  • I almost feel like I'm listening to Depeche Mode. This must be where Martin Gore gets his inspiration for most of his songs. : )

  • Something is going on in my leftside brain when hearing this... it tingles :s very soothing music :)

  • superbe ,plus de 2 ans que j ecoute cette version ,quel bonheur ,merçi.

  • Hey, if there´s anybody here that wouldn't mind watching my attempt at this on my channel then please do, tell me what you think!

  • me fuí a la chucha

  • Why do people find this dark or sad? I find it more dreamy, reflective or at worst, alien.

  • @theimaginarynumber Because of the chords used. There are a certain amount of chord combinations that can inflict the state of mind which you refer to.

  • I always think the Gnossiennes are really dark songs when i hear them.

  • Deliciosa melodía!

  • bea u ti ful

  • Beautifully played! Such a masterpiece :)

  • sublime

  • gyönyörű

  • Very nice iterpretaton. :)) Love it!

  • strauss was a yob

  • amazing!

  • Great interpretation! Great phrasing! Truly my favorite of his Gnossiennes.

  • Your playing is vile. And your rubato is a drama whore. I am going to hit you repeatedly in the face with something heavy and sharp until you stop with all the effeminate mincing about.

  • this was in mr nobody

  • me encanta como tocas!!!!!

  • Your playing was beautiful. This song always calms me down when I'm undergoing immense.

  • @JinNOSify immense stress*

  • Very beautifully played, indeed. I created a little experiment playing Gnossienne No. 3 on an old analogue synthesizer. If interested, check: /watch?v=Wv7J5fSYiTw

  • JUST WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I learned this recently, and I love it, but I'm very picky about the way people play it. However, I adore this rendition of it. You should be so proud of your amazing playing.

  • Beautiful rendition.

  • This is absolutely beautiful...Thank you!

  • Bravo! Beautifully played - you play with wonderful emotion and dynamics!

I've been taking piano lessons for about a year now and I've totally fallen in love with Satie :^) How long have you been studying piano?

  • c'est tres beau, jaime bcp Satie !!!

  • I LOVE IT...

  • Sickest track ever made.

Erik Satie... This is by far one of my favorite pieces of music.

  • very good i love your playing:) but u have few wrongs:S i am sure u can play it better;) and get rid of these wrongs:)

  • brilliant interpretation!

  • I will never ever get bored of this piece and your playing is absolutely lovely. If my life were a film, I would want to choose this as my theme music.

  • Absolutely lovely, thank you very much for sharing this with us ;)

  • i can't stop listening to this one. it feels unsettling, like it's announcing a storm. i'm actually afraid i'll "wear it out", and get bored of it.

  • Very very good! I love your playing!

  • Beautiful interpretation, I have never heard more beautiful than the

yours:) it makes me think of a winter morning in the woods with a thick

    carpet of clouds ...

  • @shadockman try jacques loussier's. and also hail to cubus.

  • I'm 15.I just started doing piano lessons a few months ago and i already learned one of Mozzarts song but kinda screwed it up when i had a concert with the parents of every kids.Big emotions i had.I always wanted to know how to play the piano for me in the future when im going to have kids or when im going to be a grandfather to know how to play the piano but most of all for me,not to become a famous musician.I wonder ,i just wonder, would I reach one day your level?

  • @Besnada hey, good luck. you're awesome just for trying.

  • All of the compliments have already been said, so let me just say: I COMPLETELY AGREE!

  • a perfect clear piano and a ungrudging talent...thumbs up for you!

  • ABRSM piano grade 6, piece C3

  • This is excellent. The video is suiting also.

  • j09ew5678IOHIUlks:op-jo)/78gJ8hn:

Sorry, I had to wipe the tears of my keyboard...

  • @SuperMegaPeanut lol i thought that was a URL!! haha... SOB....

  • Beautiful palette of colors. I also appreciate the many subtle aspects of the performance.

  • Great rubato, perfect performance: 6/5!

  • Breathtaking.

  • Finally a good pianist! its so hard to find someone who can play this with enough emotion.

  • Gives me the chills.

  • random thought this should be added to a video game called Alice return to Madness

  • Your video has helped me a lot. I will be performing this as one of my three pieces for music, and I find this version very well played. Thanks a lot. :)))

  • wow i never ever have heard some one playing this session with so much soul and sense like this cubuc is doing right now , the beauty of piano , the way its played you can just hear if someone is just playing , or realy expressing his feelings ....in this case the last of 2 is a fact this time , .

i am realy impressed by the way you touch the piano , it sounds almost identical to what satie did with this piece of music , 10/10 to you my friend , brilliant , absolute expression of emotion!

  • I absolutely love your playing of this song. One of the rare people who actually slow it down to give it its full potential. A like and a favorite from me =D

  • Beautifully evocative, eliciting memories of exquisite embrace...

  • I currently think this is my favourite performance of Gnossieme no.3!

I'm doing my grade six piano this year and I have to play this piece as me C piece. Whenever I'm stuck on how to interpret this piece I listen to this! It is very good!

What grade are you ? I'm guessing high becuase your playing is very skilled!

  • i can't speak. . .

  • a kto lubi ten kawalek ?

  • @nekronek A ja lubię:)))) a jeszcze bardziej w połączeniu z D.O.Z.SK.I:)

  • THE most beautiful piece of music ever made.

