  • Even Before watching the video of this song, I had visualised that Shammi kapoor is drunk and singing this song, after watching this video it was indeed true, such is the magic of Rafi Sahab, that he makes u visualise the actor's mindset.

Rafi Sahab was, is and will be greatest singer of all times

  • speeechlesssss

  • true lyrics...

  • I want to cry. No words for Rafi - natural emotion....he got into his work and did it with utmost pride and joy.

Shammi's acting is flawless...the song was made for him....and he made sure that the song was sung the way HE wanted to sing it!:) Which actor bothers to do that today? NONE.

Lilting tunes from OPN are unforgettable.

An epic combo RAFI, SHAMMI, OPN.

RIP Shammi our "indian Rocky" - you rocked and always will.

  • My view on hindi cinema is very straight forwarde- 1960s is great,1970s is OK. After that i can not bear most of the movies. But one and only Shammi kapoor m listening for last two decades as my most favoirte. The most buoyant and happening personality Hindi cinema have is Shammi Kapoor.

  • MAY YOUR SOUL REST IN PEACE SHAMMIJI.I SIMPLY LOVED YOUR WORK.

  • WE WILL MISS U SHAMMIJI.... MAY YOUR SOUL RIP.

  • RIP Shammi ji This one is my fav song of yours..love !

  • mast hai

  • watch the 3rd verse, watch how shammi ji has reacted or rather matched the deep breath taken by rafi saab...its a very small thing but thats the kind of involvement one gets to see in the old songs..u feel as if shammi ji is singing the song...

  • the sax is played by the great manhari da,who expired last yr on the 13th of july... rafi saab is and will always be the greatest.... and ofcourse kudos to the maestro called o.p.nayyar,the music director .............

  • FUCK THIS SONG I LOVE SAXOPHONE IN THE SONG

  • is ko kahete hai voice of melody no can beat him not befor him and not after him

  • what sax !!

  • IF YOU EVER NOTICE 99% OF SHAMMI'S SONGS IN FILMS WERE MOHD RAFI'S SONG.....HE DID NOT ACT TO OTHERS SONGS.

  • the sax is just amazing in this song !!!

  • mohd rafi is brilliant as always

  • this era has not gone.. we are all indirectly paying huge homage and tribute to MH. Rafi by listing and enjoying his contribution to the Indian music and singing...

  • Can't believe that era has gone! I cry every time I listen to these songs.

  • His golden voice, smooth like silk who can resist.Really!!!!!!

  • RAFI SAHEB LAZABAB!!!!!

  • Rafi Sahab had this rare ability to sensitize the lyrics with deep emotional content without ever loosing grip on the flow of its latent meaning. Undoubtedly, Rafi Sahab was honestly a magician of Genuine Flawless, a Filtered voice.

  • Great composition and great voice of Rafi Sb.

  • ALL SUPERLATIVES STOP HERE AT THE VOICE OF OUR BELOVED "MOHD. RAFI SAAB"

  • Supreme SONG by Rafi sb and Nayyar!! Great combination on Earth!!

  • Beautiful words.. Rafi Saab's mesmerising voice and so wondefully enacted by the evergreen Shammi Kapoor.

  • Shammi Kapoor - beauty incarnate!

  • if God tells me I will let you meet Mohd. Rafi once and you will have to give me ur life... Still I would love to meet Rafi Saheb...

  • @sumitnagpal07 So true words by you

  • someone please tell me the meaning of 'SAJDE KE KAABIL' and 'TASWEER-E JAANA'. thanx

  • @manupratap25 Sajde ke kaabil means a person who is capable of being worshiped and Tasweer-e-jaana means that photograph of beloved...

  • @sumitnagpal07 so kind of you..thanx..

  • @manupratap25 I don't hindi that well, learnt it from the movies!

Sajde ke kabil - worthy of prostration.

Tasweer-e-jaana - beloved's picture (in this case beloved's imprint in the heart).

  • Actually this is a duet by Rafi and Manohari Sing.

  • Radhe Radhe

Konteya Pratijanihi Na me Bhakta Pranayeshaiti

    Hari bol

  • Sixties was the best decade ever, men wore suits and women wore sarees in the east, Lata Raafi Kishore sung beautiful songs written by Poetic geniuses like Saher,Kaifi Azmi,Gulzar and Majrooh Sultan Puri and their tunes composed by best music directors ever. Ian Flemming Agatha Christie,Ibne Safi and Akram Allahabdi wrote best suspense thrillers,Hollywood was graced by beuaties like Audrey Hepburn,Ava Gardner,Sophia Loren and Men like Gregory Peck,Paul Newman,Marlon Brando,Rock Hudson......

  • @radonpq99 Agree with you. With all the technoligical advances, we will never again have the magic of the great moments of 60s. All the actors and persons you have named had such greater depth. At least the modern era has given us you tube so we can relive thos golden moments

  • @MrRagbag Yes, very good point, Youtube has made it possible to relive those magical moments.

  • The lyrics are by Shamshul Huda Behari. S H Behari and O P Nayyar and Rafi have weaved many such magical musical experiences. Kismat songs come to mind if you want to enjoy more such songs. The expressions of Rafi saheb matches so well with the mood and location of song. Wonder how difficult it must have been for Rafi saheb to mimic expressions of a situation he has never been - drunk in a bar. Simply outstanding.

  • MATCHLESS LYRICS....

  • all the essential yoga poses!!

  • one of the best song of my choice

  • wah kya baat hai!!!

