@fairyfloss2000 A lot of Pixar shorts (if not all) were done to test something new Pixar was going to implement in their next movie. For instance, in this one it was particle effects (to test the birds' feathers and Sullivan's fur in Monster Inc.) One Man Band was made to test a complex city in order to make Ratatouille. Also, I don't know what it was intended to test, but Lifted had something to do with Wall-E.