  • there is actually a tie, in between the two B 3's. This was probably done intentionally.

  • Lovely rendition, a bit too much reverb for my taste though.

  • Hi Cubus,

I love your playing, and I'm really wondering what sort of device you use to record the audio in your videos - could you please share your secret?

  • @mareknazzal I have made a page explaining how I record the sound. Look at FAQ on my profile page.

  • @cubusdk - what is your opinion? if i can only afford to upgrade a rd-700 with the supernatural kit, or buy ivory keys italian instead; which one will provide the best upgrade of sound quality?

  • @fingerblips Between the two I would go for the upgrade for the RD-700 because no single sound can cover every type of music. Sometimes the best result is a mellow sound, sometimes it should be sharp. With the upgrade kit you get several quite different sounds that are all quite good. They are not just a little bit better than the build in ones, it is a complete new level of sound. You might also consider Ivory II Grands where you get 3 grands that cover the spectrum from mellow to sharp..

  • @cubusdk thanks for your feedback. it turns out the rd-700sx is incapable of the upgrade, only the gx. Wondering if latency is an issue for you with the Ivory II Grands? I'm not sure I could get used to latency

  • @fingerblips I'm running it on a laptop with a 7200 rpm harddisk and an external USB soundcard. It is not possible to use the build in soundcard concerning latency. My setup is satisfying concerning latency.

  • Hi there Cubus,

I love your recordings, as I love the quality of the sound in it. Could you please share what kind of device you use to record the audio in your videos?

  • Nemo's song <3

  • wauw, I love it

    keep it up ;)

    peace

  • how did you get such a good audio recording, i pressume the visual could have been pixelated so you added an effect (which definitely adds to the emotion of the piece). I never thought of recording like this. I like how it is just your hands. Ok, so back to my question, how did you get such a decent sound with your video camera. Do you write your own music also?

  • The best Satie sound i have found round here. You play it real good. Feels like home. Cheer up !

  • Love it!!

  • Played this at a school music competition once. Got 2nd place. Should have won though. The person who got 1st place wasn't even that good....I'm not bitter...

  • awesome work here. i really do enjoy playing this piece at the moment. it allows you to express so much emotion.

  • then your not understand the work or Satie, try listening to it while accepting the 'echo', it lends to the mood. but, of course, it is opinion....

  • This is the most amazing performance of the 3rd Gnossienne by Satie that I have ever heard. I practically go into a trance whenever I hear this played by Cubus, it is sublime.

  • it's wierd but good

  • I just performed that piece yesterday- I love it!

  • two words: AM - AZING!

  • great job

  • Perfect.y

  • Beautifull played, but I didn't like that strange echo effect, or was it just me hearing it:)

  • nice work. the changes in tempo are just right.. not all elongated out like can often be done.

  • Amazing interpretation! I like it! :D

  • very well interpreted! very emotional played, I love it.

  • Ah! exactly the tempo I like. It has the exact time to create an atmosphere as well as the motion in it. Very good job.

  • oops im on my dads acount posting this lol

  • I play this for my grade 6 piano what an amazing pice! :)

  • me too!!

  • I play this 4 my grade 6 what an amazing pice

  • this is so beautiful. wish i could play like this.

  • I love this version, just how I want to play it!

  • This piece is amazing and very nicely played , this has got to be one of the best versions on you tube, definitely gonna play this for my grade6 exam!

  • appropiate and beautiful tempo, your version is the one that i like the most from all the other versions on youtube. It has already been favorited!

  • Gorgeous. I love everything about how this is played. I am just now learning it and this is an inspiration to me.

  • Beautiful piece, played perfectly, IMO. I have not found any other performances of this piece on YouTube that can touch this one. Truly haunting.

  • Very nicely played. I notice at 0:15 you play the B 3 times. In my version of the score there are only 2 Bs. Was this deliberate? I've heard it in one other person's playing of Gnossienne 3.

  • In my score there are 3 B's. When looking at the structure of the piece I think it is a mistake, a tie is missing at that particular spot in my score.

  • 2 b's please

  • beautiful... You did a good job :)

  • i love this song¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • tis is my examination song..

  • I don't want to sound stuck up here but if you're taking Grade 6 then you should know that this is not a song

  • how is this not a song? it's played on a real instrument, and doesn't sound like it's been made by a hamster.

  • A song has words. A song is SUNG. This is a PIECE of music, which very few people seem to understand (judging by the 3 thumbs down in my previous comment - I did say I was sorry for sounding ignorant, but as a musician, you really should be able to know this is not a song!!)

  • whatacoincidence!lol :D

  • i love how you play. i think your renditions of satie's work are the best that i have heard.

few pianists find so pleasant and poised a balance in within the broad spectrum of rhythm, ranging from a robotic, metronomic rhythm on one hand, to a halting, disturbingly convusive modulation the timing on the other hand.

    beautiful work.

  • @SvenTwelve exactly!...this is the proper way to play it, I was pleasantly surprised!

  • One of my favorite pieces.

  • beautiful playing - such a lively and dynamic tension in your music - one of my favorite pieces!

  • Nice playing :) just studying this piece at the moment. How long have you been playing this work?

  • I made this video some hours after printing out the score..

  • You totally captured the essence of Erik Satie, you understood his work.

    Really nice job.