  • Timeless

  • how romantic

  • They don't make anything like this these days :( This was what made Indian music great...poetry, emotions and a divine voice. Majority of the songs these days are such pretentious crap you want to curse everyone involved in it.

  • Suprb !

  • Gerat saxaphonist Manohari sing zindabad, par afsos he is not more.

  • ahahaha rafi voiceeeeeeeeee waaaah what can i sayy...

  • ussi ne hai loota maza zindagi ka....

mohabbat mei jo ho gaya ho kisi ka....

  • great song ...and shammi always the best!!!

  • superb it says the actual happening in the life.

  • wow.... !!!!!

  • Excellent.

  • Rafi Saab is matchless, voice from the heavens. Such a depth of emotion in his voice.

  • Heart starts beating faster than the normal.....damn.....Matchless singer, Muhammad Rafi saab is the best singer the world has ever produced and no doubt shammiz expressions are marvellous, no one can sing like Rafi saab no 1 even has the courage to do so Salutes to this greatest Legend, a master is always a master

  • Its not just the enchanting quality of Rafi's voice and great acting by Shammi the whole song is like no other. The muted ambience of a closing bar and the brilliant saxaphonist add to the allure of this magical song. I hope today's film maker who would cram a thousand visual images of few seconds duration in 3 minute song would learn a few things from such picturisations.

  • i hate love.....

  • absolute favorite.....

  • Great combo by Rafi- Shammi. The Guy on the saxophone had a great body language- must be a really good player of sax.

  • Rafi Saab, truly heavenly voice

  • Wow, what a fantastic combination. Rafi gets it perfectly right for Shammi with this sensational music score by OP Nayyar. All time classic.

  • Intoxicating voice

  • This is shammi at his best.A great actor who was well versed with the music.

It seemed like as if he was singing with his own voice.A great tribute to Mohd Rafi the greatest playback singer ever in the bollywood world of music.

  • GOD WANTED US TO BE HAPPY...so HE made Rafi saab

  • Comment removed

The wod is AHTRAAM meaning givving respect like to a deity.

  • thanks billu

  • it says "karo ehtaraam uski deewanagi ka" I guess u r looking for ehtaraaam's meaning, if so, Ehtaraaam means "Respect". The whole thing means "respect those who are lovers".

  • kya kya baat hn...

  • abousultely true..

  • If you just listen this song, you will feel Rafi is acting and when you watch ,you feel Shammi is singing. Absolutely brilliant.Voice and acting made for each other.

  • @npk777 reallyyyyyyyyy? i thought shammi kapoor is overacting!

  • jisne bhi likha hai, usne pyaar jarur kiya hoga..... mohaabat ko samze bina koi aisa shaabd nahi likh sakta .. muze nahi pata kisne likha hai....lekin likhne wala aur gaane wala dono hi tareef ke kabil hai.... pyaar ka dard isse behatar nahi samzaya jaa sakta ...... hats off too shammi kapoor and the singer... love u both... dil banane wala bhi, dard ko nahi samaz sakta... usne too sirf bana ke chood diya.. puchho usse jo tuute huwe dil ke santh jindgi ke saare pal basar karte hain...

  • THe lyrics are by Shamshul Huda Behari. S H Behari and O P Nayyar and Rafi have weaved many such magical musical experiences. Kismat songs come to mind if you want to enjoy more such songs.

  • Yes Subhaan Allah RafiSaab !!! But frnds also watch Shammiji freakout matching d nuances... MAGIC !!!

  • Folks, 1 correction. It's an absolute False propoganda made by Ismail Darbar that the Saxophone in this song has been played by his Father. The Saxophone in this song was played by Manohari (was known as Kaka)

  • It is Manohari Singh... we call him DADA

  • Sexophone in this song was played by father of music director Ismail Darbaar

  • Thnk God Darbaar saab is not around to c Ismailsaab on BigBoss !!!

  • Ha Ha Ha ...

  • i guess the reason why you cant control is because the magical emotions flowing through Rafi Saheb's voice in those songs. its just amazing how every single sone of Rafi Saheb is just listening to like its heaven, like its been said Mortal Man, Immortal Voice :)

  • becoz dear these all are legendary songs and i think u r really love with some one truly

U have to listen to this to get the real feel of this great musician playing the SAX.

    god bless his soul

  • wht the hell??? ur makin comments abt the dumb saxafone and ignoring the FACT tht its Rafi saabs amazingly immortal voice tht brings songs to life n makes the hits they are!!!!

GIV CREDIT WHERE ITS DUE PPL!!!

  • Please also give credit to Omkar Prasad Nayyar (O P Nayyar) who composed and orchestrated this song. In a song everything must fit together, the saxophone, the singer, the other musicians, the arrangement of the song, music and melody. All this is the responsibility of the music director. Ofcourse, without Rafi this song would not be the same.

  • smod

wht u say is true to a point, but do remember there have been countless gr8 musicians, directors etc but there was and will ever be one Rafi saab.

  • The film music directors of the 50s, 60s & 70s were the best, and I doubt there will ever be music directors like them again. They have created music that will be heard hundreds of years from now. Not only songs by Rafi, but also Lata, Mukesh, Kishore, Manna Dey, etc. And ofcourse Rafi is one of the best among the best.

  • well smod, thts ur personal opinion, thers were great music directors in the 80s and 90s and even now theres a couple of realy good music directors but there has never even been any1 close to Rafi sab n thts not my personal opinion, its the opinion of those who know wht they're doing, ie profesionals of the music industry. Wen Rafi saab was at his peak, there were other singers ie mukesh etc but time and time again, film producers, music directors only wanted Rafi saab,n tht my freind says it all!!
