difficult to do this sort of streaming setup ourselves. Once I wrap my brain around the nuts & bolts of one of these AR programs I'm going to have to see if I can't try this.
indeed it is, i think other technology could benefit from a client server setup, for instance, a robot could be more intelligent because a server in the basement is doing the hard work. i can't wait until augmented reality is mainstream (which im sure it will be)
@lowtone10 hey have you bought a bag of Doritos lately? There's AR markers for their website on them now. Woot woot, u & I both totally called it. Also the General Electric AR site is pretty nifty too, though only a gimmick.
Live latency of video is around 6 - 7 seconds on the PDA due to windows media streaming the augmented stream - read more on the "more info" button on the right on this video.
Why is this ar important? ar must be useful, just as robots must be useful for the functionality to mean anything.

Nice idea to use streaming, You ought to look into how those Second Life & Warcraft streaming clients push so much PC based data.
