  • @DrFunkensteinJunior Where did you get that cover for this mixtape? Cause the one I got when it came out was the one with them in a portrait surrounded by a green background.

  • increubleee

  • This guys aint into chains and bitches. They 4 the culture,4 the hood, expresin' and provin' there is still bread behind the mic. Those are the people we need to listen to,not lil "soulja boy" wantin' to kiss me thru the phone... It is sad how real shyt was forgotten and buried in the ash, pissed on,shitted on etc.

  • isnt this busta rhymes?

  • Good stuff. Glad to see legends like Stevie on a track withThe Roots who are also legends. Black Thought is one of the greatest lyricist to touch earth. Especially Philly and we can't forget Sudan!

  • roots been sick.....they deserve they props....they so sick...and kweli is known for being a sick underground rapper!!!!!

  • Black thought has crazy skill, no doubt. But as hard as it had to be to get Stevie Wonder on the original from Busta's Big Bang album, i don't think they should've fucked w/this. Besides that, Busta killed this, made it a personal song that alot of peeps can relate to.

  • This type of music makes me want to keep on living for sure. Proud to be Black and all that...Get over, get by, and get through it all! Hip Hop is such a rich and wealthy culture being robbed by Black and White Devil's alike!

  • does anyone have the piano notes?

  • it is stevie wonder :)

    google it

  • so which version came first? bustah or roots? I'm guessing roots, jsut a guess but somebody who actually knows, please do tell.

  • @amsbeats

Busta's version came first, off 'When Disaster Strikes' - with Stevie Wonder playing the piano and singing. However, J Period and Black Thought reworked the track, on the mixtape, The Best of The Roots, with Black Thought replacing Busta's verses. I like this one more.

  • @amsbeats Busta

  • I'm Inspired thank you ....

  • doesnt busta rhymes got this song on his album??? oh well this versions wayyy better

  • i fuckinnn love this song it makes soo much sense too me i love stevie on the hook too damnn the beat goess hardd!!! LOVE IT

  • they should make the vocal volume a bit higher and instrumental sound a bit lower , it would fit better, though it is still a killer track

  • i like this song, i really need it on my ipod

  • Yeah! That storm can make you, or break you. Experienced a few storms in my lifetime. Welcomed many of them; but shook at some of the more severe ones. It's beautiful though;when you emerge, and the light has directed you on a new journey. But please believe! It's many more storms ahead, but I'm better equipped on how to navigate through it now. ( I truly relate too these cats lyrics; because their message is so accurate & to the point. Know need for the "Grand-Standing".

  • @lowendfella Good lookin out yo , you want reality ,true life game.Roots flow always been tight !!!

  • so instead of just all looking the same yall think we all sound the same too ? this aint Stevie Wonder .. put the pipe down ..back up away from the stove ...

  • Great Music, a masterpiece with a great message.

  • why is everyone saying its not Stevie Wonder???? it is

  • @namkooc i think its because he sounds so young and fresh and funky. and of course stevie is and always will be all of that, but there is a disconnect

  • this beat was made by my man!!!!!!! black jeruz out of raleigh,nc...not sha maoney xl!!! not the roots BLACK JERUZ google him if u want ...im tired of people tryna take credit..i jus so happen 2 be in the studio wit him when he made it......N.C STAND UP BLLLLATTTTT!!!!

  • Thanks for the info! JURUZ is definitely keeping it humble.

  • WTF!? Black Thought is a militant rapper!

  • ur crazy... black thought is in his own league the instru are simple, words aint...

  • Yea, Black Thought is definitely in a league of his own. A lot of rappers usually got a really crazy line or two that hits you, but with Thought, when you really listen, everything he says is just so harrd.

  • geez. black thought is one of a kind man. bland? nobody, not anybody, can rap like him. not saying he's the best, but he's definitely 100% unique and NOT bland.

  • wow you jus dont get it

  • Someone needs to put up track one on this cd, and the big l tribute!

  • luv it

  • Who's that guy singin the hook? it's not stevie wonder I guess =)

  • It is Stevie Wonder, i'm damn sure.

  • @DrFunkensteinJunior its stevie, and that's black thought

  • @DrFunkensteinJunior totally doesnt sound like stevie.

course, i never hear him sing notes that low.

maybe thats what a super tenor sounds like when he's just chillin...

  • @DexRok

Me and all the other Guys here know that is Stevie, it is the J.Period exclusive Version that he made for his Best Of The Roots Album, he took the instrumental and Stevies Hook of Busta's Song from The Big Bang Album, and Black Thought kicked his Rhymes over this Dope Beat. Thats what Wikipedis says on The Big Bang Album Wiki Site: Stevie Wonder plays piano and sings on "Been Through the Storm" So thats it, it's no one other than Stevie Wonder!

  • none other than Stevie

  • whats wrong wit ur ears??????????????

  • @lennybeatz jey it's Stevie

  • @lennybeatz somebody need to listen to more Stevie Wonder Ha!

  • Anyone know where you can download early J.Period mixtapes? Impossible to find....and this is a fucking awesome track, i love his shit.

  • I've never heard the Roots version before.. Cool trak, but Busta's brings me to tears every time!

  • Cool track. But I think Busta's version is waay better
